The next dawn
Before the sun had even risen, the group was already deep in the forest. By afternoon, they had crossed into the inner region, combing the area for suitable soul beasts.
What they didn't realize was that Tang Yin had already expanded his fifty-kilometer telepathic sense, quietly marking the positions of several promising targets.
He wasn't just looking for the strongest beasts — he sought those with the right attributes and the greatest potential. Just raw strength alone was useless Infront of true master, versatility was equly important as well.
Then, something foul brushed against his mind. A wave of malice, thick and suffocating, slithered through his senses. An extremely evil presence was lurking nearby.
He recognized it, yet wasn't entirely certain, so he activated Purple Demon Eye alongside his telepathy, piercing the distance to get a clear look at the evil creature.
His eyes widened, and a sharp grin tugged at his lips. Through his violet eye, he saw it — a small Man Faced Demon Spider, its form was unusually compact, the body was barely three meters across. It crept low to the ground, eight blade-like lance tucked close to its frame, its bright purple-golden carapace glinting in the afternoon light.
Tang Yin knew exactly what it was.
The Man Faced Demon Spider Emperor — the very same rare beast Tang San had hunted in the original story to obtain his soul ring for the Clear Sky Hammer. Now, its only purpose would be to become nutrients for his Eight Spider Lance external bone.
Tang Yin guided the girls toward the beast and soon stood before it — a creature over 60,000 years old. The Spider, seeing its prey appear, immediately let out a shrill, excited screech.
The pressure emanating from Tang Yin and the others, by comparison, was barely Soul douluo level. Naturally, the spider preferred toying with creatures weaker than itself.
After all, it could even fight a titled Douluo.
"Tang Yin! This is bad! We should escape — hurry!" Tang Yuehua shouted, panic lacing her voice. "This soul beast is a Man Faced Demon Spider Emperor more than 50,000 years!"
The others, however, didn't react with alarm.
"Don't you have faith in me, Yuehua?" Tang Yin said, laughing boisterously. "You probably haven't seen me in action yet. Let me show you my strength and break your cognition today! Hahaha."
They girls knew Tang yin wouldn't appear so confident in front of a strong beast unless he was absolutely certain of victory. They simply gave Yuehua reassuring glances, helping to calm her nerves.
"Sister Yuehua, calm down first," Erlong said. "Let's just see how Tang yin defeats this beast to a pulp. Although he is only a Soul Emperor but he can even defeat a soul saint like me with ease so don't worry."
Everyone nodded in agreement as they have never seen him struggle against anyone. So they had already regarded him undefeatable by convential means.
Back to the standoff —
The Man Faced Demon Spider Emperor glared at Tang Yin, sensing only one target bold enough to face it alone. Something was off about these "weak foods," but it couldn't pinpoint what exactly.
Tang Yin's violet eyes narrowed as a strand of Blue Silver Emperor materialized before his right hand—Blue Silver Emperor Release.
With a deafening screech, it lunged, jagged fangs aimed straight at him, legs arcing as it speeded towards the weak food dumb enough to fight itself head on.
Tang Yin shouted as his Fifth and Sixth soul rings flared to life. Two rings—one back, one red—blazed simultaneously:
"Fifth Soul Skill—Emperor's Boost!"
"Sixth Soul Skill—Anchor of Extinction!"
In Tang Yin's hands, a Blue Silver Emperor spear condensed, its sharpness & toughness magnified eightfold, imbued with the Life-Devouring attribute. With the boost skill, the weapon felt heavier yet unnervingly resilient, thrumming with raw power, poised to unleash itself upon the beast.
"Let's dance" Tang yin said with excitement.
The Man-Faced Demon Spider Emperor froze for a heartbeat, caught off guard by the aura of the red soul ring circling Tang Yin. Then, eyes widening, it recognized the threat—and fear turned to deadly seriousness.
It struck with its legs, aiming precisely for his head, but Tang Yin met the attack with his spear, absorbing the kinetic impact.
