Two of the guards, among those escorting their young mistress forcefully, hurried toward Selina. Selina's grip on her luggage handle tightened as she quietly watched them approach with a threatening presence. Yet she stood straight, her cold gaze curious.
"Miss, come with us," one of the guards said.
"I can't come with you without knowing the reason," she declined, glancing between them. Annabelle nodded firmly, adjusting her stance protectively beside Selina.
"Mrs Everett requested your presence at L'Oeah studio. I don't know the reason. Why not join us and find out?" the second asserted.
"She said L'Oeah Studio is safe," the first added.
Selina's expression hardened, uncertain what her stepmother wanted.
The thought of the Everetts discovering she had chosen a career path that could draw a spotlight on her sent her pulse skipping. What if she went back with them and they tried to coerce her into staying?
The meeting was not a good sign.
