Chapter 1 - the small window

As I continue to stare into the vast meadow through my tiny window, a certain movement catches my eye. This meadow has always been lively—full of creatures, small and big. This movement, however, feels different. It goes slow—then fast—then it stops.

"What an odd creature," I think. "Very unpredictable."

The medium-tall grass doesn't allow for much vision. Up until—

"Ow!" a female voice cries out.

I blink. She must've fallen into one of my traps. How funny–falling for that very obvious leaf trap. She must not be from around here.

But she doesn't panic. She brushes herself off and continues on as if nothing happened. Then she starts humming. Humming!

"What a happy-go-lucky..." I think, stunned.

She skips through the meadow, pausing to smell flowers, picking berries, and humming her own tune. The wind seems to dance with her.

Now that she's closer, I can see her more clearly:

A velvety soft gray robe sways gently over sleek, knee-high boots. Beneath, a splash of color—bright and warm. Her hair, black as night, is tied into a long braid that brushes her waist. Her skin glimmers under the sunlight, and her face…

Oh goodness. That face.

Angel-soft. The kind that makes you want to protect it. The kind that couldn't hurt a soul—but the kind you'd never want to see cry.

She gathers her final berries, turns on her heel, and whistles.

The wind answers.

It whirls around her, swift and steady, then lifts her gently into the air. She vanishes beyond the hills in seconds.

I lean closer to the window, heart racing.

Not everyone in Aladia can control the wind like that. Even I need deep focus, strong will. But she does it effortlessly.

Who is she?

Who is that girl?
