On the screen—
Amid thunderous cheers, John Walker made his way straight to the specially prepared platform and took a seat beside the host.
"Ladies and gentlemen," the host announced grandly to everyone present and to viewers watching on television, "your new Captain America!"
"Hello, America!"John Walker waved to the crowd in greeting.
"We're delighted to have you here. You must be thrilled—returning to your high school after all this time," the host began the interview.
"John Walker!"
"Oh!"Before Walker could even speak, deafening cheers erupted from the audience.
"John," the host said, "what everyone wants to know most is this—what does it feel like to be Captain America? Do eagles fly over your head wherever you go?"
"Hahaha!" Walker laughed. "Yes! And the national flag waves proudly above me as well."
"How's the tour going? I hear they prepared a grand debut for you."
"It's an immense honor," Walker replied, "but it also shocked me. How did someone like me end up here?"
"Wait—'someone like you'?" the host interrupted. "You're far too modest. Clearly, people don't know your résumé."
The host then began introducing John Walker's background.
"John Walker—the first person in American history to receive three Medals of Honor. He has led classified counterterrorism missions and hostage rescue operations."
"The government studied your body at MIT. In every measurable category—speed, endurance, intelligence—you scored exceptionally well…"
From this introduction, one conclusion became obvious to everyone:
The government's search for a new Captain America did not involve just one candidate.
There must have been many candidates.
They were all subjected to a series of tests, compared and evaluated, before the government finally chose who to 'hire.'
The process was entirely reasonable, and no one found it surprising.
After all, selecting Captain America was no trivial matter.
"That's right—I'm not Tony Stark, and I'm not Dr. Banner," Walker continued on screen.
"I don't have flashy equipment or superhuman strength. But what I do have is courage!" he said confidently under everyone's gaze. "That's something Captain America has always had—and always needed. I'll need all the courage I can muster, because I'm about to shoulder an immense responsibility."
"Did you know Steve Rogers?"
"When Steve returned, I had already been out of West Point for two years. When he became an Avenger, I followed everything he did. I consider him my role model."
"So you always wanted to be a hero?"
"I'm glad that what I do makes people feel safe. Steve Rogers had that ability—he gave me hope. Even though I never met him, I feel like he was my brother."
The footage ended with Walker's interview.
"Well, Rogers," Thor said with a grin as he looked at Captain America, "how do you feel about your successor? Satisfied?"
"There's no question of satisfaction," Captain America replied calmly. "If he was chosen officially, then he's qualified."
"His résumé is impressive," Tony Stark said, "but I'm worried he won't last long."
"Why do you say that, Stark?" Scott Lang asked curiously.
"He's just an ordinary man," Tony replied matter-of-factly. "I'm afraid he'll be overwhelmed."
"He said it himself—he doesn't have my tech or Banner's strength. No matter how outstanding he is, no matter how many Medals of Honor he's earned, he's still flesh and blood. He can never do what Rogers can."
"If he runs into enhanced criminals, how does he deal with them?"
"Bottom line—I'm not optimistic, unless he has some other special ability."
When you think about it, Tony wasn't wrong.
Captain America had taken down countless enhanced criminals. If those same enemies were handed to John Walker, success would be far from guaranteed.
At best, it would be a struggle.
No matter how capable Walker was, the gap between an ordinary human and a super-soldier was not so easily crossed.
"Personally, I'm not really feeling this John Walker version of Captain America," Peter Parker chimed in. "I still prefer Captain Rogers."
"There's no point debating this," Doctor Strange said. "The current Rogers likely won't turn into that white-haired old man anymore. A new Captain America probably won't appear—at least not anytime soon."
"That's hard to say," Tony Stark replied meaningfully.
Indeed, Thanos snapping his fingers and wiping out half of humanity likely wouldn't happen. Time travel might never be invented.
Steve Rogers going back in time to live out half his life wouldn't happen either.
But who could guarantee that Captain America wouldn't meet an untimely end?
Even Captain America could die unexpectedly.
For any reason at all—once Cap died, the government would absolutely choose a successor.
Captain America had become a symbol of America itself. The country had grown used to his presence. America could not exist without a Captain America.
Question: During a mission, Scott Lang and Hank Pym, along with his daughter, are all captured by Ghost (Ava). What method do they use to escape?
