Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Asher Believes Her

Camille frowned, before shaking her head.

"It doesn't belong to me," she answered truthfully.

"It was found beside you, I have every right to think it belongs to you," Kelvin said, gesturing for her to stand to her feet, while directing the remaining supervisors to confiscate her papers.

Camille turned and met Cleo's smug smile. Her lips twitched in disbelief. Only one person would dare pull this off, and she was wearing that sickening smile now.

"Follow me young lady, you have some explaining to do," Kelvin stated, motioning for her to move.

"I told you that it doesn't belong to me, what part of that do you not understand?" Camille was not ready to allow being framed to ruin her chances of writing the exams.

If it meant being rude to the supervisors, she didn't care. She would rather do so and clear her name, instead of keeping quiet and being wronged.

The students gasped as they all turned to look at her, surprised by her courage.

But after being glared at by the supervisors, they returned to their work, but they were curious about what would happen to Camille.

Kelvin stared at Camille who had a defiant look on her face, and he chuckled.

"If you keep disrupting the peace of the examination, I'll be forced to cancel your exams, and not give you a chance to clear your name. I'm sure you are aware of what that means," Kelvin asked with a sadistic smile, indirectly threatening her.

Camille pursed her lips, before leaving her seat.

"I knew you would make the right decision," Kelvin whispered, motioning for her to follow him.

"Don't get cocky, I will clear my name, and I will finish this exam no matter what," Camille vowed with a determined voice, and it sounded like a bluff to Kelvin ago scoffed in response.

"I'd love to see you try," Kelvin replied as they walked out of the hall.

They made their way into the office, and Kelvin took his seat while he left Camille to stand. Not that she minded it though.

"Tell me, what was this paper doing on the floor right next to you?" After a few moments of silence, and eye contact, Kelvin questioned her.

"I'll stand with my previous answer, I do not know how that got there, it does not belong to me," Camille replied with a confident look on her face.

"Still sticking to this story, even after seeing the evidence?" Kelvin asked with his voice low, staring straight into her eyes.

Camille was confident that the papers didn't belong to her. After all, she had studied hard for the exam, there was no way she would be bringing in any form of cheats into the hall.

"I am very sure sir, I prepared well for this exam, there is no way I would bring in such a thing," she replied, standing by her words.

Kelvin chuckled slowly, before opening the paper, showing it to her, and asking ing, "isn't this your handwriting?"

Camille frowned as she saw the paper. Snatching it from Kelvin's hand, she desperately looked at the paper, and all the color drained off her face, with her hands trembling slightly.

"I'm sure your memory is back now," Kelvin mocked.

Camille looked at the paper, and she was confused as to how it got to the hall. She recognized the paper, it was what she used to study the previous night.

She wrote all her summaries there, but now it isn't in her room. There was only one person who could do this.

Recalling the repeated good luck Cleo wished her this morning, she finally understood what she meant with that.

Clenching her hands around the paper, she took a deep breath before saying, "this paper truly belongs to me, but I didn't bring this to the hall. I left it in my bedroom after studying last night, I don't know how it made its way here."

"And do you think I'd believe you? Did this paper grow wings and fly here? Please, look for a better excuse," Kelvin sneered with his hands folded.

Taking a deep breath, Camille requested, "my brother is outside waiting for me, can I see him?"

Kelvin looked at the pleading look in her eyes, and he nodded, giving in to her request.

"I'll be needing your phone," Camille said.

Kelvin gave her a glance, before unlocking his phone and handing it over to her.

Sighing, Camille inputted Asher's personal phone number into the phone, before dialing it. It was a miracle that she still remembered the number.

The phone rang for a while, before it was picked up.

"Who is this?" Asher's careful voice sounded from the other line, while he wondered who was bold to call him using his personal line.

"It is me, brother," Camille hesitated for a while before she addressed him as brother.

She was already regretting calling him after he picked the call, as she had called him due to impulse. Knowing the type of brother she had, there was no doubt that he could dismiss her claims.

She truly hoped that he had actually changed as he was the only one who could clear her name now.

"Camille, why did you call, and with a different number? Are you done with the exams?" Asher repeatedly asked, worry could be heard in his voice.

"I have been framed," Camille admitted.

Asher felt like a fuse had detonated in his brain, and his eyes turned red.

"Where are you?" He asked, enunciating each word.

A few minutes later, Asher was led into the office, and the first person he saw was Camille who stood to the side like a convicted criminal.

"It is courtesy to give her a seat, even if she is a suspect," these were his first words as he made eye contact with Kelvin who surprisingly recognised him.

Kelvin turned to look at Camille who had a blank look on her face, and he chuckled, "who would have thought that your brother is Asher Leroy?"

"We like to keep our sister away from the public eye so she wouldn't be taken advantage of," Asher replied carelessly, before taking a seat. He didn't forget to pull Camille to sit beside him.

"Cam, tell me everything, big brother is here now, and I'll make this right," Asher said, his voice doting as he looked at Camille.

Camille stared into his eyes, and her heart shook. She was not expecting this reaction from him. She had thought he would flip out, blame her, but never in her wildest dreams would she have thought that he would want to stand up for her.

For a split second, she almost didn't recognize him, not because of how he looked, but because of the warmth in his voice. It had been so long since anyone had spoken to her like she mattered. Especially him.

He wanted to hear her own side of the story. Blinking back the tears which were about to drop, she explained to him all that happened.

Asher sighed, before saying, "I'm sure Cleo is behind this. Do you have any way to clear your name?"

Camille breathed out, and she nodded, "I planted cameras in my room yesterday, it should capture every movement done between yesterday and today."
