Chapter 06
I lowered my eyes, ignoring the dense stream of mocking text on the screen.
I focused only on the bloody wounds scattered across my body.
But to everyone's surprise,
once again, I became entangled with Jason Quinn—
and this time, it was his son who sought me out.
I had no idea how he found me.
All I knew was that, in the morning, when I pushed open the door of my room in the shabby hostel,
I saw him standing there alone, with his school bag slung over his shoulder,
staring at me.
His face was indifferent,
but it resembled his father's—cold and unfeeling.
I paused, unable to move.
He tilted his head slightly, studying me with an unblinking gaze.
"Who are you?"
He asked, his voice low and emotionless.
It was so strange.
He had come to my door, and the very first thing he asked was who I was.
"My name is Xu Nuo," I answered, though I was taken aback.
I still responded seriously, as if the question were just like any other.
But the moment my words fell,
his brow furrowed deeply,
his expression shifting to one of confusion and suspicion.
