Chapter 24 - 24: Prelude I

[Warning! Timeline events are soon to begin!]

[Host has four months until the canon event School Reunion begins. It is highly recommended Host prepares for this event!]

Luke was not unaware that, in a few months time, he would have to get to the school where the Krillitanes would set up base. He knew that the bat people were going to use children's souls to solve the paradigm and the Doctor would be tempted to let them do what they would do if it wasn't for Sarah Jane saying what she said.

He cared a lot for his own race and understood that we weren't the only civilization out there, but some people were just horrible regardless. He disliked the Grand Serpent or whatever he called himself for attempting to kill Kate Stewart, so he wasn't afraid to get involved with UNIT once she took over during Eleven's run.

For now, he understood what the System said. He had a few months to prepare for that event as it will aid him to increase his reputation with the Time Lord. This meant he had time to come up with a decent look and appropriate gear.

Before he could focus on it, a serious red-text and black background notification appeared in Luke's vision.

[ALERT! Due to complicated events within the future, the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor has arrived at the church on Ruby Road. As you are closer to the church's spatial-temporal location, an urgent Canon Quest has been issued!]

[Requirements have been partially unlocked! The Church on Ruby Road (I) has been automatically unlocked.]

"Wait, wasn't Ruby only born in 2004?" Luke asked himself as he knew he was only four years old, nearly five. "But, I'm almost six years old..."

Before Luke could answer more, the quest details showed up in his vision.

It didn't take long for Luke to run through his bedroom and burst into his Voidship. He knew that the System placed immense importance on certain events playing out, but Luke didn't understand why the System gave his current self this quest when his future self would be over twenty years old and much more powerful. He decided not to mind that as he bolted straight into the command deck and frantically input the coordinates into 2004 Christmas.

The sound of engines whirring to life erupted into the command deck as Luke and Michael flew through time to aid the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor.

Christmas Eve, 2004. Ruby Road.

The sound of the TARDIS materializing into reality was not heard by many save for a lone black-robed woman walking away from her crying child on a snowy night. Fifteen came out of the fully materialized TARDIS shedding tears as he knew that goblins travelled back in time to consume little baby Ruby, but he knew that he had to go fight them to save her.

To him, it was mere minutes ago that a temporal schism splintered her mother's house and she became unwritten. He saw how sad life became because of Ruby dying as a child, and he cried for the whole time as he travelled in the TARDIS back to save her. He knew that there was no other way for him to save her, but still remained ignorant of his own future.

Dealing with Maestro in the 1960's, Sutekh's return in 2024, and the mysterious woman who is known in 2024 as Susan Triad. He was only just freshly bi-generated due to the Toymaker attacking UNIT and he got hurt by the Galvanic Beam.

Just before he went to go fight the goblins, another sound erupted in the lone street. This sound stunned the Doctor because it was quiet yet crystal clear.

Unlike the wheezing groaning of the TARDIS materializing or dematerializing, this sound inspired something deep inside even the stalwart Time Lord. It was not a sound of thunder nor loud enough to wake the dead, but like faint chimes gently blown by the winds of the Time Vortex itself. He remembered this sound and knew that this was the sound he remembered hearing so often in his travels, but only when things were bad.

He remembered the very first time he heard this sound. Centuries ago, by his point of view, he first heard this sound during the time of the Reality Bomb when Davros was...

...he knew what this sound represented and who it was.

He remembered how he always came on the sound of chimes to help aid him in his darkest moments, yet he never thought that he would hear this sound. Quickly turning off towards the source of the chimes, he noticed that the familiar appearance of the sleek metallic phone box wasn't ragged or...

...he ran over to the box and banged on the door loudly. He felt hope with each loud bang on the door because he knew that he came to help him again.

"LUKE!" The Doctor hollered out. "ARE YOU THERE?"

"Yes, yes," a childish yet immature voice rang out. "I know how it looks, Doctor, but could you not bang so loud on my door? I'm already coming."

The Doctor stopped banging as he kept an eye on little baby Ruby being slowly dragged away by the goblins. He knew that them being slowed was an after-effect of Luke's power and a very welcome one at that.

In the next moment, as the goblins started to slowly hoist up little baby Ruby up into their ship and the Doctor waited breathlessly outside, the door into the Light of Hope quietly clicked open...

...to reveal a barely-six year old child staring right at him in the eyes.

"I hope I'm not late to the party, Doctor," Luke casually remarked in a childish way.
