ETHAN'S POV
Port Elara.
The name echoed in my mind like a countdown. I had less than two hours to get there, and the storm showed no sign of letting up.
The boy disappeared into the night the moment I turned to grab my coat. I didn't blame him. Whatever Ava had paid him, it wasn't enough to keep him in the house of ghosts and secrets.
I held onto the flash drive as if it were my only lifeline. Because maybe it was.
The engine of my car roared back to life, the wheels spinning in mud as I tore out of the driveway and back onto the winding road.
Port Elara was almost 40 miles away, an abandoned cargo dock that hadn't seen legal use in years. It was the kind of place people used when they wanted to disappear…, or deliver something without questions.
I glanced at the flash drive on the passenger seat.
Should I wait to see what was on it?
Or use every second I had to get to Ava?
I made the choice I already knew I would.
I plugged it into the dashboard screen and hit play.
