Chapter 73 - Breeding House +1 Member

Carver stepped forward and picked up the Poké Ball, feeling quite excited inside.

Great! He now had a pseudo-legendary Pokémon too!

"Come on out, Bagon!"

Carver suppressed his excitement and pressed the button on the Poké Ball. The next moment, a beam of white light wrapped around Bagon's body and fell to the ground.

The dirt-covered Bagon looked up at the human in front of it.

Carver took a healing potion from his bag and used it on Bagon.

"I'm Carver, Bagon. Please take care of me from now on!" he said.

Bagon looked at the human before it. Although it acknowledged the human's strength in its heart, it was still a little worried about one thing.

This human named Carver… he wouldn't spread the story of what just happened to the other Pokémon, right?

Perfect. He'd stay close and keep an eye on them to make sure they didn't reveal his embarrassing moment!

"Bagon…" Bagon let out a low cry.

Carver conveniently checked its info and immediately noticed Bagon's current mood.

This made him want to laugh.

Goodness… this was a prideful Bagon!

But that kind of thing—he had no reason to tell anyone else anyway.

"Alright, Bagon. Let's go home together now!" Carver said as he took out the Poké Ball and returned Bagon inside: "Return, Bagon!"

Carver didn't linger long at Meteor Falls.

His mind was already on the Pokémon back at the breeding house, so after capturing Bagon, he followed Bewear and quickly headed back.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly on the way. By the time they returned to the breeding house, it was already 2 PM.

Growlithe and the others happily came forward to greet him.

Looking at the Pokémon in front of him, Carver smiled as he released Bagon and introduced it to everyone.

"This is Bagon. From today on, he's also part of our breeding house family!"

The Pokémon didn't seem to mind the arrival of a new companion—in fact, they were very welcoming.

But Bagon, who had always lived independently and was facing so many Pokémon for the first time, was a little startled by the lively scene.

"Bagon!"

"Growl! Growl!"

"Pipipi~!"

"Haunter!"

...

All the Pokémon in the breeding house looked at Bagon kindly, offering him a warm welcome.

But Bagon was clearly unused to it and even took two steps back in surprise.

Still, he pretended to stay calm.

Seeing this, Carver chuckled and said, "Alright, everyone go play. I'll take Bagon and show him around our home."

The Pokémon all dispersed.

Bagon immediately let out a sigh of relief.

"These are all Pokémon who live with us here at the breeding house," Carver said. "Come with me. I'll give you a tour and you can see where you'd like to live—it's your choice."

"Bagon…" Bagon didn't have high demands for his residence. As long as he could train and aim for the sky, anywhere would do.

That said, he still obediently followed Carver, touring the place.

But just before they could set off, the sound of a pleasant wind chime rang out from outside the door.

A visitor!

Carver turned his head and saw a woman dressed like a mother leading a child who looked about ten years old into the breeding house.

The woman looked at Carver with a slight surprise, as if she hadn't expected the owner to be so young.

Still, she politely asked, "Hello, sorry to bother you—are you the owner of this breeding house?"

"That's me." Carver nodded, gesturing to Bagon to wait for a moment. He turned to the woman and asked, "How can I help you?"

The woman looked at the boy beside her and gently said:

"I'm here to help my son pick his first Pokémon."

First Pokémon? Carver was slightly taken aback.

Just then, the boy saw Bagon next to Carver.

His gaze was immediately drawn to it and he exclaimed:

"That Pokémon… is that a Bagon?!"

Upon hearing that, both Carver and the woman turned their eyes toward Bagon.

Carver raised an eyebrow.

"Bagon?" The woman was just an ordinary housewife and had never been a trainer before. Hearing that, she looked at the small Pokémon in confusion.

"That's right!" the boy said excitedly. "That's a very rare dragon-type Pokémon! And when it evolves, it becomes really powerful. Mom, I want Bagon to be my first Pokémon!"

"I see..." the woman blinked.

But before she could say anything, Carver spoke first:

"I'm very sorry, but this Bagon is my Pokémon and not for sale."

"Huh?" The boy was immediately very disappointed.

"Don't worry. We can still find another Pokémon," the woman comforted her son and then asked Carver, "Do you have any other Pokémon available?"

"Unfortunately," Carver shook his head regretfully, "the last batch of unhatched Pokémon eggs has already been sold out. There haven't been any new Pokémon born in the breeding house yet, so for now, we don't have any suitable Pokémon—"

The breeding house hadn't yet unlocked Ditto's egg-breeding service. Even though there was a Ditto temporarily living here, it still had some psychological trauma. The Hoenn League also didn't have any suitable eggs to send over for the time being.

"I see…" the woman's face showed disappointment.

There wasn't much Carver could do about this either. "However, if you're willing to wait, you could come back in one or two months."

"Alright." The woman nodded. "I understand."

She could wait, but clearly her son—who had just turned ten and had been looking forward to traveling as a trainer for a long time—couldn't wait any longer.

Mother and son left the breeding house, and Carver saw them off.

He shook his head helplessly, then continued showing Bagon around the breeding house.

The backyard, the Clefairies' spaceship, the forest area, the lake area, the grassy area, and the adjacent planting field.

After seeing everything, Bagon finally chose the relatively empty backyard as its new territory.

He found a wide hollow in a tree in the forest area and made it his nest.

Watching this, Carver couldn't help but think:

Maybe the breeding house should add some mountains and waterfalls… then they could dig artificial caves for Pokémon like Bagon to live in.

"Bagon, starting tomorrow, I'll design a special training plan just for you—until you evolve into Salamence and can fly," Carver said.

"Bagon!" Bagon nodded.

He didn't mind training—on the contrary, as long as it made him stronger and let him soar into the sky, he was willing to accept any training!
