Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Spirit eyes

The party got ready to fight the guardian. But the group leader's expression suddenly got caught by some of the other members.

"Leader, is everything okay? Did something come to your mind?" Asked one of the members.

Peter's expression was grave " that boss is about to step into tier 4. This is one of the signals they give out when they are about to get promoted…. We better finish this fast or we will have to go back the way we came in."

Others also now became aware of the situation they are in. Although they can handle a peak tier 3 boss, a tier 4 boss was out of the question.

"Alan!... Lock in…" Peter roared as the formation got in position to fight. Currently Alan had the highest damage output in the group. It was clear that if they wanted to take the guardian down they had to depend on the ones with the highest damage output.

Alan set his bow to the maximum strength index. Other damage dealers were also locked in. They too have to coordinate with Alan to take it down fast.

"Tanks get in position. Don't let the main damage dealers take any damage. Use taunt whenever its cooldown ends. Healers standby, focus your healing spell on the tanks. Make sure their health doesn't fall below 40%. Mages those who have debuff skills cast them on my mark. Those who have water element and ice type spells focus on damage. The rest of the damage dealers who have comparable low atk focus on those minions who escaped. And Alan, the guardian looks likely to have a dragon bloodline so if it reveals it during combat try to shatter it in one go otherwise it will go into rage mode and make things hard….." Peter gave out commands to each of them.

What astonished Alan the most was the fact that the group leader almost pointed out the type and possible weakness of the guardian monster at one glance.

This was thanks to Peter's experience in the battlefield that he could point this out. Alan too wished he could point things out like that.

It was then he remembered his class skill which he had got aa the tier transition reward. His foes were too easy, he had hardly used any skills and he had forgotten about them.

He thought it was the best time to use it. Alan activated his pupil technique. As soon as he used it his eyes became bright and gave out a shine.

He noticed that his surroundings have changed significantly. He could see the fire element particles roaming around in the cave even more vividly now than before.

The things which were not visible to his eyes came into focus now. He now glanced at the guardian and he noticed several details he never had seen before.

He could even see its weak points highlighted on its body. He even saw an unusual scale under its neck.

'That should be the reverse scale the leader talked about.' Alan thought as he observed.

Usually the reverse scales are hard to notice and will be revealed under special circumstances. Thanks to Alan's new skill he noticed this right away. Apart from that he also noticed other weak points on its body like a particular spot on its spine and another spot near its hind legs.

The stronger weak points were also differentiated from the weak with the amount of glow it gave off. Right now the reverse scale was the spot which gave off a very strong glow and others were not that noteworthy. So Alan decided to focus on the reverse scale.

The whole group arranged themselves according to the group leader's command.

At this time the guardian monster gave out a deafening roar. It was its skill, similar to debuff. Most of the members froze and many felt shivers down their spines. But the experienced ones snapped out of it immediately.

Alan for some reason was immune to it. Maybe it was his special eyes or the law fragment level mastery of elements or something else he didn't know. He didn't give it much of a thought and charged his arrow with his space element principles.

The tanks activated their taunt skill to attract its attention. The guardian monster was very strong which was evident from its strong steps which gave out a shock wave every time it took a step.

It focused on the tank in the forefront while the close and long range damage dealers dealt damage to it as much as they could. Healers went in full force as the tanks took the heavy brunt.

Meanwhile Alan was still charging up his arrow. He wanted to know his max limit. After 5 minutes of charge and burning half of his MP Alan felt as if he had hit his limit.

So he stopped charging his arrow and held the bow for an opportunity.

Soon a damage dealer used a skill which put the guardian into confusion. Although its duration was only 2 seconds it was all Alan needed to deal a heavy blow.

Alan's arrow shattered the reverse scale. It released the charged energy and the space elemental mana wreaked havoc inside its body. The HP bar which was around 80% fell down to zero in an instant.

Alan fell back on to the ground. This shot had a heavy toll on his body. Inwardly he was tearing up as his level is at the limit and can't get any exp. He had lost a huge chunk of exp.
