Chapter 26 - Summoned

Hmph!

Clayton huffed arrogantly but still took his seat. Well, he couldn't deny that he was indeed curious about what this meeting was all about.

Rather than hiding in the shadows to observe like a thief, why not come out and formally join the so-called meeting?

He wanted to see what exactly this future son-in-law of his had in mind…

Clayton was now pouting like a child.

What was so important that he would keep him, his father-in-law, the mighty General Clayton in wait?... And what was up with their chair? Why was sitting in this position so comfortable?

If.. if he secretly steals a chair, no one will notice a thing, right?

Clayton relaxed in, feeling a wave of comfortability washing over them. Hey… a man could get used to this. Soon his eyes fell on the document that was placed before him.

'Eh? What are these?' Clayton's eyebrows jumped. 'Strange… I've never seen such a clear and practical way of writing before. And what were those squabbling marks in every sentence?'

It was odd to say that although it was his first time seeing them, he could understand some of their purpose and their use.

Genius!—Could his son-in-law be some untapped genius everyone underestimated?

Clayton, who wasn't so smart and scholarly, had to admit that Julius's document could make someone like him jump in amazement.

Julius raised a brow when seeing how excited Clayton became. He recognized that expression, to be similar to how everyone else reacted when seeing his writing format.

But what was it that truly amazed them? Of course it was the use of punctuation marks!

In this era, there was no such thing as semicolons, commas and so on. One could write a sentence that was half a page long but there won't be a single comma in there.

As a modern person, Julius felt his mind spin chaotically every time he read the notes and documents given to him.

How did they do it? How can they be used to such a complex method of documentation? How can someone write an entire page without a single full-stop or even a comma?

No wonder some texts are often misinterpreted.

Julius has long been training his people on how to use punctuation marks. Over the months when he was in the palace, he also taught those illiterate how to read and write. In a nutshell, his people must ALL be learned.

Seven months was the time he used in teaching them literacy…. Well, his own version of Literacy.

Now even they can't help but complain whenever they see official documents of this time. One could hear them grumbling and rambling about how terrible of a headache it gave them.

It was clear that the use of punctuation marks alone was a revolutionary feat for the scholars. It would make understanding documents and books easier.

Punctuation marks contain tonality. And sometimes, because there are no question marks in writing, how do you truly know if it's a question or not?

Honestly, it was miraculous that people in this era went through documents like that and didn't see anything wrong with it.

…

'Why has no one thought of this yet?...' Clayton's eyes popped out of his sockets so much that Julius had to fear for the old man's life.

OH MY GOD!!! Can someone die from eyeball excitement?

If Clayton knew what Julius was thinking, he would definitely hack him to death.

Bah! What do you know? Can he not be excited after realizing the importance of these strange symbols?

Clayton secretly thought of sneaking the document out and showing his majesty later. But before he could react, he felt his left eye twitch, followed by the tingling sensation from his 'Spidey-senses.'

And then—

Swish!

A familiar shadowy figure appeared behind Julius.

"WHO ARE-"

Before everyone else in the room could say a single word, Julius was now on the figure's shoulder and out the window with the shadowy figure.

"MASTER!!" Several people flew into panic, asking for guards to hurriedly stop the intruder.

"Enough!" Clayton bellowed. "Your Master is safe."

"_" Safe? Safe their ass! How can what happened here be considered a safe situation?

General Clayton, if you are blind, just say so! Didn't you see how their poor master was rough handled just now?

Zeenie and Rosh were the most worried for Julius. But after seeing how calm General Clayton was, they understood that General Clayton must have an inkling of who kidnapped their darling master just now.

So what bastard was it?... What scoundrel? Which son of a bitch dared to touch their master this way?

Clayton was speechless. Who knew such a cute girl like Zeenie would turn into Godzilla in the blink of an eye? If he said she was scraping him a little right now, would anyone believe him?

Clayton shook his head wryly. "You all calm down… Rather, you should be preparing a carriage to pick up your master."

"Eh? Pick him up from where?"

"The palace." Jumping on the window slate, Clayton also prepared to depart. "Your Master has been summoned by his father, His Majesty!"

"So the scoundrel was his majesty?"

"_"

While panic pursued back in the mansion, Julius was quite cozy in his capture's embrace.

"Yo! Black 3, is that you?"

"_"

Black 3's lips twitched.

None of the other princes, ministers, and generals could tell them apart. They were shadow guards only loyal to his Majesty, and were no doubt one of the strongest in the entire Dynasty.

So if Julius could make them out, one has to ask: how many times has he been captured, bundled up, and thrown over their shoulders this way for him to recognize what specific guard was carrying him?

In a blink of an eye, Julius found himself in the palace, where he was dropped like a bag of nuts just outside the grand hall.

Black 3 only whispered a few words before vanishing once like a burst bubble.

"6th Prince, his Majesty is waiting for you inside."

'Ouch.' Julius dusted his butt after rising to his feet. 'Do you have to throw me to the ground so hard every time? Do you think I'm made of stone here?'

Sigh… Forget it.

Adjusting his mood, he placed his hand behind his back and calmly walked along the massive hallway leading to the Grand Audience hall…And of course, a part of him smiled playfully, wondering what the many so-called righteous ministers were up to this time.

Fufufufufufufu~

They are all so cute~
