Chapter 151 - Chapter 151: Death Incident

After Link turned past the final corner, a thick stench of blood instantly rushed into his face.

Outside the corridor, the shy moon, as if also curious about what was happening here, slowly poked its head out from behind the dark clouds and cast its light down onto this place.

Through the moonlight like silver gauze, Link clearly saw that those patrol team members were now lying crookedly on the ground.

And beside them, there was a person completely shrouded in a black robe, squatting.

Almost without any hesitation, Link, in disguised form, directly waved his wand, and a blade of invisibility flew toward that person.

But at the next moment, a huge black shadow suddenly blocked in front of that person, firmly blocking the attack for them.

Clang!~

A string of sparks suddenly burst forth in the darkness.

It lit up the face of the big-bearded patrol team member on the ground, and at the same time revealed a segment of deep green giant snake body.

"Arkam!" Link gritted his teeth and shouted loudly, trying to awaken the controlled basilisk.

But the response to him was a pair of yellow-orange pupils, lamp-sized golden brown, and a beastly roar.

Hiss hiss hiss!~ (Kill you!)

'Sure enough, can't wake it up, huh?' Link ducked his head to avoid the basilisk Arkam's gaze while thinking.

To be honest, he had already predicted this kind of situation long ago. And for this, he had already prepared a countermeasure.

The basilisk Arkam coiled its body, then, like an arrow released from the string, lunged at Link with a bite.

Seeing this, Link twisted and rolled, using the effect of Boreas' Blood, he rolled out nearly four meters.

Boom!

The basilisk Arkam's massive snake head struck the ground directly, blasting a large pit in the floor.

Its impact was so strong that the entire corridor shook slightly.

The black-robed person behind the basilisk shook his head in disappointment, then turned into a mass of black mist and flew out through the nearby arched stone window.

Not far away, Link took advantage of the basilisk Arkam being in the recovery stage after attacking, and suddenly threw out a small stone, while his wand pointed at it from a distance.

"Transfigure!"

Buzz!

A dim light flashed. The stone drew an arc through the air and suddenly twisted and transformed, turning into a large rooster with a red comb on its head.

Next, the rooster flapped its wings in mid-air and raised its neck, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!~"

The loud crowing of the rooster suddenly rang out in the quiet night, shocking Link into alertness.

And that basilisk Arkam, which had just re-coiled its body to prepare another attack, suddenly shrunk its pupils upon hearing the sound, and as if seeing a ghost, retreated into a nearby washroom with speed faster than when it attacked before.

Seeing this, Link didn't stop moving, his wand pointed again at the now landed rooster.

The rooster trembled all over and turned back into a stone. That rousing crow also disappeared along with the last note's changing pitch.

This was a necessary step. Because the rooster's crow is the bane of basilisks, hearing just a little might not be fatal, but too much could become life-threatening.

After finishing all of this, Link finally rushed into that room.

But what disappointed him was that in the not-so-large washroom, the basilisk Arkam was already gone. Only a broken faucet kept spraying water.

"Damn!" Link couldn't help but curse.

Tonight could be said to be the closest chance he ever had to save Arkam and catch the Heir, but he still failed to grasp such a good opportunity, this made him extremely anxious.

But looking at the messy washroom and the pitted corridor, Link finally still walked out of the washroom and began to check the situation of those patrol team members.

Unfortunately, all of them were already dead. And their deaths were tragic.

The big-bearded leader had most of his chest blown open, and the others had throats, left chests, and other vital areas covered in multiple cutting wounds and piercing wounds.

Because it hadn't been long since their deaths, and the weather outside was gradually warming, their blood was still slowly spreading across the floor.

The smell of blood that Link had smelled earlier was exactly from this.

Looking at the corpses in front of him, all with different death poses, the expression on Link's face was one of puzzlement.

He had been with basilisk Arkam for nearly a year now, and had naturally seen some small prey killed by Arkam's instant-death stare.

Those prey all had one common feature, they showed no external wounds, and from the outside, they just looked like they were asleep.

As for prey killed by Arkam by other means, the corpses would be extremely brutal in appearance. After all, with Arkam's huge size, it was very hard to leave a whole corpse behind.

But now, the patrol team members in front of Link didn't match either of those conditions.

Compared to being killed by the basilisk Arkam, this looked more like someone had used curses to kill them.

But if that were really the case, then why didn't that black-robed person just use the efficient basilisk Arkam to do it? After all, the basilisk kills much faster, doesn't it?

'Could it be that... he had a reason that forced him to kill with his own hands?'

Link suddenly thought of something, but couldn't fully grasp the idea, it made him furrow his brows even tighter.

Just as he was tangled in thought, a series of hurried, disorganized footsteps reached his ears.

He looked up and, sure enough, saw several waving lights quickly approaching from the far corridor.

Link knew very well, these were other patrol team members drawn over by the earlier commotion.

Seeing this, Link sighed, and finally turned into a blurred ghostly shadow, vanishing into the darkness.

Ten minutes later, the door to Link's dorm was once again pushed open forcefully, and at the same time, a dazzling beam of light, like a basketball court spotlight, lit up the whole dorm.

"Emergency assembly! Everyone wake up!"

Amid Cedric's roar, Link pretended to wake up and sat up from his bed.

Above him, John was so startled that he directly rolled off his bed, lying on the floor and letting out a few cries before grumbling in dissatisfaction, "What is it now?"

Under the piercing cold light, Cedric's face looked especially pale.

He looked at the confused and dissatisfied faces of Link, John, and the others, breathing heavily, and after a long pause finally said with difficulty, "An attack incident happened again. And this time, four patrol team members died!"
