Chapter 55 - CHAPTER 55:POWER PLAYS

The late afternoon sun cast a golden hue over the city, its rays filtering through the expansive windows of the conference room. Nathan sat at the head of the table, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp, reflecting the weight of the conversation he was about to have.

Across from him sat Mr. Reeves, a seasoned board member known for his meticulous nature and unwavering loyalty to the company's legacy.

"Mr. Reeves," Nathan began, his voice steady, "I appreciate you taking the time to meet with me privately. I believe the future of our company hinges on the decisions we make in the coming weeks."

Mr. Reeves adjusted his glasses, his gaze fixed on Nathan. "I'm always open to discussions that benefit the company. What do you have in mind?"

Nathan leaned forward, his fingers interlaced. "Victor's leadership has become increasingly autocratic. His decisions, while once beneficial, now seem to serve personal interests more than the company's."

Mr. Reeves nodded slowly. "I've noticed a shift. The recent projects have lacked transparency."

"Exactly," Nathan affirmed. "I propose we rally the board to initiate a vote of no confidence. With your support, we can usher in a new era of collaborative leadership."

Before Mr. Reeves could respond, the door swung open abruptly. Victor Voss entered, his presence commanding, eyes scanning the room with calculated precision.

"Am I interrupting something?" Victor's tone was casual, but the underlying tension was palpable.

Nathan stood, masking his surprise. "Victor, we were discussing potential avenues for the company's growth."

Victor's gaze narrowed. "Without the chairman's knowledge? That's unorthodox."

Mr. Reeves interjected, attempting to diffuse the situation. "It was an informal discussion,Mr Voss."

Victor stepped closer, his voice firm. "Informal or not, I expect to be informed of all deliberations. As chairman, it's my prerogative."

Nathan met his gaze, unflinching. "You won't be chairman for long."

Victor's smile was devoid of warmth. "We'll see about that. From now on, no project proceeds without my explicit approval."

Nathan's jaw tightened, but he maintained his composure. "Enjoy the power while it lasts."

Victor's eyes gleamed with challenge. "Ohh It will last forever."

Mr. Reeves, sensing the escalating tension, rose from his seat. "Perhaps it's best I take my leave. Gentlemen."

As Mr. Reeves exited, Nathan turned to Victor, his voice low and firm. "You'll regret this."

Without waiting for a response, Nathan strode out of the room, his mind racing. As he entered his car, he instructed the driver, "Take me to see Mrs Quinn."

Before the driver could respond, Nathan's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen—Luisa.

"Nathan," her voice was urgent, "I've uncovered something significant. We need to meet immediately."

Nathan hesitated, then replied, "Send me the address."

After receiving the location, he dialed Samson. "Meet me at the club Luisa mentioned. It's urgent."

At the upscale club, Luisa sat at a secluded table, a glass of wine in hand. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she added a clear, odorless liquid to Nathan's drink, stirring it gently.

"Soon, Nathan," she murmured to herself, a sly smile playing on her lips. "Very soon."
