"Who goes there?!"
The moment he reached the gates of the old city, a sharp shout rang out.
At the same time, two Atlantean warriors clad in armor and wielding "high-tech spears" sprang out at once.
They blocked Alex's path.
"This is an imperial restricted zone. Unauthorized personnel are to leave immediately, or you will be dealt with under imperial law!"
The Atlantean warrior on the left shouted sternly at Alex.
"Sorry,"
Alex smiled lightly and casually waved his hand.
"I don't plan on leaving right now."
Boom! Boom!
The two Atlantean warriors were instantly struck by an inexplicable force.
Their bodies shook violently, and they were sent flying backward.
They slammed hard into the nearby wall and went completely still.
As if he had done nothing more than swat away a pair of flies, Alex didn't even spare the two fallen soldiers a glance.
He strode straight down the passageway.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
No sooner had he exited the passage than two full squads of Atlantean warriors rushed out.
But before they could make a single move, Alex merely lifted his hand again.
Every last one of them was effortlessly taken down.
Just like that—
Alex cut through all opposition, gods and Buddhas alike, advancing with unstoppable momentum as he domineeringly charged into the city.
"Princess Mera, this is bad!"
"We're under attack by an unknown intruder!"
On a high platform within the city, an Atlantean warrior rushed up in panic to a woman clad in armor, heroic and imposing, and reported in a deep voice.
That's right—
Princess Mera.
At this point in time, Mera hadn't yet met Arthur. She was still stationed here, leading troops to guard the Mother Box.
It wouldn't be until Steppenwolf's future invasion, when he came to seize the Mother Box, that she would meet Arthur for the first time.
Earlier, Alex had hoped to gain some clues from Princess Mera as well—but that turned out to be the wrong idea.
An intruder?
Upon hearing this, Mera's expression immediately changed.
Aside from the Mother Box, there was nothing else here. The intruder's objective was obvious!
But who would try to steal the Mother Box?
This object concerned the Sea Folk, Humanity, and the Amazons alike.
Not only was it of immense importance, but for Atlantis itself, it was practically useless—a hot potato.
"How many intruders are there?"
"What's the situation outside right now?"
A trace of doubt flashed across her face as Mera fixed her gaze on the warrior beside her and questioned him.
"There's only one intruder. The outer defenses… have completely collapsed!"
"Princess Mera, the intruder is far too powerful!"
The Atlantean warrior reported in a voice filled with shock.
"Only… one person?"
Mera was startled.
How much time had even passed?
That single individual had already torn through all the outer defenses?
That was absurd!
Even King Orm, the strongest warrior of Atlantis, couldn't possibly accomplish something like that!
There was no such monster in the sea!
Whoosh!
Just as she was about to speak again, Mera felt her vision blur.
A young man with glasses—an Eastern-looking face, appearing refined and scholarly—floated gracefully into the scene.
Mera's gaze immediately locked onto Alex, her eyes filling with deep suspicion.
No matter how she looked at him, he didn't resemble a warrior at all.
Was he really that powerful?
But Alex didn't spare Mera even a glance.
At that very moment, his eyes were fixed on the Mother Box, placed atop a massive central pillar.
"Found it."
"So it really is here."
A smile curled up at the corner of Alex's lips.
Whoosh!
With a thought, he stepped onto his transparent surfboard and flew straight toward the Mother Box—
As though Princess Mera and the surrounding Atlantean warriors didn't exist at all.
"How dare you!"
Mera was instantly furious.
Even if this man truly was powerful, wasn't this arrogance taken too far?
Chi-chi-chi!
Chi-chi-chi!
The Atlantean warriors around her didn't hesitate in the slightest.
They raised their weapons and pulled the triggers at Alex.
One energy bolt after another streaked toward him.
But to Alex, those energy blasts were nothing more than a tickle.
He paid them no mind at all, keeping his focus firmly on the Mother Box.
Several energy bolts struck Alex squarely.
"We hit him!"
Mera and several Atlantean warriors immediately brightened with excitement.
But in the next instant—
The smiles on their faces froze.
The expected sight of Alex being injured never came.
The most advanced weapons of Atlantis struck his body like a gentle breeze.
They failed to inflict even the slightest damage.
He didn't even blink.
What?!
The warriors exchanged glances, forcibly suppressing their shock as they raised their weapons once more.
But Alex had no intention of letting those pests continue bothering him.
He casually waved his hand again.
A terrifying force surged outward, stirring up violent undercurrents.
In an instant, the Atlantean warriors were swept away—
Like fallen leaves devoured by a hurricane.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
Cries of alarm and muffled groans rang out.
All of the Atlantean warriors—except Princess Mera—were swallowed up in an instant.
They were completely wiped out.
As for Princess Mera?
She was no ordinary soldier.
A pure-blooded Atlantean noble with powerful hydrokinesis, she was naturally on a completely different level.
Bang!
The moment Alex's undercurrent surged toward her, Mera slammed her hands together.
Her water-controlling ability erupted.
A countercurrent roared out to meet Alex's attack.
The two violent flows collided head-on.
Boom!
Mera's body shook violently, and she was sent flipping backward.
Even so, after being thrown back more than a hundred meters, she managed to stabilize herself.
But when she looked at Alex again, her eyes were filled with deep, undeniable shock.
This man possessed the same ability as her—
And it was far stronger!
Who exactly was he?
Why had she never seen him before?
If Atlantis truly had a powerhouse of this level, it would be impossible for her not to know.
"Who… are you?"
Mera stared intently at Alex and asked in a deep voice.
"The Homelander,"
Alex replied calmly, giving his name.
The Homelander?
Mera's face filled with confusion.
Though the name "Homelander" was already famous across the surface world, this was Atlantis.
Princess Mera had never heard of Alex at all.
