Chapter 11 - Chapter 21:The Ashes of Escaping

Inside the smoldering bank, A.D. exchanged a brief, knowing smile with Ray Donovan and the remaining gang members. The mood was tense. Outside, chaos intensified—Officer Hale had just been removed from the case, and the aggressive Second-in-Command had taken over. His orders were clear: breach the bank, neutralize the criminals.

Suddenly, the sharp sound of gunfire erupted. Bullets shattered windows. Smoke and sparks rained down. The bank interior was torn apart in seconds.

A call came in from A.D. on the police channel.

"We want peace. Cease fire," A.D.'s voice rang calmly through the line.

The Second-in-Command smirked. "Then release the hostages and surrender."

A.D. replied evenly, "First, we must evacuate the injured. Send in medical staff—now."

Within minutes, a medical team entered the bank. Among them was the same female doctor who had previously treated Ethan Black. A few injured hostages were wheeled out on stretchers. Hidden among them was Olivia Shaw—the gang's planted insider—camouflaged as a wounded civilian. Moments later, an ambulance disappeared toward the hospital.

Inside the bank, tension rose. Ray looked uncertain. A.D., still composed, turned to him.

"I made a promise, Ray. I keep my word."

He gave quick orders.

"Chloe," he said to the hacker, "disable the fire alarm system—now. Logan, burn it."

Gasoline containers were already prepared. Flames began to lick the edges of the building. Smoke poured from broken windows.

Firefighters were called. As they burst inside, the hostages came running out in panic. Police rushed in moments later—only to find A.D., sitting silently in the smoke. The others were gone.

Ray Donovan. Logan. Chloe. Jackson. Olivia. All gone.

The vaults were empty. So was the evidence.

A.D. was arrested on the spot.

Later That Night – Police Interrogation Room

Detective Hale stood across from A.D.

"Where are they?" Hale demanded. "Where's the money?"

A.D. said nothing. But in his mind, he saw it all again.

Earlier that day, A.D. had passed a folded note to the doctor during Ethan's surgery. The note read: Help us get out, and you'll be paid more than your hospital ever could.

The injured "hostages" who left on stretchers? They carried bags of cash under their covers.

The gang? Disguised as firefighters in gear secretly provided by the doctor.

A.D. never ran. He stayed behind—his final act of loyalty.

In his cell that night, A.D. took a piece of chalk and scrawled two letters on the wall: "G.C."

Days Later – Prison Transport Convoy

As the van carrying A.D. rolled toward City Jail, a group of unknown assailants blocked the road. Within minutes, they had overpowered the guards and vanished with A.D.

The headlines read: "Bank Mastermind Escapes in Daring Highway Ambush."

Elsewhere — Peace and Questions

At home, Hale held his wife, Angelina, and daughter Emily. He had his family—but Emily's thoughts drifted to the man who'd risked everything. A.D.

That evening, Hale's phone rang. A burner number.

"Hello?" Hale answered.

"I know you have questions," came A.D.'s voice.

He continued, "Emily's been listening too. I knew she was your daughter all along... but I never harmed her. I couldn't."

There was a pause.

"To Emily: I have feelings for you. But I had to walk away."

And finally, to Hale: "Don't think this is over. I'll be seeing you again."

The call ended.

A.D. was gone—but his story was far from finished.
