**Chapter 28 - Arthur.**
Mathis is abruptly woken up by an emergency quest which causes a loud alarm.
[Emergency quest - defeat the Wrath and Envy of humanity.
Requirement: kill the no. 1
Difficulty: immeasurable.
Penalty for failure: death of all lifeforms.
Rewards: 1 skill of your choice.]
"Can't.. we catch a break?" Mathis says, his brain barely having time to register what was happening--as a massive explosion goes off outside.
As Mathis rushed out his tent, he saw--Arthur, the woman, Mia, selvyn and Theeven fighting the No. 1 whom was a tall man with 4 arms, he wore a white shirt and black pants.
Mathis noticed both the woman and Arthur struggling to keep up, so Mathis unsheathed his true holy sword and joined the battle.
Blades clashed, sparks flew, blood splattered and flesh flew.
[The lonely yet devoted sword lvl. 1 has been activated!]
[Independence lvl. 1 has been activated!]
[Wyvern switch has been activated!]
Mia turned into a wyvern and tried to attack the no.1 who was still holding his own in a 1 against 5 like it was nothing.
Her tail just.. falls off as blood splattered everywhere.
"MIA!!" Theeven yelled out, his voice crackling with rage and anger at the sight.
As Theeven gets angry and tries to slash the man, the man catched his blade and punched his hand through Theeven.
"Why.. why is it happening all over again?! We are going to die!" Mathis muttered to himself, his panic visible on his face.
A bright light flashed before all of them, as Mathis regained his vision.. his face darkened at the sight before him--Selvyn was looking at where her arm was supposed to be.. it was gone and it didn't seem to be healing, the human form of the Gem was now laying in the mud.
But as for Theeven and Arthur.. Theeven had a hand sticking out his back and Arthur had a long sword piercing his chest and exiting his back.
Mathis looked at the blood bath.. the massacre that has happened before him in less than 1 minute, his face being one of absolute fear and worry.
[All skills have been temporarily cancelled due to 'the manifestation of Wrath and Envy of humanity' using his authority.]
[Party member 'Arthur' has died.]
Mathis looked at the sight before him, he was helplessly watching his loyal comrades being slaughtered like pigs before him.
For the very first time, tears start streaming down Mathis's face.
"What the hell is wrong with you!!" Mathis yelled out in despair and sorrow.
The no. 1 looked back at him, his eyes holding a twisted sadistic happiness as he smirked as if he had just done the greatest thing ever.
"You're frozen in fear? How does it feel? How does it feel to see everyone you love and care about being slaughtered before you're very eyes!" The man said as he laughed like a psychopath who enjoyed seeing others suffer.
After speaking he threw Arthur's body to Mathis, and twisted sense of satisfaction was in his eyes.
"You.. you're a demon!" Mathis yelled out as he looked at Arthur's body, his eyes filled with despair.
"I am glad you think so!" The man said as he laughed even harder.
Mathis tried to rush to Selvyn to help her but.. was abruptly interrupted as Selvyn fell to her knees--that devilish man had sliced her knees the moment he saw Mathis try to help her.
Before Mathis could break down, the unknown woman appeared next to him--she looked rather messed up with afew deep cuts and many broken bones.
"Do not let yourself fall into despair, sir Mathis.. let's fight him together." The woman said, her tone indifferent.
The man walked towards the duo, a dark aura coming off him--an aura so dark that only that devilish smirk of his could be seen.
[The Gem of ----- has unleashed its true power.]
The woman next to Mathis starts to unleash a pure, white aura--the aura of the woman and the man clashed as they stepped towards eachother, Mathis staying besides the woman.
"Such power.. i can't even breathe!" Mathis thought to himself as he looked at the two auras clashing.
The two of them started fighting at a pace that Mathis could not keep up with--the woman kicks the man flying as she appeared in the air with him, exchanging punches.
As they landed they start exchanging kicks, punched and slashes--the woman sent 3 punches and 1 spinning back kick so fast that Mathis could barely even see them--the man blocked the punches but took the spinning back kick, sending him flying for 40 feet before he got back up.
Before the man had time to react, the woman appeared before him and threw a right hook at his face--breaking a tooth as he then punched back at her face, making the woman spit some blood.
"I might just survive this.. this is a battle of titans, I can not get involved in such a battle or else.. ill just be a dead weight--to operate at such a level.. i would need to evolve beyond human limits, beyond mere skill from quests." Mathis thought to himself as he walked towards Selvyn, Theeven and the now human Mia--he fed them all full restoration potion, preventing potential deaths.
As Mathis looked back at the clash between the woman and the man--he saw both of them exchanging punches and slashes high in the sky.
Mathis saw something fall out the sky, it was none but two of the man's 4 arms--the woman had now made the fight fair by cutting both of the man's arms off.
In response the man quickly slices her own arm off, but the woman ignored the pain and punched him so hard that once he landed on the ground a crater was formed beneath him.
The woman then appeared before him and landed an axe kick on the man--but the man dodged and summoned a spear, stabbing it through her chest.
The man then kicked her away from him while pulling the spear out to maximise damage--but to his surprise... the woman stood there, taking the kick and not budging an inch.
"What the hell.. they are both in a league of their own, and they aren't even using their skills!" Mathis thought to himself, although deep down he was glad that the woman could fight against the No. 1 like this.
Deciding to not take the risk of the woman dying, Mathis rushes in and tries to strike the man with the true holy blade--only to get his chest almost sliced open if it wasn't for the woman stopping him from getting involved.
[Authority has worn off and skills have been restored!]
The woman immediately ceased the chance to use a skill.
[The Gem of ---- has used 'skill: The all consuming abyssal blade.']
A purely black short sword that seemed to absorb even light around it, forms in her hand.
She then quickly slashed the number 1, his body exploding to a mist of blood and shards of bones--which the sword then proceeds to consume and leave no trace of.
As the blade faded away, it revealed a severe burn mark on the woman's hand--it seemed to be the repercussion for using that blade for only 2 seconds.
Yet before his very eyes--the arm that the woman had lost, regenerated.
All the wounds on her body had closed up at superhuman speeds, not letting even another drop of blood fall.