He skidded to a halt, then gripped the spear even tighter and released his Spirit Body.
"Spirit Body—Released," he whispered, his form glowing as blue rune covered his entire body. Every fiber of his being—strength, speed reflexes, martial instincts—were synchronized to perfection.
Tang Yin drove the spear into the beast. The spider let out a shrill, pained cry as the weapon pierced its hide slightly before rebounding.
Shrill—
In a deadly twist, it lunged with its own razor-sharp lance. Tang Yin was blown away like a kite, thrashing into a tree. The spider didn't stop, relentlessly using its two front legs to strike, sending him flying over and over again.
Tang Yin tanked the attacks effortlessly.
They caused him no harm—instead, each strike fueled him with more and more kinetic energy, charging himself up for a comeback.
"Tang Yin—!" Tang Yuehua cried in panic, tears welling up as she watched the beast relentlessly thrash her lover.
Noticing her worry, Tang Yin let out a small sigh. With a graceful flip, he landed firmly on his feet, then gave her a reassuring smile and waved at the girls, signaling that he was intact and perfectly fine.
Yuehua froze, her tears halting mid-stream, when she noticed something strange—there wasn't a single scratch on his body, not a drop of blood from all the beating.
It was uncanny, yet a wave of relief washed over her as she realized he had emerged completely unscathed from the one-sided assault. Her worry was truly unnecessary.
The Man-Faced Demon Spider Emperor saw the prey untouched by all its beating and raged anew, ready to punish it until it could fight no more. It lunged at Tang yin once again—but he effortlessly dodged using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track.
SWOOSH—
Leaving a ghostlike trail behind him, Tang Yin leapt onto the beast's back and plunged his spear deep into its stomach. The Man Faced Demon spider Emperor shrieked, flipping through the air in a somersault to strike Tang Yin, who now stood behind it.
But Tang Yin activated his telekinesis, propelling himself into the sky. The spear remained lodged in the beast, corroding its flesh rapidly with the Life devouring trait.
"Not good," Tang Yin muttered, letting the spear dissolve instantly. If the beast corrodes, who will I cry to? He still needed its External Bone to evolve the Eight Spider Lance.
Feeling the corrosion stop, the spider froze, warily backing away from this unpredictable prey before attempting to escape.
"Want to run?" Tang Yin sneered, using his telepathy to stoke its fighting intent. He had to steel his will now, while he was still weak—so that when his strength surged in the future, no pressure could faze him.
The Spider Emperor's fighting intent surged once more. Claws flashing, venom dripping, it struck—but Tang Yin met the attack head-on with his fists charged.
With a single step, he shifted his weight, letting his momentum redirect the strike's force back into the creature while converting the energy he absorbed. Bones cracked under the impact—not his, but the spider's.
The Spider Emperor screeched in shock.
Tang Yin closed the distance in an instant. His fists glowed with the kinetic energy he had built, each strike landing with the crushing weight of a mountain. Its legs buckled under the relentless barrage, carapace rattling with every blow.
Tang yin gained and released the kinetic force with each strike, forming a seamless, endless cycle. With Energy Absorption sustaining him, he could fight for weeks without feeling fatigue.
It lunged again, teeth snapping, but Tang Yin caught its jagged fangs between his hands in a feat of raw strength, yanking the head aside and twisting it violently. The spider thrashed, but he adapted instinctively, his Body Spirit predicting every desperate movement.
One brutal uppercut sent the spider reeling back. Another punch, imbued with soul power, smashed into its carapace, cracking the dull golden shell. Tang Yin's strikes didn't just hit — they shattered the inside, each blow precise and devastating.
The beast struggled, claws raking the air, but it was clear: no matter how it moved, Tang Yin controlled the tempo of the battle.
The Body Spirit, combined with his energy absorption, made him even stronger, and his endurance far surpassed anything the spider could comprehend..
Finally, a crushing punch—his clenched fist radiating sheer, devastating force—smashed into the creature's face, hurling it down a road of no return, utterly defeated.
