Ancagalon's name resonated with the assembled mages, their knowledge of arcane lore immediately identifying him as a male blue dragon in humanoid form.
"And me, Sindragosa, at your service!" The name itself echoed a tragic past, the original blue dragon queen. But this was a second-generation blue dragon elite, her sharp gaze sweeping across the four airships, her cold aura causing a palpable tightening in the mages' chests. Her power was undeniable.
Can't beat them, definitely can't beat them! These two are demigod-level ancient blue dragons! Damn it, didn't the ancient texts say the Blue Dragonflight was almost annihilated in the War of the Ancients, with hardly any significant high-end combat power besides Malygos? Our ancestors misled us!
"This crisis of the magic web is an internal conflict within our dragon legion. We have formed the Wyrmrest Accord to resolve this matter," Ancagalon announced loudly. "In the future, we will send a blue dragon ambassador to Dalaran to join the Kirin Tor Council. The ambassador will provide a full explanation for the Blue Dragonflight's errors in maintaining the Azeroth magic web!"
With that, Ancagalon took Sindragosa's hand, and they leaped from the gunship, transforming into two colossal blue dragons during their descent. Their size dwarfed the adult blue dragons sent by Coldarra.
"Heh…" Gandalf's lips curved into a knowing, ambiguous smile as he watched Ancagalon and Sindragosa. Galen's loyalty to his subordinates was well-known, though his penchant for matchmaking was a peculiar trait. Gandalf, however, was pleased with Aegwynn; they shared common ground. As for potential offspring, the still-vigorous wizard could only leave it to fate.
The massive blue dragons' wings bore the markings of the Wyrmrest Accord and the Scarlet Crusade as they plunged into the chaotic aerial battle. With each strike, a blue dragon was encased in ice and plummeted from the sky. Their very presence caused whelps and five-meter-tall dragonkin alike to tremble on the ground. Watching their comrades fall to these powerful, yet familiar-looking, blue dragons, Cyanigosa and Arygos grew frantic and directly engaged them.
Alexstrasza watched from behind, her expression a mixture of surprise and confusion. "Where did these blue dragons come from!" The Red Dragon Queen was incredulous. A sense of familiarity emanated from the two blue dragons, yet she couldn't place it.
Chromie, in her bronze dragon form, had a flash of insight in her draconic eyes. "Perhaps they are blue dragons who survived from ancient times, perhaps they are related to Senegos!"
As if summoned by name, a colossal portal ripped open above Dragonblight, and an immense blue dragon emerged. This dragon rivaled the Red Dragon Queen in size, but his head, lower jaw, and neck were covered in white hair, and the bones of his horns and wings were crystallized, a clear indication of great age.
"Senegos!" Alexstrasza gasped, a moment of stunned silence before recognition dawned. This was a blue dragon as old as Malygos himself! "It truly is him! I never expected him to still be alive. I thought he perished in the Dragon Soul's attack!"
Senegos, an ancient blue dragon and the oldest known non-Aspect dragon, had received the Titans' blessings alongside the five Dragon Aspects. His lineage was ancient indeed. Ten thousand years ago, he had survived the mad Black Dragon King Deathwing's assault on the Blue Dragonflight. Severely wounded, he had been rescued by Ancagalon and spirited away from the battlefield. Unlike Malygos, who had succumbed to madness, Senegos had quietly taken the blue dragon eggs he guarded and established a blue dragon sanctuary in the Broken Isles. He had remained there for ten millennia.
In the original timeline, the Azurewing Repose in the Broken Isles had struggled. It was a fractured land, a remnant of the Well of Eternity's explosion. The residual magic within the earth's nodes was insufficient to sustain the blue dragons. To ensure the hatching of more eggs, Senegos had refrained from actively absorbing the depleted magic for thousands of years, leaving his own magical reserves dangerously low, even nearing the end of his life. But in this timeline, with Ancagalon, Galen's planted agent, and the support of the Magic Spring, the Moonwell of Eldre'Thalas, this blue dragon habitat had flourished.
As Senegos appeared, numerous other dragons flew through the portal behind him. "The Blue Dragonflight has actually recovered to such a number!" The mages of various races struggled to contain their rapidly beating hearts. Emma, it's a good thing we didn't forcefully attack when we listened to Grand Marshal Galen. The number of blue dragons that just emerged far exceeds the number in Coldarra. If they retaliate after the war, our races won't be able to withstand it!
Alexstrasza and Chromie flew over, a gesture of respect for Senegos. The three giant dragons transformed into their humanoid forms, landing on a high mountain overlooking the coast of Coldarra: the Red Dragon Queen as a female night elf, Chromie as a gnome, and Senegos as a high elf with white hair and eyebrows.
"Senegos! It truly is you!" Alexstrasza exclaimed.
"It is I, Your Majesty Alexstrasza, and old friend Chromie!" Senegos replied in a weathered voice.
"Where have you been all these years? I never imagined you had silently restored the blue dragon numbers to such a scale. If you had appeared earlier, perhaps Malygos wouldn't have descended so deeply into madness!" The Red Dragon Queen sighed.
Senegos remained silent. He and Malygos had once been close comrades, but the Blue Dragonflight's near annihilation had created a rift between them regarding their future path. As for his delayed appearance, perhaps a deeply rooted, unresolved conflict lay at its heart.
"Malygos was consumed by hatred, fixated on killing Nefarian, and had no intention of rebuilding the entire Blue Dragonflight. I simply did what I believed was right!" Senegos sighed internally, though no pride colored his words. "I deeply regret Malygos's choices. I hope we can undo his mistakes this time."
