Chapter 7 - Golden Hour

Tori

She was just wearing a jacket - Ugh it was a hot as shit leather biker jacket  - when Tori walked in. A simple spikey leather jacket, leaned against her new car she had bought specifically cause Tori liked the color yellow and - Ugh this woman is too much! - and sipping at her usual coffee order with a hand in her pocket. She glanced up as she heard the click of the popstar's heels, painting her cheeks in a rose-tint as the hollywood witch smirked at her. How does she still do that? It's been over a year!

Tori tucked a lock of hair back, blushing more as she looked away while approaching her girl. She had come to pick her up to go out for dinner - a cheap excuse to go up to the mountains and do everything we shouldn't - and Tori had dressed accordingly. Some tight jean shorts, open-toe wedges with white straps and a little snake peeking out of the tip of the toes, a comfy orange camisole and a bag with some food from her mom to pretend like she meant it. She nearly dropped it as she was pulled into the car by Jade, sat rather firmly in her seat. "Buckle up." Her voice was low in Tori's ear, her arm firmly gripping her waist as she had pulled her into the passenger seat. She listened.

...

The view was half the reason they liked to sneak out this far away from home. Tori hsd forgotten what they were called, but she would always know it as their spot. Her wind whipped softly out the window as she gazed across passing trees below. They were driving along a mountain trail, above some old forest that no one cared about, watching as the sun slowly fell in the distance. It bled streaks of warm orange and reds that drew a soft sigh from thenuoung popstar, admiring how the glow of twilight turned emerald to topaz before her eyes.

Jade's left hand was firmly held onto Tori's thigh, thumb lightly brushing along the fabric of her jeans. Jade didn't like admitting it, but she was very clingy in a less visible way. She craved touch, and Tori, ever the excitedable puppy, was more than happy to adapt. She would sit with one thigh closer to Jade whenever she couldn't be on her lap, or stand right beside her at all times in public with Jade's jand rested against her. The small of her back, her hand, Tori's arm looped around hers. She just needed that contact, that feeling that her popstar wasn't going away, – the YEARNING! – and Tori simply found that all rather sweet.

A little smile draped itself across Tori's lips, gazing across the swaying trees below. It was an evergreen forest, never dulling. It made her think of how much Jade had been through, but she never lost that shine in her eyes. Tori's fingers lightly traced Jade's grasping hand, caressing the back of the palm with just her index while the rest held it by the wrist. She didn't look. She didn't have to.

She could feel the smile on Jade's face from how she lightly squeezed. The popstar let out a little sigh, leaning forward and turning on the radio as she busily looked for music to fit the atmosphere. She heard a sigh. Jade probably was shaking her head. Good. She often did these extra little dramatic things. It made me happy. Isn't that enough?

A smile formed as she found the stayion, twisting the knob just as the slow tune of began to pump through the speakers. Tori had been ready to sing when Jade's voice started. "It was just two lovers.." Singing lightly as her eyes met Tori's startled, blushing expression with a smile. It was such a soft smile for her face. "Sittin in a car, listenin ta heaaarts, fallon for each otha." Her hand squeezed gently. "Pink n orange skies, feelin super childish, No donald glover." She smiled as they drove just a little faster, the brunette blushing as she listened.

"Missed you for another. Like, got no good excuse, don't know what to tell you, but now I'm all alone with the loooooove of my liiiiifeee," As her hand lightly cupped Tori's cheek, "She's got glitter for skinnn, my radiant beam innthe niiight... I don't need a light, to, see, you... Shiiiiiiiiineeeee!" She belted out proudly even the wind unable to silence her.

"It's our goldeeen hourrr.."

Tori mouthed a blushing, "Oh... J-Jade..."

"You sloow down tiiiiiimeeee, innn our goooldennn hourrrr...." Tori felt her fave was aflame as she thought Jade would stop, but she didn't. Her hand ligjtly brushed its thumb along Tori's cheeks, never looking from the road, yet never unaware of her popstar's awing gaze.

"We were just two lovers... feet up on the dash, drivin nowhere fast, burnin thriugh our summer." She smirked, eyes aglow with a glint of twilight sun as she matched the music flow, yet changed the words to fit them. Tori hadn't seen her due it this quick before. "Radio on blast, make this moment last, cause you got solar power." Tori giggled, looking away for a moment as she caught a snicker in Jade's voice as her hand fell in a loop around Tori's waist. She pulled her closer, nearly scooping her onto the hollywood witch's lap as the popstar gasped, giggling soon after as she smiled up at her girl.

"So cheesy.." Tori mumbled with the widest grin of her life.

"Minutes feel like hours..." A kiss on her temple as Tori let out a low sigh, Jade's voice softer and just for her. "She thought me the baddest, can you just imagine fallin like I diiiiid." She squeezed Tori in a little closer as the sun began to cast its last few golden hues.

"For the love... of my life..." Her voice a gentle whisper as her thumb caressed her popstar's side. "She's got glitter for skin... My radiant beam in the night... I don't need a light to.. see.. you..."

Tori softly whispered as she rested her head in the crook of Jade's neck. "Shiiiine..." They sung together, soft and warm and only for each other as the sun set in behind them. "Its our goldeeen hourrr..."
