Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: President Pei’s Thoughtful Intentions!

At first, Huang Sibo didn't realize it, but after hearing Bao Xu's explanation, he began to see it clearly as well.

Because up until this moment, everything seemed perfectly aligned—as if meticulously arranged by President Pei!

President Pei had explicitly required a story mode in the game, and under current conditions, Bao Xu's proposed solution seemed ideal.

And, remarkably, the solution turned out to be genuinely good!

Could this merely be a coincidence?

No way! President Pei, having already created two successful games and clearly laying out three requirements before this game's development, obviously had this planned from the very start!

Truly, President Pei was unfathomable, always a step ahead…

Huang Sibo couldn't help but shiver a bit. Was this what the world of a true game design master was like?

"Hold on, there's another issue," Huang Sibo suddenly asked. "About President Pei's other two requirements—how do you interpret and plan to implement them? One is to reduce difficulty for newcomers; the other is to sell epic weapons priced at 888 yuan for permanent use."

Bao Xu was confident in his answer: "I've already considered both points."

"Lowering difficulty to cater to beginners mainly comes down to gameplay adjustments. It's quite simple—just expand the hitboxes, tweak bullet trajectory, and speed up weapon switching and aiming. These details aren't urgent; we can adjust them gradually."

"As for why President Pei specifically asked for this—I admit I haven't fully grasped his intention yet, but since President Pei said it, it surely has deeper meaning. All we have to do is follow his instructions."

"But selling epic weapons is definitely President Pei's farsightedness!"

"At first, I didn't understand and thought he just wanted us to sell an expensive weapon."

"But after reconsidering, how could President Pei suggest something so simple? There must be deeper implications waiting for us to uncover!"

"It took me a long while to understand this clearly."

"He mentioned epic weapons at 888 yuan for permanent use—but what about limited-time pricing?"

"And if we have epic weapons, shouldn't there be ordinary, elite, and hero-level weapons too?"

"How should players obtain these different weapons? Also selling permanent rights? No, absolutely not!"

"President Pei explicitly stated epic weapons at 888 yuan permanent use, meaning other weapons aren't for direct sale!"

"In other words, he's hinting at a graded weapon system—ordinary, elite, hero, and epic tiers. All these weapons would be divided into two types: permanent and time-limited."

"Besides the epic weapons at 888 yuan, other weapons could be acquired through various means."

"For example, giving a weapon after players clear certain story chapters;"

"Rewarding a weapon after a certain number of multiplayer matches;"

"Awarding another weapon after players log in for a certain number of consecutive days!"

"I believe this is what President Pei truly intended!"

Huang Sibo finally understood clearly: "So that's it! I was wondering why President Pei made such an oddly specific request. Turns out there's a hidden meaning!"

Bao Xu continued: "Moreover, while conceiving the story mode, I noticed certain leftover elements could be repurposed for additional gameplay modes!"

"For instance, since our story already includes mutated zombies, we could easily add a zombie mode!"

"And, if some mercenaries are transformed into partially invisible ghost-like creatures, we could introduce a ghost mode!"

"Alongside our original plans for standard team deathmatch, elimination, and bomb defusal modes, the game's gameplay variety suddenly becomes extremely rich!"

"These modes wouldn't demand many extra art assets, mainly just programming resources, which won't significantly delay our development—totally feasible!"

Huang Sibo quickly typed down all these brainstormed ideas into the document.

Perfect—absolutely perfect!

When President Pei first handed him the project, Huang Sibo felt lost, completely unsure about how to proceed.

President Pei's three demands initially made him feel overwhelmed.

But after hearing Bao Xu's analysis, everything suddenly fell into place!

President Pei wasn't deliberately making things difficult—instead, he was giving subtle guidance through these requirements!

Huang Sibo suddenly felt moved.

Obviously, President Pei knew Huang Sibo and Bao Xu's limited capabilities, understanding they'd struggle to independently plan a game and easily go astray.

If a game's direction veered off track, it meant certain failure; pouring more resources into it would only push the project further in the wrong direction.

Thus, President Pei locked the project's direction firmly through his three requirements!

"So that's how it is… President Pei is looking after us," Huang Sibo muttered.

"He didn't want to handle everything himself, as that wouldn't offer us any room for growth."

"In this subtle way, President Pei gave us hints, allowing us to come up with ideas independently and design a good game…"

"President Pei… truly put in a lot of thought…"

Huang Sibo's eyes became moist.

He resolved himself to write the design documents carefully, ensuring this game was created perfectly, determined never to disappoint President Pei's expectations!

. . . .

November 14, Wednesday morning.

Pei Qian had classes over the past two days and didn't visit the company.

Currently, most of the company's work revolves around waiting for the design team to complete the initial design proposal. Before the proposal was finalized, there wasn't much to do anyway.

If he went to the company, he might even disrupt everyone's leisurely pace, so he chose to stay away.

Today's class was taught by that same teacher who always said, "I'm not taking attendance; I just want to get to know everyone," yet often took attendance anyway. Pei Qian remembered clearly how he'd been tricked before.

He certainly wouldn't fall into the same trap again!

But, truth be told, this class was truly dull…

Pei Qian yawned, took out his phone, and checked how much longer before class ended.

Just then, he noticed Huang Sibo had mentioned him in the company's group chat and sent a file:

"President Pei, we've finished most of the initial design proposal. Please take a look and confirm if we're heading in the right direction."

He attached a document.

"Two days… Is that considered fast or slow? Probably fast, right? Whatever, let's just have a look first."

Pei Qian didn't have a clear idea of how quickly a design proposal should be completed. However, at this pace, finishing the full design by the end of the week seemed achievable.

After all, the new employees had just joined and were still highly motivated, barely slacking off.

Well, hopefully, they'd soon realize that slacking off a little wouldn't be a big deal…

Pei Qian opened the document.

"…So dizzy."

Pei Qian had never written nor even seen a design proposal before; this was his first time.

His first impression: dizziness!

The content was simply too much!

A large design document could easily stretch dozens of pages, exceeding ten thousand words, with each point carefully listed out.

Even a single short phrase could be crucial—every word mattered!

Moreover, Huang Sibo's document was just an initial draft, meaning it hadn't been revised yet.

Some sections were overly detailed, while others were overly simplistic; both would need repeated modifications later.

Huang Sibo's intention was clear—first, let President Pei glance over the document to confirm the general direction. If it were confirmed, they could then move on to detailed revisions.

Otherwise, if they meticulously revised it first only to find that the main direction was wrong, they'd have to start all over again—a complete waste of effort.

Unfortunately, Pei Qian was now in an awkward position.

The document was lengthy, somewhat disorganized, and he was viewing it on a tiny mobile screen…

Pei Qian suddenly had an urge to die.

He quickly flipped through the pages, scanning the contents hastily, checking if Huang Sibo had carefully addressed his three requirements.

Huang Sibo seemed to have anticipated this and clearly marked those key points, allowing Pei Qian to locate them immediately.

First, the story mode—yes, it was there, and they planned about three to four hours, which was quite substantial.

Second, lowering the difficulty—check.

Third, epic weapons—they adhered strictly to Pei Qian's pricing request: permanent use rights at 888 yuan.

"Excellent! Everything's been done exactly as I asked!"

Pei Qian was thrilled.

He promptly replied:

"Looks good. Keep going in this direction."
