Celeste's Point Of View:
I woke up quite late and wondered why nobody came to wake me. Maybe we
are on a vacation?
I took my bath and dressed up with the clothes I wore the previous day,
then I went downstairs for breakfast.
At the dining table was an
aged man who I haven't seen since I came here. From the way he sat comfortably
with the Newspaper on his hands as he turned the pages elegantly, I knew he was
the Lord of the house.
"Are you just going to stand there or would you join me for breakfast?"
Lord Angord asked breaking the silence.
I moved to the far end of the table and pulled out a seat…
"Come sit at my left hand dear" Lord Angord said stopping her from sitting
there.
She pulled the seat right beside his left hand and sat, wondering why he
made such a request.
"You must be Celeste. Darcy's latest bride" Lord Angord said while dropping
his papers and picking up his cup of herbal tea with a drop of blood.
Celeste still kept mute.
"I see why he chose you. You are charming".
Celeste snorted mistakenly.
"Why? What's funny?" Lord Angord asked.
"Technically, his twin brother chose me. As a matter of fact he even rejected
me" Celeste said recalling her first meal with his family.
Lord Angord smiled and signaled the servant nearby to leave.
"My dear, he chose you. The boy I know wouldn't have gone through with
the wedding if he didn't want you."
" You seem to know him well" Celeste said trying to strike a conversation
and to know if she would be lucky enough to learn about Darcy's childhood stories.
"I know him better" He replied and offered to pour for Celeste her tea.
After pouring it for her. She took a sip and smiled.
"That was his favorite too. You both have a lot in common I see." Lord Angord
said recalling the first time he poured it for Darcy.
He had just arrived and had been throwing tantrums and claiming that he
was innocent and doesn't deserve to be here. He had sent four of his servants
to carry him to this dining table and then, promised to listen to his own side of
the story if he shared a cup of tea with him.
Darcy requested for a blood coffee instead but Lord Angord sneaked in the
cinnamon tea. When Darcy smelt it he knew immediately that this wasn't what he wanted
but the refreshing smell couldn't make him reject it.
He took a sip and smiled
and then he kept quiet throughout the whole session, savoring every sip of his
tea.
Lord Angord noted some where that he might be innocent but who knows?
"What was he like?" Celeste asked cutting his thoughts short.
"He was edgy, stubborn and sometimes annoying but, beneath it all he was
caring and always wanted to help" he replied.
"Then why was he sent here?"
" I believe he would be in the best position to answer that himself as he's
already here". Lord Angord said pointing towards the door.
Darcy walked in and sat at his right side and then stared at Celeste before
pouring himself the same tea.
" You would have asked me yourself yesterday yet, here you are asking
Lord Angord. Are you that scared of me?" Darcy said without sparing her a
glance.
"I'm not scared of you. I just haven't seen the right opportunity to bring
it up" Celeste said immediately.
"Well here I am. Go ahead and ask me"
"Why were you sent here my lord?" Celeste asked sarcastically
"I unalived somebody" Darcy replied with no emotion on his face.
Celeste was shocked." At that age? Has he always been like this since
his childhood?" She thought with a whole other thoughts running through her
mind. She was too stunned to reply.
The rest of the breakfast went on in silence and when she was done she excused
herself and went to the garden.
"How did your meeting go?" Lord Angord finally said breaking the silence.
"Not well" Darcy said subtly. Then he added after a while "The death reaper
did come for her. Why it did, we don't know and the most important part is that
it would be back this night again as she is not a vampire. She doesn't have the
luxury of 3 months like we do"
" Well you have until midnight to come up with a solution. You know the rules
you can't kill it twice." Lord Angord said and then left for his room.
Darcy casually gulped down his whole tea and went outside to meet Celeste.
He had some questions.
In the garden, Celeste was just sitting under a shade there , still wondering
about what Darcy said inside. She thought that maybe he was blackmailed to accept
the blames or it was a mistake but, what kind of mistake can a child make that
takes one's life?.
"I wasn't blackmailed and I did kill the person" Darcy said and sat beside
her.
"I don't believe you" Celeste replied
They sat for a while in silence after this then,
" How does your dreams feel like?" Darcy asked breaking the silence.
" Almost real. I could smell the woods and my cologne. The pains are
real and suffocating and I could feel my tears" Celeste said remembering how
she felt last night before she woke up.
"You felt empty" Darcy said and then added "Like you were being swallowed
by an unending darkness"
"Yes how do you know?"
"Because you actually died" he said. It felt bitter in his mouth when he
said it, it also felt like he was stung by an insect that was poisonous.
"Jokes. Then why am I still here?" Celeste casually said half believing
him.
"I don't know how and why but, I know that what I killed yesterday was
here to collect your soul and it will be back tonight".
