Chapter 238 - Thor: I Actually Got Smashed by Hulk?!

"Sakaar? Hulk?"

Tony Stark glanced at the latest question on the big screen and couldn't help blurting out in surprise.

The background of this question was already clear—it was something that happened on Sakaar. Everyone was curious: how did Hulk end up on Sakaar?

"Sakaar?" Dr. Banner was also a bit dumbfounded. "So, in the future, I not only go to Asgard but also to other planets?"

So that means… in the future, am I just wandering around the universe?

Come on, I'm a low-key scientist! I just want to live a quiet life in peace—how did I end up running all over the galaxy?

Banner felt like his life had gone completely off the rails.

"Thor also went to Sakaar and fought Hulk in an arena? What on earth happens in the future?" Captain America was equally baffled, totally lost.

He couldn't figure out what kind of nonsense these two got up to in the future.

Why would they randomly go to another planet just to fight? Was the future not chaotic enough already? Were these two just bored out of their minds?

"Sakaar?"

Star-Lord suddenly perked up, recognizing the name. "That's the cosmic junkyard! Tons of planets dump their garbage there. They exile criminals there too—it's one of the most chaotic planets in the universe."

Hearing that made everyone even more curious. On such a dump of a planet, why would Thor and Hulk go there?

To pick up trash?

"Sakaar's surrounded by countless known and unknown wormholes and space tunnels," Star-Lord continued explaining. "If you're not careful, you can get sucked right in."

"So you're saying some people just accidentally fall in there?"

"Exactly."

"Then maybe that's what happens to me in the future?" Banner guessed. It was the only logical reason he could think of for why he'd end up on a garbage planet.

But whether Hulk and Thor were accidentally sucked in or went there intentionally—nobody could be sure.

Both possibilities existed.

"If it really is you, the Grandmaster will definitely love you," Star-Lord told Banner, then turned his head and glanced at Thor. "You too. The Grandmaster would love both of you. You'd probably become his star gladiators."

"The Grandmaster? Who's that?" Thor asked curiously.

"The ruler of Sakaar," Star-Lord explained. "Sakaar's basically a gathering place for all kinds of cosmic thugs and criminals. It's chaotic—no order, just killing and fighting every day. So the Grandmaster came up with a way to channel all that violent energy: arena combat."

"That's the most popular sport on Sakaar—famous even across the universe."

"The strongest criminals on Sakaar eventually end up in the Grandmaster's hands, becoming his gladiators."

Thanks to Star-Lord's explanation, everyone now had a rough understanding of what kind of place Sakaar was.

"So, Star-Lord, what you're saying is… Thor and I might've been captured and forced to fight as gladiators?" Banner asked.

"That's exactly how Sakaar's arenas work!" Star-Lord shrugged. "Unless you're one of those lunatics who volunteer for the thrill of killing, most gladiators are forced to fight."

"That's impossible." Thor immediately shook his head. "How could I be captured and forced to fight? Even if I don't yet understand what's going on, there must be another reason."

No one argued. Without any solid information, they couldn't make solid judgments.

"But… I am curious who won between me and Hulk," Thor said with clear interest. "If it's Hulk, he should be able to last a while against me. His strength's not bad."

"Thor, honestly, I don't think you'd necessarily win against Hulk," Tony said dryly, splashing cold water on his confidence.

Sure, Thor was strong—but Hulk was a walking apocalypse.

If those two actually fought, it'd be hard to say who'd come out on top.

"Guys, let's not focus on why they're fighting on Sakaar right now," Captain America interrupted. "Let's just analyze the question."

Everyone stopped chatting and turned their focus back to the problem.

"Option C—Thor sings a lullaby. I think we can eliminate that," Cap said after skimming through the options. "We already know that the lullaby only works when Natasha sings it."

They'd encountered a similar question before. It was confirmed: only Natasha's lullaby could calm Hulk—no doubt about it.

"Wait, why is it that only Natasha's lullaby works?" Star-Lord asked, curious.

Thor grinned and told him all about Banner's little entanglement with Black Widow.

Star-Lord finally understood, but then asked, "Well, is it possible there's another lullaby? Maybe the 'Sun's getting real low' one only works for Natasha, but Thor sings a different one?"

A fair point, actually.

Given that the future showed the method working once, maybe others tried to replicate it.

"No, I don't think that's likely," Tony said after thinking it over. "We've already analyzed this before—the lullaby works because only Natasha can reach the positive emotions buried deep inside Banner. The key isn't the song, it's the person."

"Exactly," Cap agreed. "It's about the emotional bond between them. Natasha can reach Hulk because she has that bond. But Thor?"

At that, Cap gave Thor a meaningful look.

