"Don't be so upset, Blue," Luka cajoled, trying to catch the little bird out of the air. "I wasn't gone for that long. Look, I brought you treats."
Truly, Blue did have every reason to be upset. Luka had never locked it up before, the doors and windows were always open, and it was free to fly anywhere it wished.
So, suddenly being trapped in a dim room had been terrifying. The windows had been closed, limiting it from flying into the gardens like it previously could.
Luka hadn't the faintest idea what Alessio had gotten his bird, but he hoped it would soothe it regardless, guilt eating at him. He had become accustomed to putting Alessio over everyone and everything else that he hadn't thought much about locking Blue up for so long, too focused on the Vampire Prince.
He opened up the bag and peered in, and for a moment, Blue was distracted from trying to peck out his eyes in anger, the bluebird perched on the edge of the bag to look in as well.
