As Yue said that, Bee's face became pale, because it was true.
He had been searching in Yue's bedchamber for money, or to find any valuable things, because he thought the Emperor must have given Yue some gifts too. But unfortunately, he couldn't find anything.
And he even got caught red-handed. Bee didn't expect Yue would say this to their father. Because since childhood, Yue never told anything.
Even when Bee tried to kill Yue, he still didn't tell their father what Bee did.
Because he knew their father favored Bee. But who knows—if he had told the truth, maybe something would have changed.
Their father's expression changed suddenly. There was a gentleness on his face, but as he listened, his face started to turn serious, and he glanced at Bee.
And this was the first time Bee had seen his father's serious expression. Because whenever he looked at him, he always smiled with a gentle face.
But this time there was no smile, only seriousness—a cold face. Which was very unusual.
"Bee, did you really try to steal money from your own brother?"
"N-No, Father, he is lying… why would I do that… He is just making things up on his own."
His father believed him because he thought Bee couldn't do something like this. That's why he glanced at Yue again and started to glare at him.
"What kind of brother are you? You are accusing your own brother of stealing. What if someone else hears this?" his father said.
Yue gave a side-eye to Bee, then glanced at his father again.
And he understood that his father was kind of a fool who only believed in his brother.
"Then, Bee, can you tell me what you were doing in my room? Your servant was searching my wardrobe where I keep the money. And after you checked, there was no money. Can you... explain that?"
"What? Me and my servant weren't searching anything, and there was no money in your wardrobe either!"
His father glanced at Bee as he said that.
"If you didn't search his room, then how do you know there was no money in his wardrobe?"
Bee realized that his tongue had slipped and he had accidentally told the truth, which his father caught.
His father didn't like it when someone lied in front of him. Since childhood, Bee had been playing the victim card.
He used to bully Yue too, and later, in front of their father, he would play the victim, saying Yue was the one bullying him.
Yue had been too scared to tell the truth. So all these years, their father believed Yue was some kind of bully who didn't treat his brother well.
That's why he was giving special treatment to Bee—because he thought Bee was the victim.
"How dare you do this?" his father shouted.
"Father, isn't that necklace on Bee's neck the one Mom gave to me?"
[ "Killed." ]
When Yue said that, his father noticed the ocean gem necklace around Bee's neck.
He quickly grabbed it and remembered it was the necklace from his wife—Yue's mother.
She had worn it since she was a child, and after Yue was born, she gave it to him.
But the main question was: what was it doing on Bee's neck? His father still remembered, a few years ago, before Yue got married—
Bee had taken a liking to that necklace and asked for it, but his father denied him because it belonged to Yue's mother and she had left it for him. So how could he give it to Bee?
After all, Bee's mother didn't give anything to Yue. That's why his father didn't give that necklace to Bee either.
"Why do you have this necklace? Didn't I tell you it's Yue's? His mother gave it to him."
Bee became panicked upon hearing that.
"No, Father! Yue gave me this necklace himself!"
Yue scoffed. "Bee, you hit me badly back then and then snatched that necklace from me—so why are you lying and saying I gave it to you?"
[ "Double killed." ]
"What? You hit your brother? But you always told me it was Yue who bullied you… I guess you were making a fool out of me all these years."
Yue stood up from the sofa, watching their drama.
"I'm tired, so I'm leaving."
His father nodded, and Yue left. As he stepped outside, he saw Han on his knees in the yard.
The air was so cold it could freeze anyone, yet that kid was still sitting on his knees.
Yue rushed to Han and glanced around first to see why he was on his knees.
"What happened, kiddo? Why are you on your knees? Did something happen?"
"The Emperor asked me if I could sit on my knees for the whole night out here, then he wouldn't bother you anymore."
"Huh?" Yue made a weird face.
"Kiddo, are you out of your mind? You'd die if you sat here the whole night. Come on, get up right now."
"No, I won't. I'll sit here and show the Emperor, so that he won't bother you anymore and you'll spend more time with me."
Yue glanced around to see if anyone was watching, and suddenly smacked Han on the head. Han's eyes teared up.
"Why did you hit me?"
"Idiot, if you die tonight, then how will you spend time with me? In this deal, only the Emperor is getting the benefit, don't you think?"
Han also realized—yes, if something happened to him tonight, he wouldn't be able to spend more time with Yue.
And that would benefit the Emperor, because the Emperor would have Yue all to himself.
That's why Han quickly got up from his knees and stood up, touching his head with his tiny hand.
"But why did you hit me? It's hurting."
Seeing tears in Han's eyes, Yue squatted down and patted his head.
"I'm sorry for hitting you. I just wanted you to give up on this idea of doing something like this."
