Chapter 52 - Five points

Suddenly, a green figure tore through the sky, streaked over Zhou Shan, and charged into the group of more than ten students. With a single punch per person, all of them were knocked unconscious and fell to the ground within just over ten seconds.

The scene was incredibly shocking, especially to Zhou Shan. These were second-batch trial students, each possessing strength rivaling the top talents of major academies. Yet, facing that green-clad woman, they couldn't even put up a resistance. How could that be possible? And her speed—wasn't it far too fast?

In the distant sky, Lu Yin and the others had just taken off when they witnessed this very moment, their eyes filled with equal shock.

Back when the green-clad woman had snatched the stone, she definitely wasn't this fast—otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to block her. Now she was so much faster; she must have obtained a legacy from within the stone.

Outside the capital, the green-clad woman furrowed her brow. "So this is White Flash... still a bit too slow. As I thought, it works best during the day. I'll try again tomorrow."

The dozen or so students were immediately apprehended by Evolvers and brought into the city, including Jenny Ona. At this point, a total of forty-two students had been captured in the capital.

Lu Yin, without any pretentiousness, began looting. From the previously captured group alone, he had already obtained twenty cubic crystals. Jenny Ona alone had contributed nearly fifteen cubes—more than even Russ—making her the most resource-rich among all the captured students. With the addition of the newly captured group, Lu Yin's total amount of star energy crystals reached forty-two cubes—exactly the same as the number of captured students.

It was a sizable fortune. Jenny Ona, heir to the Ona family, only had fifteen cubes, but Lu Yin now held three times that amount.

Turns out robbery really is the most profitable path. Lu Yin was thrilled—he could roll the die again.

After greeting Zhang Dingtian, Lu Yin went into seclusion. He had no choice but to consume some of the star energy crystals, otherwise his Spatial Ring simply didn't have enough space.

He buried flame crystals around him, then raised his hand. A die materialized before him. This time, its surface was no longer dim but had regained some of its luster.

Lu Yin didn't want to wait for it to recover on its own. With flair, he crushed one cubic star energy crystal. Instantly, the die absorbed energy madly, its surface quickly recovering, shrouded in a hazy starlight.

Whenever this happened, Lu Yin felt both excited and anxious. He slowly stretched out a finger and reverently tapped the die. It spun rapidly, finally stopping to reveal—one dot.

One dot again. Lu Yin looked on with anticipation—what would he steal this time?

Soon, a star energy crystal the size of a fist dropped from the void, hitting the ground with a clatter.

Lu Yin stared at it speechlessly. One whole cube of star energy crystal had been exchanged for this? The gap was a thousand-fold. Gambling really was a deadly vice. The one-dot result was terrifying. Still, he collected himself. No big deal—he had plenty of money. He would keep going.

He crushed another cube of star energy crystal, and the die returned to its restored form.

He tapped it again.

Still one dot. Lu Yin was speechless. How bad could his luck get? The odds of getting something good from one dot were incredibly low!

And indeed, this time he got... he stared wide-eyed. Was that... toilet paper? Enraged, Lu Yin cursed. Who the hell puts toilet paper in a Spatial Ring? What kind of animal would do that? He was so mad he wanted to cross a black hole just to beat up the bastard who had done it. Toilet paper—seriously?

It took a while for him to calm down. Two whole cubes of star energy crystal, gone. All he got was a fist-sized star energy crystal and a roll of toilet paper. If Granny knew, she'd cry her eyes out. Her entire fortune was only a few dozen star energy crystals, and he had just lost two thousand times that in value.

Only now did Lu Yin realize how lucky he had been the first time he got the Heavenly Star Technique. That day, it must have been the luck of the entire universe concentrated on him.

Should he wait a bit? Maybe today was just unlucky? He thought about it as he crushed another cube of star energy crystal, then shook his head. Whatever—he had the money.

Nervously, he tapped the die. As it slowly stopped spinning, it showed—four dots.

Lu Yin exhaled in relief. Four dots—the Time Stop Space. Not a bad roll.

In the next moment, Lu Yin appeared inside the grayish-white Time Stop Space, behind him a countdown ticking down second by second.

