Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20

Saitama didn't bother hiding his thoughts anymore and answered directly.

"That's fine. Shisui is also planning to apply for graduation next semester. I'll apply alongside him."

"Good."

Saitama wasn't being humble. Joining the Uchiha Police Force needed only one excuse—having a mentor to guide his training—and that alone was enough for him.

He had long grown dissatisfied with his slow pace of progress. And now that he had awakened the Sharingan, he needed proper guidance.

Talent alone wasn't enough. Without direction, even the most gifted shinobi would stagnate.

"Then we'll leave it at that for today. I hope to see you among the Police Force soon," said Uchiha Bomori.

Both Bomori and Uchiha Lin stood and made their way to the gate. Their objective had been accomplished, and there was no reason to linger.

"Likewise. I look forward to working with you," Saitama replied, walking them to the door.

He watched the two figures vanish down the street.

This was the first good news he'd received all day: a direct opportunity to join the clan's inner circle.

After shutting the door, Saitama leaned against the frame, reflecting on everything that had just happened.

Originally, his plan was to take things slowly—graduate in his second year at the Academy, then find a skilled jōnin sensei, study hard, and make a name for himself during the Third Shinobi War.

But with this sudden invitation from the Uchiha clan, it was clear they were preparing him for something greater. Secret training, political positioning—he was now part of the clan's living weaponry.

He couldn't have asked for a better turn of events. His goal had always been to stand with the Uchiha. Now he had the chance to be part of the core effort.

"Creak."

The door to Granny Kaka's room opened.

Uchiha Kaka stepped into the courtyard and looked at him warmly.

"Little Saitama… You've always been a thoughtful child. You have your own way of seeing the world, and I won't interfere with your decisions this time. But whatever path you choose in the clan—just make sure you don't regret it."

She smiled gently, like she was stating something obvious but important.

"I know. Don't worry, Grandma," Saitama replied with confidence.

He had no intention of regretting his actions. Taking responsibility for one's choices—that was something every adult should do.

And he was ready. He wouldn't disappoint those who had placed their trust in him.

"Well, I won't nag you anymore."

She changed the subject lightly. "What do you want for dinner? We've still got some chicken left from lunch. I'll get some vegetables and cook something simple?"

"Sure, Granny Kaka."

Saitama didn't care much what he ate. Kaka's cooking was always comforting.

He needed time to digest everything that had happened today.

That night, on the third floor of the house, Saitama sat on a tatami mat.

Beside him were several scrolls left behind by his parents.

People often said the Uchiha clan's signature trait was the Sharingan. But the truth was—not every Uchiha could awaken it.

For many, the real symbols of the Uchiha clan were Fire Release techniques and expert shurikenjutsu.

Most of the scrolls passed down to him featured Fire Release ninjutsu.

There were three in total. Two contained Katon (Fire Release) techniques:

Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu (Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu) — a common yet powerful C-rank technique, where the user builds up chakra in the chest and exhales a massive fireball that can blast enemies away.

Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Jutsu (Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu) — a B-rank technique. It launches multiple fireballs in all directions, often with hidden shuriken inside, making it difficult to dodge.

The third scroll contained a genjutsu technique:

Genjutsu: Song Binding Technique (Magen: Gahang no Jutsu) — a mid-level illusion that paralyzes the target while they remain aware they've been trapped. It's similar in concept to Jiraiya's Sage Art: Toad Confrontation Chant, though far less potent in raw power.

The Phoenix Sage Fire Jutsu was especially impressive. It didn't just create flames—it combined fire release with shuriken, cloaking the projectiles in intense heat. When launched, they resembled flaming impatiens flowers scattered in the wind, hard to predict and harder to evade.

As for the genjutsu, its mental paralysis was useful in one-on-one combat. While not as absolute as high-level illusions, it could easily turn the tide of battle if timed correctly.

Looking over the techniques, Saitama couldn't help but wonder about his parents' identities. These weren't standard-issue Academy scrolls. They were practical, advanced, and obviously meant for real combat.

The clan hadn't reclaimed them either—which meant his family had kept them intentionally.

He gently rolled the scrolls shut and laid down flat on the tatami mat, eyes staring at the ceiling.

He had made his choice.

If he couldn't stomach the actions of Hiruzen Sarutobi or Danzo Shimura, then he would follow Uchiha's path—his path.

He had no loyalty to Konoha.

Since coming to this world, the people he'd connected with the most were the Uchiha. They had shown him respect, guidance, and a sense of belonging.

Yes, some of them were arrogant, just as he remembered from his past life. But beneath that pride, many were sincere and powerful.
