To make Knuckle's ability, "Hakoware," even more devastating, they only needed to remember one thing:
Run! As long as they ran, no one could defeat those two.
Hearing Loki say, "So it's you," Meleoron was confused. "You... you know me?"
Loki paused, then shook his head. "You're a Chimera Ant squad leader, right?"
"Uh... well, listen to me. Even though I'm a Chimera Ant squad leader, I have no intention of harming humans," Meleoron said, feeling unprecedented pressure from Loki's intense gaze.
He spoke as quickly as he could, afraid that Loki would suddenly attack without listening to him.
"I'm on your side. I hate the Chimera Ants, and I hate the King!"
"Please, believe me!"
"I don't know what to say. I suddenly have all these memories that might not be mine, and now..."
As he frantically tried to explain, Loki raised his hand, and the ice around his feet melted.
Meleoron didn't know why Loki had suddenly released him.
"Come with me," Loki said, turning and walking away.
Meleoron stood there, unsure of what to do. How had things suddenly turned out this way?
Loki stopped and turned back. "Not coming? If you don't come, I'll kill you."
Hearing this, Meleoron quickly followed Loki.
Why Loki had suddenly spared him didn't matter; surviving was the priority.
Soon, they arrived at a massive tree.
Loki pointed up at the tree.
"Follow me up."
Meleoron nodded.
They jumped up to a hidden platform at the top of the tree, a platform so large that five grown men couldn't encircle the trunk.
Ging stood on the platform, looking at Loki and the Chimera Ant behind him.
"You brought back another Chimera Ant! Loki, are you serious about exterminating the King?"
Ging started to complain.
Loki turned and glanced at Meleoron. "This Chimera Ant is different."
"How so?"
"He can completely conceal himself and approach enemies undetected. Anyone he touches can also become invisible. Even En can't detect it."
Loki gestured for Meleoron to demonstrate for Ging.
Meleoron looked at Ging, sensing his powerful aura. 'Another terrifying human!' He activated God's Alibi.
Ging was stunned. "He actually has such a powerful ability?"
Meleoron vanished before his eyes, leaving no trace. Ging tried to sense him with En, but found nothing.
Just as he was about to praise Loki, Ging suddenly turned to him. "By the way, he has this ability. How did you find him?"
"Instinct!"
Instinct? What kind of ability was that?
Ging stared at Loki for a full minute.
Loki looked back, as if saying, "Can't you sense it?"
They exchanged questioning glances.
Could he sense it? Could he not? Finally, Ging sighed, rubbing his head in frustration. "I can't judge you with normal logic."
Instinct! Meleoron's ability, God's Alibi, couldn't be countered with simple "instinct."
Ging looked at Loki's calm face.
He had a realization.
'Loki probably doesn't even realize it, but his heightened awareness of his surroundings is something ordinary people can't possess.'
It was a special talent.
Just like Ging himself.
He could replicate nearly any striking-based Nen ability after seeing it once.
That wasn't his Nen ability; it was Ging's special talent.
Compared to Loki's special talent, Ging's ability to mimic attacks seemed impressive, but Ging knew it was far inferior to Loki's preternatural senses.
To be able to sense an ability that was designed to be undetectable...
Loki's senses could allow him to predict enemy attacks in battle.
Watching Loki talking to Meleoron, Ging thought about Netero.
'Netero, did you even realize what kind of monster you took in?' Now Ging understood what Netero had meant.
'Releasing a monster like him... was it the right thing to do?'
"So, Ging, let him work with Knuckle. I think it will have unexpected results."
Loki turned to Ging, who was lost in thought.
"Huh? What did you say?"
Ging snapped out of his reverie. He hadn't heard a word Loki had said.
Loki sighed and repeated himself.
Hearing Loki's suggestion, Ging frowned.
"Why should he work with Knuckle?"
Such a unique ability would be most effective when paired with a strong fighter.
If Meleoron and Loki teamed up...
Imagine the scenario.
Loki, using God's Alibi to approach the King undetected, could unleash his full power, attacking the King without warning.
What would happen?
Even the King would be severely injured, if not killed, if struck by Loki's full power while unprepared.
There was an over 80% chance the King would be killed outright.
Hearing Ging's question, Loki knew what he was thinking.
Not using such a unique ability to attack the King, but instead pairing him with Knuckle, seemed like a waste.
"I understand what you're thinking, Ging, but Meleoron's abilities might not work well with mine!"
He couldn't work well with him! Ging slapped his forehead, remembering a crucial point.
Loki's aura was far beyond Meleoron's.
Meleoron probably couldn't maintain God's Alibi while Loki was unleashing his full power.
Seeing Ging understand, Loki said nothing more.
In reality, Loki and Meleoron could work together.
Using God's Alibi, Loki could use the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan.
Amaterasu! If Amaterasu's flames struck the King, he would probably die.
But Loki wasn't planning to do that.
He wanted to ensure he received the S-rank reward.
If Loki couldn't defeat the King head-on, he probably wouldn't get the S-rank reward.
In that case, he might as well just kill the King with the Poor Man's Rose.
The worst he could get was an A-rank reward.
He didn't need God's Alibi for that.
While Loki and Ging were silent, Meleoron sat quietly behind them.
Today was the most humiliating day he'd experienced since becoming a Chimera Ant.
He felt like he'd been kidnapped by humans.
A sharp whistling sound cut through the air.
Koruto landed on the platform.
Seeing Koruto, Meleoron felt like he'd found family.
"Koruto!"
Meleoron stood up and ran to Koruto, embracing him tightly.
Koruto, caught off guard, was stunned. "Meleoron? What are you doing here?"
"Meleoron"
After a brief explanation, Meleoron omitted the part about being forced to follow Loki and instead emphasized that he had chosen to cooperate with the humans in order to defeat the King.
"Good, Meleoron. It seems you haven't forgotten Her Majesty's death."
Koruto nodded, looking pleased.
At that moment, Loki spoke calmly.
