Chapter 72
Amelia's POV
I followed Fountain closely, trailing behind her. She led me through the darkest part of the mansion, walking past corners and corridors.
How did she know so much of the places in the mansion?
I have been here for months now and I didn't even have an idea of the places she was taking me to.
We got to a black framed door and Fountain halted, I stopped too waiting to receive orders from her.
"Don't scream, the place is too dark and we have to go through a tunnel." She said and I hesitated for some seconds before nodding.
If Alessandro finds out about this then I'm doomed!
She unlocked the door with a key and pulled my wrist, dragging me in and shutting the door.
She tapped a button and the walls parted into two, revealing an hidden tunnel.
Fountain put away the plank they was covering the tunnel and turned to look at me.
"I've told you this would be scary but the truth doesn't come with spices, does it?" Her face flashed with anger but it vanished the next minute before I could think of anything.
"D..do you think this is...right?"
She sighed, rubbing her temple. "do you want to turn back? I'd just tell Ms. Manhattan you don't want to see her."
"N...no, no. I'll do as you say."
"Come on." She snapped her fingers and we continued our journey on the quest for truth.
Fountain lit the torch as we went through the tunnel. It was too scary and it took all the strength in me not to scream out.
Some minutes later we were out of the tunnel and it led to a dark place which seemed like a forest.
But not so thick.
"Where's this place?" I asked, cringing as I looked around.
"You ask too many questions." Fountain scoffed and I gave her an apologetic smile. "This path leads to a tarred road and from there a car would take us to see Ms. Manhattan."
I asked no more questions and that way, we got to the tarred road on time.
Just in time, a black car halted before us and Fountain pushed me in before entering too.
I took a glance at her, fidgeting with the hem of my shirt. Why did she look so desperate and something seemed to have changed about her too?
She no longer looked nice but scary.
",is the blindfold really necessary?" I asked as she took a black piece of cloth from the driver.
"Don't be such a blabbermouth, Amelia." She scolded, her eyes glistering with so much frustration. "The truth doesn't come with spices as I've said. Just be a good girl." A sly smile grew up her lips but she managed to keep it neutral.
"Move, Xavier." She tapped the driver's headrest and he nodded before the engine roared to life.
My heart thudded loudly in my chest as the car halted and Fountain led me out of the car.
She took off the blindfold after we got into a room. It was all dark and it gave me the chills.
I just hoped I was doing the right thing. Did I trust the right person?
"Where is this place?" Even though Fountain has warned against asking questions, I felt this one was necessary to ask about.
"No questions, have you seat." She pointed at a metal chair and I gulped nervously before sitting.
"Engineer." Her face beaned with a smile when a tall man walked in. He had an intimidating figure and he just wouldn't stop smoking the cigar in his hand.
I couldn't see him clearly since he had a hat on.
"You're back, Poppy." The man grinned, an evil grin. He walked closer to me in slow strides, keeping the devilish grin on his face.
I guess I'm in trouble!
Didn't she say her name was Fountain? Why did the man address her as Poppy??
Fountain pulled off the veil that was covering her face and there stood, a red haired woman with a lot of tattoos on her face.
She looked even more scary than earlier. Dangerous too.
"How are you doing, amoretto?" The man squatted in front of me, his thumb grazing my chin. His touch sent shivers down my spine, not because I was falling but because of fear.
I slapped his hands off, moving away from him instinctively.
"Who are y….you?" My voice trembled as I inquired. "Didn't you say we were meeting Mrs Manhattan? Why the hell is she not here?!" I demanded, yelling at Fountain who simply chuckled before binding my hands to the chair.
"Uh? W...what are you doing?" I shook vigorously on the chair, trying to free myself but it ended futile.
Why did I feel I could let go of the chains? I have tried this a lot of times when Alessandro used to tie me down and just like now, it had never worked.
"Amoretto." The man called again and something about his voice seemed familiar but I just couldn't remember who he really was. "I like it that you're here. Thought your master would keep you from me forever but...tsk tsk, you fell for the stunt. Unfortunately, there's no Ms. Manhattan here. This is Russo — the engineer of plans."
My mouth hung in surprise when he took off his hat.
"Y...you?" My lips quavered. This was the same man I had seen at the Exhibition a few days ago. "Why did you kidnap me??"
Russo stood straight, folding his arms behind his back. "Nothing much, little meadow. Don't you want to know the truth anymore? Oh how you forget things easily…" he replied, pulling the cigar away and crushing it under his feet.
"T….the truth… what do you know?"
He looked at Fountain and they bursted into fits of laughter.
"What's funny?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes at them.
They exchanged looks again before Russo moved closer and grabbed my neck roughly.
"Let...go…" I struggled, almost choking to death. His grip was tight.
"The truth doesn't come with spices, you know."
Why did I feel like I've heard that before?
Fuck! Those were Fountain's words.
Now I knew I have taken the wrong step. The reason why Alessandro wanted me to stay away from Russo was now known to me.
He was dangerous and deadly. Maybe I should've listened to him.
Maybe I should've been less desperate and I wouldn't have gotten myself in trouble.
Did Russo even know anything about me? What truth did he keep talking about?
Or was he just saying that just to keep me on my toes?
"Why don't we start with some blowjob, meadow?" His words pierced through my ears like needle. "I will fuck you so mercilessly and send the videos to that brat!"
"Y...you will do no such thing!" I screamed as soon as he released my throat. "Alessandro would kill you if you dare."
Laughters from he and Fountain followed. Hell, I can't believe I actually let this bitch fool me.
She knew too well how to switch personalities.
"Why don't I do it first and see what Alessandro would do, amore mio?" He raised his brows, eyeing me with contempt. He turned to Fountain, snapping his fingers. "Are the cameras ready?"
