Rui's fevered fingers traced the line of his jaw, her touch sending shivers through him that had nothing to do with the cold mountain air outside.
"You beautiful, impossible man," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion and illness.
"Do you have any idea how long I waited for you to say something like that?"
Her thumb brushed across his lower lip, and Shen's eyes fluttered closed at the contact.
"I used to imagine what it would be like if you stopped calling me Princess," she continued, her confession as fevered as her skin.
"If you looked at me the way you're looking at me now."
"And now?" Shen's question was barely audible.
"Now I wonder why we wasted so much time."
Rui's hand slid to the back of his neck, fingers tangling in the dark hair at his nape.
"I can't promise this will be simple, Shen. My heart—"
"It is big enough for all of us," he finished, his voice certain despite the tremor in his hands.
