Chapter 326: Daily Life
"Father, I spent the whole day today and learned the principle behind using that technique!"
"Tsk, stupid brother is really useless. It only took me an hour to use the technique directly without hand seals."
"Stop talking nonsense. I split my time for physical training."
"What physical training? You just wanted to have fun and go hunt dangerous species..."
…
In the Hyuga clan lands,
Ryosuke's family of six sat gathered around the dining table in harmony.
To Ryosuke, the conversation between his two children, who were not even one year old, felt completely natural.
But whether it was Hinata, Hanabi, or Hiashi, they all found it hard to accept.
"Ryosuke... have you already started teaching them combat skills?"
Hiashi hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I know we cannot judge the present with our old ideas, but isn't this still a bit too much?"
"You have already started teaching children who are barely one year old how to fight, and even... let them hunt dangerous species that many adults cannot handle."
"At least wait until they are a little older before thinking about this."
Hyuga was changing with each passing day.
The old rule of starting physical training at three, then teaching clan secret techniques between four and five depending on physical fitness, had long since been broken.
Now, many Hyuga children had reached the former jonin level at just a few years old.
Some even used outside help, such as treasures like devil fruits, and could match the level of the former Five Kage.
This incredible growth in combat power had once been something only Ryosuke had achieved in the Hyuga clan. Now... this speed of growth was just the standard by which geniuses in the clan were judged.
What had once been the peak was now the baseline.
Times had truly changed.
Even so, letting Yuichi and Mai hunt dangerous species at the age of two still felt far too dangerous.
Even common dangerous species were worrying.
"Grandpa, you underestimate Mai and me."
Hinata Yuichi was very unhappy with his grandfather's "underestimation." "If it was not for the sake of training our hunting skills, Mai and I could deal with them with just a thought."
Because Ryosuke had grown up in this family, and this body had been adopted as an orphan, he had not let Yuichi and Mai address Hiashi by name, but call him grandpa directly.
"But..."
Hiashi still looked worried.
Perhaps because they were of different generations, he was not as strict with his grandchildren as he had been when training Hinata and Hanabi.
"Well, if I fought Grandpa now, he might not be able to beat me."
Yuichi was already anxious about his grandfather trying to stop him from going out to play. "If Grandpa does not believe me, I can fight you, and I will definitely win..."
"Yuichi!"
Before he could finish, Hinata cut him off.
Yuichi turned his head stiffly and met her cold gaze. "You cannot talk to Grandpa like that."
As she spoke, Hinata glared at Ryosuke, who was eating quietly.
It felt like their father had only taught the children how to train, but not taught them even the most basic principles of how to behave.
But in truth, she was thinking too little.
How could Ryosuke be the kind of person who only valued training and ignored moral lessons? He was the one who had changed Hinata's character back then and led her onto the right path.
"Yuichi, I can feel the fear and guilt in your heart."
Ryosuke put down his chopsticks and calmly looked at Yuichi. "You know what you said just now was wrong, right?"
"I know..."
The moment the words left his mouth, Yuichi already regretted them.
It had been something he blurted out in the heat of the moment. He was used to arguing like that with his sister.
In a moment of carelessness, he had forgotten about respect.
"Since you know you are wrong, should you not think about making amends and apologizing?"
Ryosuke kept his gaze on him.
"Grandpa, I am sorry..."
Yuichi turned his head weakly and apologized to Hiashi, who sat at the main seat.
"It is fine... it is fine."
Hiashi waved his hand kindly. "Do not be so harsh with the child. Yuichi is still young."
"Even if he is young, he still needs to be taught. He always speaks without thinking."
Hinata was still not satisfied. "Do you really think you can do whatever you want just because you have the power of the Tenseigan?"
"If you become stronger than me in the future, are you going to hit your own mother too?"
"Mother..."
Yuichi was already flustered, and his body unconsciously floated up from his seat.
His eyes filled with tears.
He had no idea how to answer. He had not realized that his impulsive words would cause such a reaction.
Next to him, his little sister Mai opened her mouth as if to speak, but closed it when Hanabi signaled her with a look, then quietly continued eating.
"That is enough, that is enough."
Fortunately, Hiashi spoke again and interrupted the argument. "Eat."
He spoke in a low voice.
Under his gaze, Hinata held back the anger in her heart.
"Yuichi, eat."
Hiashi comforted Yuichi and used his chopsticks to place more meat into his bowl until it was full. "You are a little man. Why are you crying? Grandpa does not blame you. Come, eat more. You need to be full to have strength to train."
Yuichi did not answer and just silently ate his food.
Even though he was precocious, and at two years old, when other children were still fussing while being weaned, he could already act like an eleven or twelve year old, he was still just a child.
He knew he was wrong, but after being scolded by his mother, he still could not hold back his tears.
After that meal, the former cheerful atmosphere disappeared.
Perhaps because of his age, Hiashi did not eat as much as before. He left the table first after finishing and said he was going out for a walk.
Without the gentle grandfather constantly placing food into their bowls, the meal ended in a very quiet mood.
"Yuichi, Mai, come take a walk with me."
After eating, the two children had been planning to go bathe.
But Ryosuke called them, and under their confused gazes, he led them outside.
Ryosuke treasured time and focused on real work. Normally, he would never do something that "wasted time" like taking a walk after a meal.
"Father, I really was wrong..."
Yuichi followed anxiously, speaking in a rush.
He thought his father had taken him out for a walk for the first time in his life just to teach him a lesson for what he said at the table.
