As expected, master spent another week sending us repeating the third and the fourth floor.
They refused to make us climb to the fifth floor yet.
This long delay only made us much more certain that the fifth floor was going to be a special trial.
At the moment, the third and fourth floor trials could barely give us enough experience points to level up. We practically had stop levelling up now and even stopped gaining experience points.
Currently, Jonah and Shanny had reached level 7. Gerson on level 6. And Cecily on level 5. That was the highest they could achieve before they stopped gaining experience.
As for me…
[Serafina Magda Zeref (★★★★) Lv.3 (Exp 17/30)]
[Class: Mage]
[Strength: 15]
[Intelligence: 74]
[Stamina: 14]
[Agility: 12]
[Skills: Telekinesis Lv.6, Intermediate Enchantment Lv.4, Intermediate Fire Magic Lv.6, Hands that Twist Space and Time Lv.2, Intermediate Research Lv.2, Intermediate Alchemy Lv.3, Mana Transfer Lv.3]
After levelling up once after we cleared the fourth floor for the first time, I stopped gaining experience in the middle of levelling up to level 4.
My intelligence increased by six and stamina by one because of the levelling up.
I also managed to increase my fire magic skill by one level to level 6 after cutting down time to cast my Third Circle spell.
Still, compared to the others, my growth was significantly slower.
Since we could not level up anymore, for the past week we had been increasing our training regimen, trying to improve our skill level.
Under my instruction, Jonah, Shanny, Cecily, and Gerson each obtained Pain Resistance skill.
We also made Gerson learned Fire Resistance.
Unfortunately, we did not get as much luck with our weapon skill.
Jonah's Spearsmanship was still at level 4. So was Shanny's Sword-Shield Technique.
Gerson was still at level 3.
Cecily, though, did manage to increase her Basic Archery skill to level 4 and her Basic Dagger skill to level 2.
Jonah also managed to improve his Spear-throwing skill to level 2 as well.
I also began practicing to cast Fourth Circle magic.
Admittedly I had trouble casting it in a short amount of time like the Second Circle and Third Circle spells.
The best I could do at the moment was casting it within 30 seconds.
At any rate, all of us in Party 1 trained hard to improve ourselves even though we could overwhelm the third and fourth floor easily.
That was how our week went by since our meeting in the dining hall.
Right now we were all wondering when master would finally send us to the fifth floor. Whether there would be a sign telling us we would go to the fifth and not the fourth or the third.
Our anxiety was soon quelled when master stopped sending us to the trials for an entire week.
Although master would always be watching us every day, they would not make us retry the third and fourth floor.
Master only let us be to train ourselves.
They did not even send the other makeshift parties in for the lower floors.
It was a complete halt in regards of climbing the tower.
And then on the seventh day, the fairy appeared in the square.
[Larson, come to the square!]
Instead a party of five people, the fairy only called one person.
We knew it would not be for synthesis since she would need to call at least two people for it.
[Open the rift of space and time!]
The fairy flew over the large stone gate by the square and turned it glowing.
It was now apparent that master was sending that man to a trial.
Incidentally, Larson was someone who began to slack off once master stopped sending us to climb the tower.
Sleeping in at the lodging or lazing at the side of the training ground while the rest of us trained till sweat drenched our bodies and blood dripped from our grips.
In the past, master would probably send that kind of guy to synthesis. But apparently master had another idea in mind to worthless people.
"What is happening? Why are you calling for me?"
Larson asked the fairy.
[What else? Master wants you to fight. So get in there and get the job done.]
"What?! Just me?!"
[Yeah, just you. Now hurry up! I have other things to do.]
Larson had understood it was no use disobeying master.
He quickly ran to the storage and geared up for battle.
"Where am I going this time?"
Larson asked the fairy.
[Ugh, you ask a lot of question. Just go in there and find out yourself!]
The fairy said while kicking him into the rift.
We all gathered by the square, curious of this peculiar summon for battle.
"Which floor do you think he's going?"
Jonah asked.
All Party 1 was huddling up together. Trudy was amongst us as well.
"I've fought with Larson while I was switched around the makeshift parties. He could handle the second and the third floor just fine. Fourth if he really focus and put in the effort."
Trudy said.
I did not find it hard to believe.
Even if Larson's skill with the sword was far less than proper, his improved strength gained from levelling up and the well-made enchanted weapons and armors Gerrits and I prepared would allow him fight against multiple monsters and easily survive.
"But why would master send him alone to a trial? Does master want him to improve?"
Shanny asked.
"Frankly speaking there are other fighters better than him in the makeshift parties that deserves master's attention if that's the case."
Gerson said.
I sighed upon their discussion and interrupted them.
"Stop saying useless things. We know where master is sending that man."
"We do?"
Cecily replied with a frown.
"Larson is someone not strong enough to be in Party 1 but strong enough to survive the fourth floor and below. Given our circumstances, there is only one floor where Larson will be useful as a one-man party."
Jonah and Shanny quickly shared a glance. They understood what I was talking about.
It was then that the fairy reappeared in the square looking all upset.
[Bah! Died in a few minutes. What a trash! The rest of you better not waste my time and work hard to win!]
Murmurs filled the square. We immediately knew Larson had died in the trial he was sent to.
The people there knew how capable Larson in handling the fourth floor and below.
Knowing he died not long after he went to the trial provided us with one big clue about which floor he went.
The fifth floor.