The initial duration was three days. He had to stay in this space for three days. He began thinking about how to use the time. Three days wasn't long enough to train in the Heavenly Star Palm, and he only knew seven forms of the Celestial Beast Claw. That left only one option—the punch he had seen in the legacy stone. That punch had thrown him out of the legacy stone, but in that instant when he activated the Heavenly Star Technique, he had seen the essence of that punch. The green-clad woman had gained that kind of speed—but he had obtained that punch.

With that in mind, Lu Yin calmed his breathing, and a vision of a punch glowing in black and white surfaced in his mind—the White Night Punch.

Three days later, when the final second ticked away, Lu Yin emerged from the Time Stop Space, visibly exhausted.

Time might be frozen inside that space, but physical fatigue wasn't erased. He casually ate some food, rested for the night, and only woke up the next morning.

"Continue," Lu Yin said in a low growl, crushing a Star Energy Crystal to restore the dice.

This was the fourth roll. The moment his finger touched the dice, a wave of dizziness hit Lu Yin's mind. He shook his head to shake it off without paying much attention. The dice slowly stopped spinning, revealing a two.

Two meant the ability to disassemble items.

Perfect. He had stolen quite a lot recently, so he directly disassembled a batch, obtaining some strange metal materials he didn't recognize. After the disassembly vortex disappeared, he crushed another Star Energy Crystal and touched the dice again.

The dizziness grew stronger, and his vision blurred suddenly. Lu Yin's expression changed. He recalled that the dice was his innate talent, and such talents couldn't be used endlessly, just like Star Energy—it would eventually be exhausted. Overusing the talent would cause the brain to enter a dormant state.

His body swayed and nearly collapsed—he had unknowingly reached his limit. Five rolls—that was the limit.

He shook his head hard and looked at the dice. On the fifth roll, an unprecedented number appeared—five.

The dice had six faces. So far, Lu Yin had rolled one, two, and four; now it was five.

Seeing the five, an inexplicable meaning appeared in Lu Yin's mind—"Talent Borrowing."

Talent Borrowing meant that after rolling a five, he could borrow the innate talent of a person he touched and store it in the dice, allowing himself to use it once before it disappeared. The condition was that he must touch the talent cultivator within ten seconds; otherwise, the function would be lost.

Lu Yin glanced at the time—two seconds had already passed. He hurriedly rushed out of the room. There was only one talent cultivator in the entire capital city—Bai Xue. Without hesitation, Lu Yin sprinted toward the ruined steel city walls of the capital. Bai Xue was there.

In midair, Lu Yin's body trembled. Five dice rolls had drained his spirit to the limit, forcing him to rest. Bai Xue was still about a hundred meters away.

With only one second left, Lu Yin pressed his hand heavily on Bai Xue's shoulder and exhaled deeply.

On the city wall ruins, Granny, Gless, Bararo, and Zhoushan stared dumbfounded at the scene, wondering what was going on.

Bai Xue was also stunned and looked at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin kept his hand on Bai Xue's shoulder but, seeing the strange gazes around him, quickly withdrew his hand. "Sorry, I got the wrong person," he said and immediately left.

Silence fell over the ruins as everyone hadn't yet reacted.

Granny was speechless. That excuse was terrible. And why did that bastard suddenly reach out? Trying to take advantage? In broad daylight? Without any warning? Crazy!

Others thought the same, especially Gless, who whispered, "Did Lu Yin just try to confess? Did we interrupt him?"

Bararo nodded seriously, "Probably."

Bai Xue's face flushed red. Her stunning beauty even captivated Granny—a woman whose beauty overshadowed the stars.

Inside the capital, Lu Yin slammed the door of his residence and collapsed into sleep. He had reached his limit.

Shortly after Lu Yin fell asleep, rumors began spreading throughout the capital.

"Did you hear? The Hidden Saint confessed to Luo Sheng and got rejected. He got drunk to the point of being wasted and hasn't dared to show up since."

"No way. I heard he didn't even dare confess. He was completely enchanted by Luo Sheng and ran away without saying a word."

"You're all wrong! My cousin's uncle's brother's neighbor saw Hidden Saint kiss Luo Sheng and even propose. They already bought the wedding ring!"

"Get out of here, where would you buy a wedding ring at a time like this?"

...

That afternoon, Zhang Dingtian found Bai Xue. "I heard—"

"Not true. He got the wrong person," Bai Xue interrupted sharply. She obviously knew what Zhang Dingtian was going to say.

Zhang Dingtian was stunned for a moment. "That's good," he said and left.
