Chapter 31 - Fired Harold

"What's all of this?" Asked Albert Hardza, the board member in charge of the company's finances and treasury, with a frown.

Murmurs spread as other board members looked questioningly at Logan.

Some board members remained silent, quickly skimming through the pages. As they read through the pages, their expressions shifted immensely.

"You've been ignoring our calls for meetings," Harold Leyvex said, refusing to even glance at the papers. "And now you ask for a meeting, not to discuss things with us, but to throw a stack of papers in front of us?"

Some nodded in agreement, while the board members who'd skimmed through the pages looked at Harold with strange expressions. Evelyn and two other board members exchanged small, knowing smiles. The rest stared at Harold in horror.

"Are you done?" Logan asked, his expression cold.

"I think I've made my point," Harold said, nodding, still blissfully unaware of his situation.

"Is what's stated in these papers true?" one of the three S-rank dungeon managers, Garrick Morgan, asked, frowning.

"Yes," Logan nodded, his expression still cold. "There's conclusive proof on page 12, found by the investigation team I hired."

"Interesting," a woman in her early 50s said with a cold expression as she flipped through the papers.

"How come I wasn't made aware of these documents?" she then asked, glancing up at Logan.

Logan looked at the board member, Marissa Caldwell, carefully before responding.

"That's very simple," Logan began. "The internal investigation is still ongoing. Until it's concluded, none of you are privy to these documents."

He paused, then added, "Not to mention, the legal process would have taken far longer to act on what is already conclusive proof."

Complete silence fell in the room. Every single board member understood that things were getting serious. None of them underestimated Logan as the CEO any further and waited patiently for his response.

Finally realizing the gravity of the situation, Harold began flipping through the pages at a frantic pace as the others watched in silence.

His face slowly changed, growing redder and redder the further he got through the documents.

He shot to his feet and slammed the documents onto the table. "These are all lies!" he shouted, his face burning up from embarrassment and anger.

Holding no control over his emotions, a thin wave of mana spread through the room.

Before his mana surge could reach Logan, the S-ranks in the room unleashed theirs and quickly dissolved Harold's.

Silas had no intention of letting it slide. He intensified his mana output and focused it directly on Harold.

Harold's feet sank into the floor as a thin trail of blood ran from his lips. His expression, however, didn't change, staring at Logan and Silas in pure rage.

"Mind your manners," Silas said, looking at Harold coldly before stopping the pressure.

Logan, who had been watching in silence, finally spoke up again.

"None of these claims are false," Logan started, expressionless. "Therefore, you are officially resigned from your position on the board and fired from this company."

"Additionally, the Mana Enforcement Bureau is waiting for you outside to deal with your crimes."

At the mention of the Mana Enforcement Bureau, Harold's face turned ghostly pale.

"You... can't do this," he said, pointing at Logan. "I've worked for your father for many years, he wouldn't approve of this."

"Then he can rehire you when he's back," Logan answered, offering a small smile.

The rest of the room was quiet. Every single one of the board members reevaluated Logan internally and calculated their next moves.

The silence was broken by a familiar S-ranker, Garrick Morgan.

"Good, good," the S-ranker Garrick laughed. "This is exactly what should happen to spineless cowards."

The other board members stared at Garrick, but none of them interrupted him, as if they were familiar with this kind of behavior from him.

"I don't risk my life in dungeons just so office cowards, who've never set foot in one, can steal the rewards," he said, laughing.

As Garrick slowly stopped laughing, he gave a small nod to two other S-ranks in the room.

"Well then," he said, standing up. "We'll guard him to the M.E.B. squad downstairs."

"If you don't mind, we'll be going back to our stations right after that," another S-ranker who was in charge of an S-rank dungeon asked.

"I don't mind," Logan said, smiling.

Two of the S-rankers walked towards Harold and grabbed him firmly, while Garrick personally encased Harold's hands and legs with his Earth affinity.

They guided him out while Logan turned to the rest of the board members.

"I'll temporarily reassign Harold's duties to Edric because of his past experience with internal management," Logan said in a neutral tone.

The rest of the board members quietly nodded, their expressions unreadable.

"Good," Logan nodded. "That's all for today."

With that, he turned around and left, Edric and Silas following closely behind him.

Sitting down in Logan's room, Silas and Edric couldn't help but smile.

"That was excellent work," Silas said, grabbing a bottle of wine out of a risen floor hatch. "I think a little celebration is needed after the weeks of hard work."

Before Logan could respond, a bottle of wine was thrown at him.

"Catch," Silas said without looking, grabbing a bottle for himself and Edric.

"I can't drink this," Logan said, confused.

"If we can make hydration water, what makes you think we can't make special wine?" Silas asked, pouring two glasses for him and Edric.

Logan stared at Silas for a second, before turning to the wine.

"That's fair enough," Logan said, pouring himself a glass.

All of them sat back down and drank glass after glass. Even Silas, despite his tolerance, ended up slightly drunk from the special wine.

"I have to admit it," Edric mumbled, drunk. "I never expected this to work out so well."

"If my son had served you instead of those spoiled brats... maybe he'd still be here," he said even softer.

Logan hadn't heard him, but Silas did. Flashing a sympathetic look, he quickly poured another glass of wine and gave it to Edric.
