Genevieve's eyes swept across the hospital lobby, searching for a familiar face as she walked through. Every once in a while, she stole a glance at Adrian's partially concealed face, ensuring he wasn't watching her or noticing her furtive looks.
Her brows furrowed at the mask covering his lower face, which he had donned the moment they stepped out of the car. When she had finally gathered the courage to ask why, his only response had been a single word. Anonymity.
"Keep your eyes on me for one more second, and you'll be kissing the wall."
His bored warning sent her head snapping forward, just in time to see that one more step would have had her colliding straight into the wall.
"Thank you," she murmured, quickly sidestepping before continuing down the hallway beside him.
He didn't get the chance to respond before a woman in a white lab coat appeared at the end of the hall, a wide grin stretching across her face.
