Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: A Complex Case

Yide pushed open the door and entered Neuvillette's office.

Hearing the sound of the door, Neuvillette immediately stopped his busy work and looked up at the extraordinary visitor, his eyes involuntarily showing admiration.

In the long five hundred years, he had seen countless talents from Fontaine.

Among these shining stars, Yide was undoubtedly the most amazing one.

"Yide, I have a case I would like to entrust to you."

As he spoke, Neuvillette pushed the thick stack of documents on his desk in front of Yide.

Yide glanced down at the cover of the documents, and the words "Serial Disappearance of Young Girls" caught his eye.

"So it's this case." He smiled softly. "Chief Justice Neuvillette, you probably know the inside story."

Neuvillette was stunned upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he tentatively asked, "What do you mean?"

Yide nodded and replied in a deep voice, "All will dissolve in the water, and only the Hydro Archon weeps on her throne."

Neuvillette gave him a deep look, saying meaningfully, "Yide, you are indeed no ordinary person."

He didn't dwell on the topic, but quickly brought his thoughts back to the case itself: "These girls should have dissolved in the Primordial Sea, but why would the culprit do this?"

Yide calmly raised a finger and replied succinctly, "Experiment."

Neuvillette instantly understood his meaning, "Someone wants to restore the people dissolved in the Primordial Sea, but to prevent their experiment from harming the subjects they want to restore.

So, they keep making samples to use for their experiments."

"Exactly." Yide affirmed his guess.

Anger instantly ignited in Neuvillette's heart, and he suddenly punched the desk, causing the documents on it to jump, "Absolutely outrageous!"

After a long while, Neuvillette gradually calmed his anger. He turned to Yide and said solemnly, "It seems that entrusting you to investigate this case was the right decision."

Yide was not in a hurry to express his position, but took the opportunity to put forward his request: "If this case can be successfully solved, I hope that all criminal cases in Fontaine will be handled by our West Factory from now on, and the Marechaussee Phantom will no longer intervene."

Neuvillette pondered for a moment, then replied seriously, "As long as your West Factory can successfully solve this difficult case, I will agree to your proposal."

"It's a deal." Yide nodded, indicating his acceptance of the condition.

Then, he picked up the thick stack of documents on the desk and prepared to leave the office.

Although he already knew that the real culprit was Vacher, he also knew that finding Vacher would not be easy.

Moreover, there were some obvious doubts in one or two of the missing girl cases.

For example, the disappearance of the girl Linsey a few days ago was different from other cases.

Yide decided to go back and study these documents carefully to see if he could find more clues.

As he stepped out of the solemn gate of the Palais Mermonia, he happened to meet Furina, who had just finished watching the opera.

Furina's eyes fell on the heavy documents Yide was holding tightly, and curiosity prompted her to step forward and ask softly, "Yide, what are those you're holding?"

Yide replied, "These are the case files for the serial disappearance of young girls. Neuvillette has entrusted the West Factory to investigate the case."

Hearing this, Furina's eyes lit up. She had been paying attention to this case for a long time, and now she couldn't help but share her insights: "I've always had a bold guess about this confusing case."

"Oh?" Yide raised an eyebrow, showing great interest. "I'm all ears."

Furina cleared her throat and then, in her unique exaggerated and infectious tone, began to narrate: "I suspect that the mastermind behind all this may be a secret and evil cult organization.

They carefully planned the disappearances of these girls, and their purpose is likely to be to use them as sacrifices to offer to the evil god they believe in, in exchange for evil power, or even the secret of eternal life."

After listening to Furina's guess, Yide expressionlessly exposed her, "You got these plots from novels, didn't you?"

Furina was caught, speechless for a moment, her cheeks slightly flushed.

She retorted unwillingly, "Who said that? This is clearly my reasonable speculation based on the clues of the case.

At most, I just borrowed a little bit.

I dare say, this is definitely the closest guess to the truth."

Yide couldn't help but complain, "According to you, is this evil god still an incubus, specifically requiring the sacrifices to be young girls?"

Furina nodded thoughtfully, "You have a point, this evil god might be the kind of tentacle monster."

Seeing the topic becoming more and more biased, Yide decided not to entangle with this silly girl with a strange way of thinking.

He quickened his pace, wanting to leave as soon as possible.

"Hey, wait for me!"

Furina looked at his hurried departure, stomped her feet in anger, and quickly chased after him.

After returning to the study, Yide immediately devoted himself to the investigation of the case.

He picked up the detailed file of the recently missing girl Linsey and read it attentively.

Furina was secretly making faces at him from the side.

This hateful guy didn't even praise my ingenious deduction.

Death penalty!

Although she complained in her heart, her eyes were unconsciously attracted to Yide.

She found that when he was working intently, the outline of his profile was particularly clear, as perfect as a sculpture.

Yide was deeply immersed in the thoughts of the case.

The disappearance of the girl Linsey always gave him a very strange feeling.

This case seemed to be related to the serial disappearance of young girls, but there were obvious differences.

He thought for a long time, but he couldn't figure out any clues.

After withdrawing from his complex thoughts, Yide accidentally looked up and found Furina staring at him in a daze, her eyes flashing with inexplicable brilliance.

When Furina realized that he was looking at her, she quickly retracted her gaze like a startled deer, and a faint blush appeared on her cheeks involuntarily.

Yide was gently touched by this scene, he stood up and slowly walked towards Furina.

Furina felt his approach, the unique masculine aura and warmth made her heart beat faster.

She gently closed her eyes, waiting for the moment that was about to come.

A strange emotion filled the air, adding a bit of romance to the study.

However, at this moment, there was a gentle knock on the door.

"Lady Furina, Master Yide, dinner is ready." Old Dirk's voice came from outside the door.

The ambiguous atmosphere instantly dissipated, Yide felt very disappointed, but he had to reply, "Uncle Dirk, we'll be right there."

The scene gradually became awkward, and he naturally wouldn't ask the silly question of whether to continue.
