Jin's pov
Damn, it's only been one day, and so much has already happened in my life. Did I make a mistake choosing this school? Maybe not, since I can handle it anyway. But still, everything feels so chaotic. Haahhh... I let out a deep sigh, trying to shake off the thoughts running through my head.
"That was a long sigh," my sister's voice cut through my thoughts. Here we go again.
"And so?" I replied, not really in the mood to deal with her teasing.
"What do you mean 'and so'?! You're such a jerk!" she snapped, her voice louder than necessary... As usual...
I winced. "You're the one making all the noise, sis. Can you be quiet for at least a minute? Please?" I shot back, rubbing my temple. Seriously, can she even stay quiet for a second? Maybe I should tie her up with Ryu and see what happens.
"You're an idiot. Anyway, how was your first day?" she asked, tilting her head as if she actually cared.
"Disaster." Whoops... I... Probably shouldn't have said that.
"Disaster? Okay wise guy. What did you do this time?" she demanded, immediately assuming I was at fault.
Why does she always think I did something dumb? Can't it just be bad luck for once?
"Nothing... nothing big," I muttered, hoping she'd drop it.
"Yeah, right. Nothing, huh?" she narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"It really was nothing!" I insisted, trying to sound convincing.
"Oh? Then why are you getting mad?" she smirked, clearly enjoying herself.
Tss. I just rolled my eyes and refused to entertain her any longer.
"Don't 'Tss' me, Jin, or I swear I'll shut you up myself. Let's see you 'Tss' after that!" she threatened, cracking her knuckles. Brutal!
I scoffed. "Just go to bed already, sis. You're too noisy."
"Fine, fine, you little punk. Goodnight, baby brother. Love you." She leaned in and kissed me on the cheek before skipping off to her room. At least she's still sweet despite everything.
The moment she left, silence filled the room, and peace finally returned.
Time to sleep.
Just as I was about to drift off, my phone rang.
"What?!" I answered, already annoyed.
"Whoa, chill, bro. High blood pressure much?" Of course, it had to be Ryu.
"What do you want?"
"Uh, money, a hot girl, a new car, a mansion—"
"That's not what I meant, idiot." I groaned. Does he even use his brain?
"Oh, my bad." This fucking idiot...
"Just tell me why you called. I was about to sleep."
"Just reminding you that we have a lot to do tomorrow, so be ready. Damn, you're always in a bad mood."
"Yeah, yeah, got it. Bye.
"Finally, inner peace! Time to sleep.
*The Next Day*
"Jin, you're so slow. We've been waiting forever,"
Ryu complained the next morning.
"Says the guy who takes forever himself." Kev muttered to himself.
"Can we start now?" I turned to Kev, who looked unusually serious today. What's up with him?
"Who are we getting first, Kev?" Ryu asked.
"Yuzu."
"Ah, Ryu's girl—Ouch! What the hell?" I yelped as Ryu smacked me in the head.
"Idiot! What girl? You're insane."
"Oh, please, she'll be your girlfriend in no time," I teased with a smirk.
"Shut up, Jin."I shrugged, satisfied that I'd managed to annoy him.
"Alright, let's start while we still have the whole week free from classes," Kev said.
Wait, no classes? What kind of school does that?
"Why is there no class, Kev?"
"How should I know? It's not like I'm the principal."
Tss. Solid answer.
"Let's go," Ryu motioned for us to follow him. We ended up behind a building.
"What are we doing here?" I asked, confused.
"She usually passes by here alone," Kev replied.A few minutes later, a girl walked by, and Kev immediately stepped in front of her. This must be her.
"Uh, hi, Claine."
"Hi, Kev!"She's really pretty. What's Ryu's problem with her?
"We wanted to talk to you about something," Ryu finally spoke.
"Kyaaah! What is it, Ryu, my handsome baby?" she squealed, her eyes sparkling with admiration.
She's really obsessed with him, huh? How surprising.
I decided to step back and let Kev and Ryu handle this. She looked easy enough to convince.
