Chapter 17 - Delivering themselves to him

Someone was watching him. It was a sharp, malicious gaze, and it stuck to his back like a dirty gum. His spiritual energy spread like tendrils around him, and yet he could not locate the person.

Gu Yuze pursed his lips, but he was not surprised. It made him make up his mind even faster; he needed to leave this Lingyuan Sect as fast as possible.

With so many disciples in this sect, it would not be easy to draw out this person, but if he could leave, then he could kindly and gently interrogate the person and find out more information. The only thing was that playing a chess game unwillingly is playing the game blind.

He acted like he could not feel the gaze and continued walking down, determined not to let that sticky gaze ruin his good mood. The dew in his sea of cultivation was at least half a glass of water, which was more than he had hoped.

His senses had improved drastically. He felt so light and refreshed. Gu Yuze had to be honest; since he came to this damned timeline, this was the first time he was feeling like himself.

It was as if he could finally breathe.

His pace increased, his movement so fast that he soon stopped feeling the gaze. Gu Yuze arrived at his dormitory in less than a third of the time that he took to go to the Training Pagoda ten days earlier. He looked longingly at the bed but still went to freshen up first. As the cold water cascaded down his back, Gu Yuze let out a forlorn sigh.

Even though the training pagoda had not kicked him out during his cultivation, it had not been for free. Gu Yuze had paid for three days and had stayed for ten days; he was owing the Pagoda 21 points.

"Nope. Not now." Gu Yuze pointedly tried his best not to think about the debt and the missed chores and lectures. He had undergone something so disastrous, and yet he had survived. He deserves an hour of doom scrolling on his phone and lying on his bed, but the more he tried not to think about it, the more the thought settled in his mind.

He wiped the water from his face and dried his body with the towel before hanging it back.

Gu Yuze made his way to the mirror. He was taller than he had been ten days ago. Maybe an inch or two; it was not very noticeable, but it still added to Gu Yuze's endless worries. Was this body molding to accommodate his soul?

It was not possible, was it? It was not like he could consult the department of transmigration or call customer care for support.

Forget amnesia, he could speak until his throat was hoarse, and yet he would not be able to talk himself out of that particular situation.

He was probably overthinking. It could be a side effect of his cultivation; the rejuvenation of the Xuanshi should have healed some underlying physical issues of this body.

That answer was more probable.

He glared at the image. "Now, I am fretting about like a mother."

The sentence made him feel more upset. What exactly did he know about mothers to know if they fret or not?

The person who stared back at him was still pale, and a dark, gloomy aura clung tightly between his eyebrows; however, those ashen and lifeless grey eyes that he had first seen in the mirror were bright, almost blinding, like there was a small star within.

"Did you do this to me?" He questioned, even though he knew there would be no answer. "Just know, I really hate people messing with me."

Gu Yuze left the bathroom, opening the wardrobe to find a spare robe. He wore it and tied the ugly brown sash around his waist.

He jumped on the bed and took out his phone. His two favorite social media had not yet been created, but he still had Ghosts.

He rushed to the Lingyuan Sect page and searched his name. What were they saying about him now?

The first post was very, very recent. It was posted three minutes ago.

'You guys should stop spreading false rumors. How could Gu Yuze be dead? I just saw him enter his dorm room right now.'

Three minutes ago, there were already twenty-two comments.

"You did not even go to exorcise the ghost. What kind of Taoist priest are you, Op?"

"What ghost? I have been saying it all week. Gu Yuze just went to the Training Pagoda to hide. What dispersing cultivation? It is Gu Yuze we are talking about."

The comments became more wild and more vicious, and Gu Yuxze read all of them silently.

He rolled over to type, "I am alive and well. Everyone, thank you very much for all your concern."

With that, he logged out of the page and turned his notifications on. After he posted it, Gu Yuze felt a little regretful; he had planned to use the Lingyuan Server, but now everyone would know the ID belonged to Gu Yuze.

He continued to scroll on the Ghosts app, having an overview of the cultivation world they were in. The Wusheng Disaster had not happened, and the Yaos had not yet attacked the capital. The world is quite peaceful, as peaceful as the Taoist world could be.

He lazily scrolled to videos of free Taoist techniques.

Even in the future, there were videos of free Taoist techniques performed by people who were said to have mastered the technique in hopes that other Taoists would gain inspiration. He had been contacted several times, but Gu Yuze was not the kind to care about the so-called younger generation hoping for inspiration.

Gu Yuze suddenly sat up. The image was of someone who was supposed to be in the Lingyuan Server. Long black hair tied in a low ponytail with a white ribbon, cold amethyst eyes, Han Ji was holding a sword.

Even through the video, Gu Yuze could feel that the energy within this person was compressed to the utmost. The sword suddenly moved. It moved incomparably slowly and, quite in reality, that was just a misconception, as the sword had reached an incredibly great speed.

Swish! In less than a millisecond, the sword shot like a meteor, and the training dummy over a meter away was split equally into two.

Gu Yuze pursed his lips; he should have accepted to do the training video when the Ghost app marketing team had contacted him.

Wasn't Lingyuan a strict Taoist sect? What was its senior disciple doing showing free technique on the Ghosts app? He rolled his eyes and then played it again.

There was a sudden knock on his door, and Gu Yuze blinked. He had watched the video over fifteen times.

He had to admit it was beautiful swordsmanship. There was nobody who loved swords who would not watch it twice.

Recalling the way the man lifted him up and paraded him to the Punishment Hall, Gu Yuze felt a familiar anger in his chest.

So what if it was beautiful swordsmanship? The person was still very annoying and was still on Gu Yuze's list.

The knocking on the door got even louder as the person banged on the door, "Gu Yuze. I know you are in there. Open this door now."

Gu Yuze rolled out of the bed and went to open the door. He recognized the girl. She had been the one banging on his door the day he transmigrated to this world, but Gu Yuze could not recognize the second person next to her.

The man was taller than him and a little burly. He wore the same brown sash around his waist; he looked down at Gu Yuze.

"Gu Yuze, you piece of sh*t, do you know the kind of trouble that I am in because of you? Yi Hai said that he would report me. Gu Yuze, are you crazy?"

Yi Hai? Recognition flashed in Gu Yuze's eyes as he looked at the man in front of him. The only person who had sent Gu Yuze messages. Wang Ming.

"Wang Ming. You are the one who is paying me one hundred dollars to do your chore every week and take my points. You look exactly like I imagined." This piece of shit had not only severely underpaid Gu Yuze the market price of points, but he had also forced Gu Yuze to do the girl's chores as well. Gu Yuze did not know why this little ghost king did not put an end to that deal, but then he recalled the lover he was sending money to. Gu Yuze could feel a headache coming.

The man exchanged looks with the woman, and then he turned back to Gu Yuze. "Let's not argue about this. We are friends. Just go and explain yourself to Yi Hai, and I can let this go."

"Who is your friend?"

The man sneered, "You really went crazy in the Shaodi Cave, didn't you? You seem to have forgotten our little talk." He moved into the room, boxing Gu Yuze in, and the girl followed in. That look of condescension and disgust still graced her features.

Gu Yuze heard the door lock, and then the girl proceeded to burn a soundproofing talisman.

He raised an eyebrow and then smiled. "The two of you, you came to me by yourselves?"