A. Scott Lang shrinks down to the size of an ant and escapes successfullyB. Scott Lang's allies arrive in time and rescue themC. Scott Lang persuades Ghost to change her mind and release themD. Hank Pym uses a scheme, releases ants, and turns the tide
Hint: Answer correctly to obtain the skill "Heavenly Dao: Shinra Tensei."Answer incorrectly, and one of your attributes will be randomly deducted—including but not limited to knowledge, experience, skills, possessions, etc.
Just as the discussion was heating up, the system's prompt sounded again, cutting everyone off.
A new question had appeared.
"From the previous question, we know Ghost attacked Hope. Now she's captured Scott and the Pyms too," Thor said with a shrug. "Looks like she's got a personal grudge against the whole family."
"That's not surprising," Captain America said calmly. "Her goal in attacking Hope was that lab capable of entering the Quantum Realm. Capturing Hank Pym is only logical."
Entering the Quantum Realm wasn't like going to the movies—it wasn't something just anyone could do.
First steal the equipment, then capture the technician. Perfectly reasonable.
Of course, Ghost Ava's true purpose was still unclear.
All they knew was that she needed the lab. What she wanted to do with it was unknown.
The Quantum Realm was merely an educated guess.
But regardless of her goal, Hank Pym was essential.
As for Scott Lang?
Bad luck. He was dragged in because of Hank.
From the previous footage, it was obvious Ghost's real target wasn't Scott at all.
"This is such a headache," Scott muttered bitterly. "After the last question, I asked Hank about Ghost, but he'd never even heard of her."
"About that," Captain America said solemnly, "I actually found some information. Honestly… she's pitiful."
"Really? You found out who Ghost is?" Scott asked in surprise.
Ghost was completely covered in white armor, her face concealed. Even the name Ava lacked a surname—no one even knew if it was real.
No face, no full name, just a codename.
And yet Captain America had uncovered her identity?
Impressive.
"Captain, who exactly is Ghost?" Peter Parker asked curiously.
"She's actually… a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent," Captain America answered after a brief pause.
"A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent? Wow, that's unexpected," Strange said in surprise.
Everyone else was equally caught off guard.
"Ghost's real name is Ava Starr. She's the daughter of former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Elihas Starr. He once worked with Hank Pym in the same lab, researching quantum physics."
"Later, Hank expelled Elihas from the lab. Unwilling to accept it, Elihas continued his quantum research in secret—but an accident occurred."
"The lab exploded. Elihas and his wife died instantly. But the energy released altered Ava's body, turning her into this… 'quantum phasing' state."
"Quantum phasing?" Thor asked, completely lost.
Everyone else was just as confused.
"Quantum phasing means the ability to shift between different material states," Tony Stark explained immediately.
"Come on, people—am I the only one who did homework? After all these quizzes, am I really the only one who bothered learning quantum physics?"
Tony stared at them indignantly.
Everyone could only shrug and respond with awkward smiles.
Tony Stark—there was only one.
"What happened next?" Scott asked eagerly.
"Ava was taken in by S.H.I.E.L.D. They studied her and trained her into a Ghost operative—a ruthless assassin," Captain America said heavily.
After a pause, he added, "No—more precisely, Hydra. But now Ava is under our control. She no longer needs to keep killing."
After hearing this, everyone felt the same way—Ghost truly was a tragic figure.
"So her condition was caused by quantum physics," Strange said thoughtfully. "That's why she wants the lab, right?"
"Absolutely," Tony said firmly. "Quantum phasing may look cool, but for a human, it's torture. Every phase shift is like tearing your body apart."
"She wants to cure herself."
With that realization, everyone felt even more sympathy for Ghost Ava.
"Alright, everyone," Captain America said, glancing around, "we'll discuss Ava after the quiz. Let's focus on answering first."
They gathered their thoughts and turned their attention to the screen.
"Option A can be ruled out," Scott said immediately. "Ghost has fought Hope and me before. She knows we can shrink—she'd be prepared."
"Agreed," Peter nodded firmly. "In the last footage, Ghost and Hope had never met before."
"So this capture definitely happened after that encounter. She'd be ready."
Option A was eliminated without question.
Next was Option B.
"I don't think B is likely either," Strange said from his hospital bed.
"If I remember correctly, Scott was under house arrest at the time. Hank and Hope were fugitives."
"He even helped Hope fight Ghost while technically still a criminal."