"You've heard about what happened, right?" Ryu asked.
"You mean the Phantom Six thing? Yeah... What the hell did you guys do? You might get yourself killed," she pouted, crossing her arms.
Ah, now I get it. Ryu doesn't like her because she's too childish.
"Don't worry about me. I can take care of myself. Anyway, I wanted to ask if you'd join us. We can't handle this alone."
"Sure, as long as you date me and become my boyfriend," she beamed. Ryu looked like he wanted to die.
Kev struggled to hold in his laughter, while I grinned at the whole situation.
"I guess I don't have a choice, so fine, we're together now," Ryu sighed in resignation.
Whoa. Did that really just happen?
"Yay! Oh, by the way, you said there were three of you, right? Where's the other one?" she asked Ryu.
"Over there." He pointed at me, and I had no choice but to wave awkwardly.
"Oh... Baby, let's break up. I'll take him instead."
What in the actualy fuck!?
Kev lost it, bursting into laughter. Meanwhile, I stood there, dumbfounded.
"Alright, as you wish," Ryu smirked. He's enjoying this way too much.
"Hi! I'm Claine! And starting today... you're mine!" she declared before lunging to hug me.
"W-w-wait—"Before she could, a voice behind us interrupted.
"I don't think so, Claine... because he's mine."
That voice... it sounds familiar.
I turned arounda and...
Wait-Whaaaa?
"Sister Briana?!"Yeah, it's Briana. But what the hell did she just say? Me? Hers?
And who's that other girl with her?
"Kev, Ryu, can I borrow your friend for a moment?"
"Sure."
The moment they agreed, Briana grabbed my arm and dragged me to a secluded area, shoving me against a wall.
"I don't know what you're up to or what you're planning, but I hate it when people drag the ones I care about into things. though it seems like I don't have much choice but to join you guys now, but you'd better know what you're doing. And if anything happens to them... I will kill you." She left me standing there, speechless.
I swallowed hard. She's terrifying. "What are you still standing there for? Let's go. You need to strengthen your team."
As we regroup, Claine is pouting, clearly annoyed. "Tch. You got to him first, huh? What a shame. Guess I'll just stick with baby Ryu, then."
"Sounds like you're disappointed."
"Not really, you're alright."
"Just 'alright'? You're lucky to have me as your boyfriend."
"Fine, fine. I'm lucky. Happy now?"
"Very."
Their banter is almost entertaining enough to make me forget the mess I'm in. Almost.
Then, Claine speaks up, her voice teasingly. "By the way, you're the only one without a partner, Big Sis. What about Kev?"
"Not interested," Kailey replies flatly.
Kev immediately turns to her, scandalized. "What?! Am I really that ugly in your eyes, Yuzu?"
She doesn't even hesitate. "No, I'm just not interested in you."
Ouch. That was brutal.
Ryu bursts out laughing. "Damn, that was cold."
Kev glares at him. "Shut the hell up before I punch you."
Ryu grins. "Didn't say anything."
I shake my head, chuckling under my breath before refocusing on the real problem. "Alright, so who's next? We're six now. We should be able to handle them."
Kev's expression turns serious. "Are you an idiot? Do you even know how many people Phantom Six has under them? They have over seventy fighters."
What the actual fuck?
"Seventy?"
"Yes, dumbass."
"Tch. That's a lot..."
Briana crosses her arms. "Forget them for now. Go after Lim first. He already has a grudge against Phantom Six. He'll be an asset."
Kev nods. "Agreed. Let's move before Phantom Six finds us first."
As we start moving, Briana suddenly steps beside me and lightly taps my arm.
"I'm saying this one last time. If something happens to those two because of this, I'll be the one to end you."
I exhale sharply. "I remember."
"Good. See? We can get along just fine if you listen."
Then she does something unexpected—she smiles.
And for a second, I completely freeze.
D-did she just... smile at me?
That... That is the prettiest smile I've ever seen in my ent
