Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: This is very Cedric

Harry had a completely confused face. The secret he wanted to tell Link was the biggest secret in his heart, but Link acted so indifferent.

This made it hard for him to accept for a moment.

At this moment, Hermione, who had been squatting on the side, also reacted. She suddenly stood up, looking nervously at Link and said, "You're leaving?"

"Yes, indeed someone is waiting for me." Link scratched his head again.

Link really wasn't lying, John and the others were actually waiting at the castle entrance. Although they thought they were hiding very well, they had no idea Link had long since noticed their sneaky appearances.

Hermione's expression suddenly became a bit tangled. She hadn't told Harry and Ron about what just happened, because she didn't want them to worry about her. But she was clear in her heart that Link had once again saved her. If you count the time with the troll, this was the second time.

In her eyes now, Link had a strong déjà vu feeling of a knight from a novel. It was as if no matter what danger she encountered, he would always appear just in time like a heavenly soldier descending from the sky, bringing an absolute sense of security.

'Link is a reliable person.'

Hermione tightly grabbed Link's sleeve. Ever since she left home and came to Hogwarts alone, she hadn't felt this kind of security again.

This made Hermione, who had just experienced danger and hadn't fully recovered, not want to leave Link at all.

But she couldn't think of a reason to make him stay. Could she directly say she wanted to spend a bit more time with Link?

That would be too embarrassing.

Thinking this way, Hermione felt her cheeks heat up a bit.

After a long while, she finally let go of Link's sleeve, covered her face for a bit, and stammered, "Then... then be careful on the way."

"Alright, no problem."

Link gave a carefree smile, waved his hand, and walked toward the castle, leaving Harry and the others standing in place, speechless.

———

"Link! You were amazing!"

As soon as Link arrived at the Hogwarts Entrance Hall, John excitedly rushed over.

This left Link a bit baffled. He pushed John aside and said, "What are you talking about? What did I do?"

"Hehe, I saw it all!" John's eyes curved into crescent moons as he said mischievously, "That little Gryffindor girl kept holding your sleeve, and when you left, she looked so reluctant! Link. You're really impressive. This was only your first date, and you already made it this far,"

As soon as this was said, the others present burst into laughter.

Fortunately, John and the others were just joking around and didn't mean anything bad. When Link started to show some annoyance, they sensibly stopped.

At this point, the topic naturally shifted back to Harry.

"I say, that Harry Potter isn't all that great." John said smugly. "You guys saw how he almost couldn't control his broom during the match."

"Yeah, yeah. He's just average, he's way worse than Cedric."

"That's right!"

Hearing the Hufflepuff team members chatting excitedly around him, Link felt a little speechless.

Although he wasn't very interested in Quidditch, he still had basic judgment.

Compared to Gryffindor, Hufflepuff's overall Quidditch skill level was not just a little bit weaker. To put it bluntly, as long as the Hufflepuff team didn't get completely wrecked by the Gryffindor Beaters, that was already an impressive performance.

The only reason they could still laugh now was all thanks to Cedric.

In the past there was Bilsen carrying four noobs by himself, and now there's Cedric carrying six. This really was hard on poor Cedric.

Thinking this, even though Link was internally complaining, on the surface he still kept a smiling face and laughed along with everyone.

After all, although roasting people feels good, it hurts others too much and isn't good for team unity.

But after everyone happily dispersed, Cedric came to find Link alone.

He patted Link's shoulder with a guilty look and said:

"Sorry, Link, for making you do something like that. John and the others were just joking. They just wanted you to make more friends. Gathering intel and such isn't important."

"It's fine, Cedric, I understand what they meant. But… after watching this match, I do have some thoughts."

"Oh? Do you think we have a chance to win this year?"

Hearing this, Link stared at Cedric for a while. Seeing he was serious, he sighed and said "John actually had a bit of a point. Harry's physical endurance really isn't great. He's still young. But can we really go all out like Slytherin and target Harry? Plus… he has a Nimbus 2000."

Hearing this, Cedric also sighed deeply.

What Link said was true. Harry's debut did reveal some weaknesses, but they weren't weaknesses Hufflepuff could take advantage of.

After all, they were Hufflepuff, not the cutthroat Slytherins.

Of course, the biggest issue was still the Nimbus 2000.

That cheat-like broomstick could erase most of Harry's flaws.

If he continued training and improved his skills, the Gryffindor Quidditch team would become even scarier.

Thinking of this made Cedric's teeth ache again.

Link, seeing him like this, felt the same way. After thinking for a while, Link tentatively said, "Cedric, why don't you also get a Nimbus 2000?"

He remembered that Cedric also came from a pure-blood family. Although not from the Sacred Twenty-Eight or extremely wealthy, his father was an official in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures at the Ministry of Magic. A Nimbus 2000 should still be affordable.

But when Cedric heard this, he just bitterly smiled and shook his head, "Better not. My father's already worried enough about my situation. I don't want to trouble him with this kind of thing again."

Link fell silent. He had to admit, this really was so Cedric.

Seeing Link like this, Cedric instead gave Link a light punch on the shoulder and comforted, "It's fine! Even without a Nimbus 2000, I can still lead Hufflepuff to victory. After all, I'm the best Seeker at Hogwarts."

Link was stunned for a moment when he heard this, then also gave Cedric a punch and said, "That's right. You are the best Seeker at Hogwarts."

Their commotion attracted quite a few curious glances from passersby in the Entrance Hall.

But under such a slightly awkward atmosphere, Link and Cedric looked at each other, and then burst into hearty laughter.
