Hearing that, Rachel felt a little bit of the tightness in her chest loosen. So Madam Turner had just gone grocery shopping.
That meant she probably wasn't too far from home and would be back any minute.
After getting the basics of what happened, Rachel gave Liam clear instructions. "Liam, listen to me carefully, okay? When your mommy wakes up, help her loosen her collar a little and get a pillow to put under her feet to raise them up. Auntie is calling for an ambulance right now. If Grandma comes back, just tell her what's going on, okay?"
"Okay, got it," Liam's little voice replied, trying to be brave.
Rachel's fingers flew across her phone as she dialed the emergency number.
Her heart was pounding as she gave them Lauren's address and explained the situation as fast as she could.
Fifteen minutes later, Madam Turner called. She said the ambulance had arrived and the paramedics had checked Lauren over.
