"Well then, I won't touch her," Garrett Vincent said calmly. "After all, she's not the person I'm looking for."
Even though she looked so much like the one he'd been searching for… sometimes, when he looked at her, it felt like he was staring at the grown-up version of that girl.
But in the end, it was only a resemblance. Not the real thing.
"What if she is the one you're looking for? Would you still back off?" Jeffrey raised an eyebrow as he asked, almost challenging him.
Garrett's expression didn't change, but his sharp eyes flickered with emotion, like something hidden deep down was stirring. "If she is, then even if I have to go against you, I won't let her go."
Jeffrey narrowed his eyes. "So... good thing she's not, right?"
"Yeah. Good thing she's not," Garrett replied, then turned around and walked off.
Good thing she's not.
If she really was... this whole thing would become way too complicated.
