The Hollow fought them for what felt like eternities, trying to negate their existence with every step. But slowly, agonizingly, Selena and Dante pushed through the void of absolute absence, carrying their sphere of golden-crimson light deeper into the negation. And then, without warning, they broke through.
They stumbled forward into sudden reality, gasping as if surfacing from drowning, and found themselves standing on the edge of something impossible.
A world. But not the world they had left behind.
Selena steadied herself, her flames flickering wildly as they adjusted to having substance again, to existing in a place where reality actually functioned. She looked around, trying to make sense of what she was seeing, and felt her breath catch in her throat.