It struggled weakly for a moment, then fell still.
Tang Yin stepped forward, eyes scanning the fallen beast. "Quite a decent punching bag," he muttered. 'Exactly what I needed to test my fighting style. Once I gain the Clear Sky Clan's ring-breaking technique and their secret art, I'll create my own self-developed skills.'
Tang Yin grinned smugly at Yuehua "And that, my love, is why you should never doubt me."
The others watched in awe. Tang Yuehua whispered, trembling, "I… I've never seen anyone fight like this before too brutal and somehow captivating at the same time."
Tang Yin smirked, pleased with her reaction, and shifted his gaze to the beast's carcass. Releasing his Eight Spider Lances, he focused on the black soul ring hovering above the dead corpse. Reaching out, he began absorbing the soul power and channeled it directly into his External Bone.
The Eight Spider Lance surged with energy, its color shifting from blood red to deep crimson streaked with golden lines. Its edges gleamed sharper, its structure tougher, its age had now surpassed 90,000 years.
The lances were sharper and stronger than ever—but the most remarkable change was the power amplification: their overall boost had leapt from 100% to 150%.
Afterwards, Tang Yin used Telepathy to scan the dead carcass for his lingering fortune—and luck was on his side. Hidden within was an external soul bone, identical to his own, from the lineage of the Man-Faced Demon Spider.
The same one that Tang san fused with his own Eight Spider Lance in the original novel.
This was great news. His Eight Spider Lances could evolve further, becoming even stronger by absorbing the soul bone. Without a shred of hesitation, he plunged them into the Spider Emperor's carcass, initiating the absorption.
"I'm certain the fusion will succeed. Both of these bones share the same soul beast origin and compatible abilities. Without such rare compatibility, such a merger could easily fail—or even destroy one of the bones entirely." Tang yin thought to himself with anticipation.
His reasoning had been correct—
The Eight Spider Lances shuddered, their age jumping from 90,000 years to a 100,000 years, and then the evolution truly began.
Crimson light streaked with gold along each lances as they surged from his back. Pain shot through Tang Yin as the Eight Spider Lances, already fused to his body, began reshaping themselves. Muscles strained, bones ached, and nerves screamed as the lances began to twist and elongate.
"AAH!" He screamed as the pain came at once
The lance stretched, morphed, and spread outward, forming sharp, crystalline wings. Each edge caught the sunlight, glinting with dangerous brilliance, while the crimson-gold glow pulsed in rhythm with his heartbeat.
The pain didn't last long. Tang Yin's passive healing factor worked quickly, knitting strained muscles and easing the sharp agony until only the pressure of the transformation remained.
Tang Yin flexed them once, feeling raw power surge through him. The fusion was complete. Pain ebbed entirely, replaced by strength.
The lances were no longer just weapons—they were part of him, alive, fused, and responsive to his will. Since his body was his martial soul, the newly evolved Eight Spider Wings, now perfectly fused to him, had effectively become a part of his Wuhun as well.
The wings now moved almost on their own, perfectly attuned to his thoughts. He could strike, block, or dart through the air with them, every motion fluid and precise.
Their overall boost had once again leapt from 150% to 200%. Not only did that the devouring trait also increased exponentially with the new evolution.
Woohoo!
As he took to the sky, flying with wings was an entirely different experience than telekinesis. He had never felt such freedom, never felt more unstoppable like this moment.
"Gyrfalcon—release" Xiao Mei shouted.
"Needle-Tailed Swift" Bai chenxian muttered.
"Ultimate Ice phoenix—release" Bing'er flew.
Everyone watched in awe as Tang yin flew in the sky and even Bing'er along with Xiao Mei and Bai chenxian joined him while the others looked up in awe and envy.
After all, everyone had dreamed of soaring through the sky at least once in their lives. Without a flight-type Wuhun, they could only hope to find a flight-type soul bone if they ever wanted to take to the air.
