Xavier and Angel left the Nexus Tower in the new hovercar, the doors sliding down as the engine hummed low beneath the chassis. The car lifted off the parking platform and surged forward over the skyline. Angel sat with her legs folded on the seat, watching the city rush past while scrolling through several holographic screens floating over her lap.
They crossed districts fast. Roads below were cramped with traffic, but the hovercar glided above it all, weaving through cleared aerial lanes as though the city belonged to it.
Angel tilted her head toward the horizon. "That's where the ceremony is."
