Merlina exhaled softly, releasing a breath she didn't know was trapped in.
It was now or never, she knew it and that only made her more determined to get it over and done with.
Lifting her chin up, "Mr. Lesnar," she began, "I know you're the one behind the expulsion… and the lawsuit. And I know you…don't approve of what's been happening between your son and me."
Charles Lesnar's gaze held hers, sharp and deliberate. For a moment, he hesitated, weighing whether her words were a provocation, a subtle attack, or an attempt at pleading. He couldn't quite place her intent.
Merlina took a moment, swallowing the emotion clogging her throat, bracing her heart for the heavy burden of her next words, "I want to say this clearly, in person. I will keep my distance from Craig. What we had… it was never serious. It's over, I won't interfere in his life, anymore."