Without Hanabi around to stop her, Mai quickly spoke up to plead for her brother as well.
"I am not here to lecture you."
Ryosuke did not need to read minds to know what was going through his son's head. "Come on, let us go take a look at the training grounds."
It was the first time the two children had ever taken a walk with their father. They had no idea what they should say and just followed him in silence.
On the way, many Hyuga clan members glanced sideways at the father and his two children. From time to time, someone would come over to greet the young masters, and Yuichi and Mai politely greeted them back.
As they approached the training grounds, the number of people gradually decreased until there was almost no one left.
It was dinner time now, and most people had gone home to eat.
Even after dinner, almost no one would come to start training again so soon.
"Father, why did you bring us here..."
Mai could not help asking.
"Shh."
Ryosuke gestured for them to be quiet and told them to focus on the training ground.
"That is... Grandpa!"
Mai could not help exclaiming, but Ryosuke blocked her voice at just the right moment.
Yuichi, who had not been very interested, immediately rushed to the edge and looked toward the training ground when he heard it was their grandfather.
Sure enough, in the dim sunset, a white haired old man was swinging his fists.
His movements were not fast, nor particularly powerful.
Because of his age, his stamina was also clearly lacking. But he was indeed their grandfather, Hiashi.
"Grandpa... I thought he went out for a walk."
Yuichi muttered. He seemed to have guessed why, but at the same time, he did not want to accept the answer his heart was giving him.
"Who can be happy being looked down on by their own grandson? Who can really pretend not to care?"
Ryosuke calmly watched his father in law.
To be honest, he looked even weaker now than when he had sparred with him back then.
After stepping down as clan head, Hiashi had really lived an ordinary life and never returned to training.
It was as if he had let go of his identity as a ninja entirely.
But today, pushed by Yuichi's words, he had finally decided to try reclaiming that past self.
"Is Grandpa usually good to you two?"
Ryosuke asked quietly.
"Yeah."
Yuichi nodded with some guilt.
This time, Mai did not say anything to help her brother.
Hiashi had always treated them well, giving them almost anything they wanted.
No matter how unreasonable the request, as long as they wheedled a little, their grandfather would do his best to meet it.
And now...
"You two are very smart. I think... you already understand what I, as your father, want to tell you."
Ryosuke slowly turned to face them. "For a student to surpass his teacher is only natural. There is nothing to be proud of in being stronger than Grandpa."
"Strength is not something you can use to belittle others whenever you want."
"Go back, and do not embarrass Grandpa again."
He had brought his children here only so they could see this scene with their own eyes.
From beginning to end, Ryosuke had not shown any anger. Instead, he used a calm attitude to guide them to think clearly.
Then he let them see with their own eyes what consequences a single arrogant thought could have.
This was his first time being a father. In both his past and present lives, whether as an ordinary person or as Boros, this was the only time.
So Ryosuke had been thinking carefully about how he should be a good father.
Should he become friends with his children, let them speak to him without reserve, or should he be like Hiashi, strict and imposing?
Ryosuke thought about it for a long time and finally decided on his path.
Rationality.
A family needed both rationality and emotion.
Hinata was undoubtedly the emotional one, and while she kept great control over her feelings in front of outsiders,
In front of family, whether she was dealing with Hiashi, Hanabi, Ryosuke, or the children, she acted with her heart.
She would get angry when the children were fooling around and getting into trouble, and she would be happy when they made progress in training or helped with chores.
Hinata taught the children to feel, to show their emotions.
As a father, he would teach them to think, to face their lives correctly.
So he became a father they feared and respected, but still could not help wanting to get close to.
Ryosuke deliberately kept a bit of distance, so they would not try to rely on their age to take advantage of him, cry, or act shameless.
But whenever they needed help, he would give them the most reasonable support...
…
"Why did you drag the children off to watch my father make a fool of himself?"
Before bed that night, Hinata could not help complaining.
"You figured it out?"
Ryosuke had just finished his shower and lay down on the bed when he heard her. He sounded a little surprised.
"I am not blind. When Father came back, his chakra flow and blood were stirred up. It was obvious he had just gone through intense training."
Hinata rolled her eyes. "And those two kids were trying their hardest to please him and get close to him."
"It is obvious you took them to watch him train in secret so they would feel guilty and reflect on what they did."
"But doing that completely ruins my father's dignity."
"We are family. Why talk about dignity?"
Ryosuke reached out and ruffled her hair. "The important thing is that the kids understand that a casual remark from them hurt the grandfather who spoils them so much."
Hinata hesitated for a moment. "...My father never spoiled me like that when I was a kid."
"You are jealous."
Ryosuke gave a small laugh. "Hyuga Hinata, you are unbelievable. You are actually jealous of your own children."
"But he is too biased. When I was washing dishes just now, Hanabi was complaining too."
Hinata made it clear she was not alone.
Soon though, she changed the subject, not wanting to stay on such an awkward topic. "I heard the world you have been searching for has finally been found."
At the mention of that world, Ryosuke's smile faded and he nodded.
"That world... is very dangerous, isn't it?"
Hinata could not help pressing herself closer to him. "How about... you do not go."
Just from how important it was to him, she could tell that the danger of that world was on a completely different level from anything else.
"Some things have to be faced sooner or later."
Ryosuke shook his head. "After a while, when the children's training stabilizes, I will go take a look."
Even though he could not wait, he had been hesitating.
After all, he was no longer the lonely man he had once been. Now he had a wife, children, and a family.
There were many things he could no longer decide based on his own feelings alone.