"I can't!" Thor quickly waved his hands. "And I don't think I could ever wake Hulk up, okay? Steve, don't look at me like that—as if there's something between me and Banner!"

"Thor, I'm just analyzing," Cap said seriously. "It's clearly impossible for you and Banner to have that emotional connection. So, I agree with Tony."

After discussion, they ruled out the possibility that Thor could sing another lullaby to calm Hulk.

Option C—eliminated.

"Guys, no need to overthink it. The answer is clearly A!" Thor declared confidently.

"No offense to Banner—and I totally respect Hulk's power, he's strong, I admit that—but who am I?"

"You're the son of Odin, god of Asgard," Tony said flatly, clearly unimpressed.

"Exactly! But that's not the point. The point is—I'm the mightiest warrior in the universe! Even Hulk couldn't defeat me! No doubt—the answer's A!" Thor said proudly.

The others, however, were much calmer.

"Thor beating Hulk is possible," Tony said. "But Hulk beating Thor is also possible. So, option A—undecided."

"Agreed," Banner nodded.

Strange, Star-Lord, and the rest echoed in agreement.

Thor was promptly ignored.

"So, what about option B?"

Star-Lord looked at the next one. "Thor gets smashed by Hulk? And it says 'smashed like Loki was smashed'? Wait—Hulk smashed Loki? Who's Loki?"

"He's Thor's brother," Strange explained.

"Thor has a brother?" Star-Lord was surprised. Then he grinned. "Well, if the little brother got smashed, it's not that weird if the big brother does too."

"Of course it's weird!" Thor yelled indignantly. "Loki's way weaker than me, okay? This option's absurd! Impossible!"

Sure, Hulk smashing Loki made sense—Loki wasn't a close-combat type.But Thor?Even Hulk couldn't possibly overpower him!

Ridiculous.

"Let's keep B as undecided too," Tony said, ignoring Thor again. "Both Hulk and Thor are insanely strong. We really can't say for sure who'd win."

"Whether Thor wins or Hulk wins—both are possible outcomes."

For once, Strange and Star-Lord didn't have much to add—the veterans clearly knew what they were talking about.

They'd been doing these quiz challenges long enough, and both in the system and in real life, they'd witnessed how powerful Hulk and Thor really were.

These two were absolutely on the same level.

Unless they actually fought in front of everyone, no one could tell who was stronger.

So, option B—undecided. Thor's opinion—completely ignored again.

Now only the final option remained: Thor suppresses Hulk with his hammer.

Honestly, that one sounded pretty plausible.

Even back when they first encountered Hulk, they'd temporarily managed to pin him down together using similar tactics.

Even Thor himself couldn't really find anything wrong with that possibility.

"So option D might be possible?" Strange asked, glancing around.

"No—we're overlooking something," Tony suddenly said, as if remembering an important detail.

"Just like Hulk has two modes—rational and rage—Thor actually has two versions too: hammer Thor and no-hammer Thor!"

"We all know that after Hela appeared, she crushed Thor's hammer. We have to consider that factor."

"Tony's right," Banner agreed immediately.

If Tony hadn't brought it up, everyone would've forgotten—Thor didn't always have his hammer.

And that difference could completely change the outcome.

If Thor didn't have Mjolnir, option D was instantly ruled out.

"Good point," Cap nodded. "Before analyzing further, we really should figure out whether Thor still had his hammer."

It was an important detail—because everyone knew that Thor's strength dropped drastically without it.

That could directly affect their answer.

But after some thought, they realized there wasn't any clear clue or intel to confirm it.

So they had to rely on deduction.

"I think it's more likely that Thor didn't have his hammer," Banner said. "Star-Lord mentioned how the arena works—if Thor lost his hammer, that would make sense."

"Without Mjolnir, Thor's power would be greatly reduced. That would explain how he ended up captured by the Grandmaster and thrown into the arena."

From that angle, Banner's reasoning made sense.

After all, Sakaar didn't sound like a particularly powerful planet.

I mean—what kind of powerful civilization turns its planet into the galaxy's landfill?A dumping ground for criminals?

And Thor?

He was among the absolute top-tier beings in the universe. How could someone like that be captured and forced to fight?

That only made sense if he'd lost his hammer.

Otherwise, the only other explanation was that Thor chose to fight in the arena for fun—which was… highly unlikely.

After everyone's discussion, they all basically agreed with Banner's logic: Thor probably didn't have his hammer at that time.

That made everything fit.

"Fine, that actually makes sense," Thor admitted reluctantly—unable to argue.

But if that was true… then the answer became much more interesting.

A hammer-less Thor?

None of them thought he could beat Hulk like that.

So the most likely answer was clear—Thor got smashed by Hulk.
