Chapter 21 - Sullivan

With Bloom sick, they couldn't sit for another painting session for the next few days. Sullivan hardly saw the painter except when she was taking care of Bloom. Even then, whenever she caught sight of him, she would scurry out and not return until she was sure he was gone.

It didn't bother Sullivan much, but he was sure the general household now suspected something had happened between them. Ms. Reid had cast him several looks of disapproval over the past few days. He hadn't even gotten around to actually apologizing to the painter for his actions; he was lucky she didn't sue. Not that it would have affected him if she did.

Sullivan sat in the car, staring at the house, specifically Bloom's window. He was sure the painter would be in there, reading a book out loud or just talking to Bloom. He was also sure that once he entered the room, she'd stand up with a gasp, fake an urgent errand, and leave.
