Volume 1 Chapter 21: Hiss~
Once inside the amusement park, Ning Chu found himself no longer in the mood to enjoy anything.
His face clouded with gloom, he trailed behind Wen Yang and Wang Jie, his head lowered, eyes constantly fixed on the two walking ahead.
"Each ride costs a few dozen yuan—not that bad," Wang Jie said, glancing around at the pricing for various attractions. "The cheapest one, the merry-go-round, is only ten yuan."
"What do you guys want to play? I'm not really in the mood for anything."
Wen Yang didn't respond to Wang Jie's question. He kept glancing back at Ning Chu with worry in his eyes. Just minutes ago on the bus, this roommate of his had been lively and cheerful like a little angel. But now, he looked like he was about to shut down completely.
"I'm gonna hit the bathroom—"
Before he even finished the sentence, Ning Chu suddenly looked up. "I'll go too!"
He stuck close to Wen Yang's side, eyes flicking about nervously as if every stranger were a potential threat.
He had never really thought about what it would feel like to be alone in a strange world, separated from the few people he trusted.
Now he knew—it felt just like being a kid lost in a crowded mall: helpless, overwhelmed, and terrified.
But back then, his mom would come searching for him in a panic.
Now? His mother in this world was a complete stranger—he didn't even know what she looked like.
And the real one... was already gone.
"I'm gonna grab a sausage skewer," Wang Jie said, already heading toward a nearby food stall.
Ning Chu followed Wen Yang to a public restroom not far away.
Honestly, he didn't even need to pee. Originally, he was going to wait outside. But the moment he saw Wen Yang's figure disappear behind the doorway, a surge of uncontrollable panic overtook him, and he rushed in without thinking.
But as soon as he rounded the corner—
BAM
—He ran straight into Wen Yang.
Rubbing his forehead and stumbling back a step, Ning Chu looked up—and finally let out a breath of relief.
"What's gotten into you now?" Wen Yang stared at Ning Chu's cautious, timid posture with furrowed brows. "Why are you acting like this all of a sudden?"
"I guess... I get nervous around strangers?"
Even Ning Chu knew he was probably overreacting. But in this absurd world he was now stuck in—one pulled straight out of a mashup hentai webnovel—being careful seemed entirely reasonable.
Just thinking back on that malicious gaze from earlier… it was like this world itself harbored ill intent toward him.
Sure, maybe most people here were "normal"—but who knew what might pop out from some dark alley one day? A tentacle monster?
He had written scenes like that—magical girls, tentacles… the usual stuff in the R18+ genre.
"Nervous around strangers?" Wen Yang blinked. He looked into Ning Chu's wide, kitten-like eyes filled with fear and helplessness, then sighed. "I never noticed that before."
"Mm…"
Ning Chu hadn't realized either that he could be so fragile.
Feeling a little embarrassed, he lowered his head and followed Wen Yang into the men's restroom, shuffling behind him.
Strangely enough, the narrow, enclosed space made him feel a little more secure.
He lingered near the entrance, fiddling with his phone, thoughts running wild.
Even if he managed to avoid all the plot-related crises… would he ever really live a peaceful life in a world like this?
Not to mention the weird characters that could still show up later in the story—
His brain took a sharp turn.
Wait a sec—what kind of "capital" does the protagonist even have...?
He looked up. Curiosity suddenly flared too brightly to contain.
Ning Chu tiptoed to Wen Yang's side, pretending he was about to pee too.
But then—he craned his neck and peeked downward.
"Hiss~"
What the hell?! That's huge! Terrifying!
In all his lives—past and present—he'd never seen something so monstrous.
How do normal girls even survive that?!
"What are you doing?" Wen Yang jumped, startled.
Faced with Ning Chu's wide-eyed look of awe and admiration, his face flushed redder than a ripe tomato.
Ning Chu quickly looked away, acting casual. "Nothing. Just wanted a peek."
Heaven knows how the female supporting characters in the novel could handle that—they must all be gifted, right?
So… Now that i'm a female supporting character too…
Does that mean I'm gifted as well?
When he thought about his own little manhood, Ning Chu felt nothing but envy toward Wen Yang.
"...So big..." he murmured in awe.
Wen Yang's expression was starting to crack. He walked out of the restroom looking visibly weirded out, but his eyes kept drifting back to Ning Chu.
This guy was just… way too strange.
If it had been any other guy giving him a curious look of admiration, he might not have been this uncomfortable.
But when it was someone with Ning Chu's baby-faced looks, it just made him feel guilty, like he'd corrupted a child.
"You took forever in the bathroom," Wang Jie grumbled as the two rejoined him. He held out his sausage skewer. "I already finished one while waiting."
"Thanks."
Ning Chu took it and took a bite, then asked, "Wanna walk around for a bit?"
"I was looking at the park map earlier," Wang Jie said. "There's a pool, and the ticket's not that expensive. Wanna go swimming?"
Wen Yang didn't seem to mind the idea, but Ning Chu instantly frowned and shook his head.
Even if he still saw himself as a guy, he couldn't ignore how much his chest had developed. There was no way he could just strip down like the others, throw on some trunks, and jump into the water.
"We didn't come prepared," he replied quickly, seizing the excuse. "We didn't bring extra clothes."
"True."
"Let's just walk around."
The three of them strolled through the amusement park. They didn't end up riding much, but their hands were soon full of snacks.
Ning Chu had a hamburger egg bun in his left hand, a towering cone of stacked chips in his right. With so many high-calorie treats fueling his brain, the dopamine kicked in fast, melting away much of the tension he'd been feeling earlier.
"Goldfish scooping!"
His eyes lit up at the sight of a small booth in the corner. "I've never tried that before!"
"It's pretty cheap too," Ning Chu said, turning to Wen Yang with a grin. "We could scoop a few and keep them in the dorm."
Besides the goldfish game, the corner was filled with carnival-style booths—balloon darts, ring tosses, fishing games. He had clearly found the budget entertainment zone.
Compared to the expensive rides that cost dozens of yuan each, these were both fun and affordable.
"No complaints here."
Wen Yang's gaze drifted to the ring toss booth. He chuckled, "I'm so good at ring toss, I could bankrupt the owner."
"For real?"
Goldfish were immediately forgotten.
"Do you want anything? I'll win it for you."
Ning Chu lit up. He rose on his toes and started scanning the prizes displayed behind the ring toss stand. "How about that plush toy?"
"You like that one?"
"My desk is so empty," he replied casually. "It would be nice to have something cute on it."
They paid for a few rings, and Wen Yang stepped up to the marked white line. Holding the rings in one hand, he carefully calculated the distance and angle, adjusted his wrist, and gently tossed the first one—
It landed right in an empty space.
Ning Chu instantly started booing him playfully. "Boo~ That's weak!"
"It's been a while. Lost my touch."
"Try harder, come on!"
Wen Yang shot him a look.
This brat's mouth was so annoying, but those wide, eager eyes peeking over his shoulder were filled with so much expectation, it was hard not to be affected.
Caught between the pressure and the challenge, he suddenly felt fired up.
"This one's going in for sure!"
