With the air around him getting lighter, making it easier for him to breath, Azrael didn't even manage to get a second of respite as within just a split second, the comfort he just worked so hard to achieve all comes crumbling down, the power of petrification coming out of the Twisted Principality of Permanence increasing ever so slightly as if making sure that the power is keeping up with his improvements.
This makes it so that no matter how many times he had pushed himself through and endure the absurd, painful and uncomfortable effects of the petrification, he will always return to that state similar to when he just started the training, making it so that he can never get used to the principality's power.
