"Huh, I don't know why, but I'm starting to love this world. I don't have much time to think—I need to take a bath and then go to the market to buy some things I need."

-------------------------

Steam swirled around the room, clinging to the mirrors and walls like ghosts. Auren stood under the cold stream of water, letting it wash away the sweat — and sin — from his skin. The tiles beneath him were wet and warm, the only sound in the bath chamber was the slow drip of water and the echo of his own thoughts.

Selene had been used. Again.

And this time, he didn't hesitate. No guilt. No shaking hands.

Just command... and obedience.

He leaned his head back, water flowing through his hair, eyes closed.

> Father... Caius...

The name burned now. Not just in his memory — but in his blood. His fists clenched as flashes of Lyria's final scream crossed his mind.

> You watched her die. You let her die for pleasure. For power. For her.

He opened his eyes, cold and sharp now.

> I'm coming for you.

---

The sun was already high by the time he made it to the kitchen.

Selene was standing by the stove, dressed modestly, hair tied back, her eyes avoiding his. She had prepared breakfast. The scent of cooked grains and herbs floated in the air. There was a calmness about her — but it wasn't peace.

It was silence... after the storm.

Auren sat down at the table, slowly, like a king taking his throne. His gaze alone felt heavier than words.

"Serve the food," he ordered, tone flat, final.

Selene moved without delay. She brought the plate to him — warm bread, fried root vegetables, and a simple broth. She placed it gently in front of him.

Outside, through the open window, Mira was visible. She was in the garden, hanging wet clothes on the rope, her hair flowing in the morning breeze. She looked free.

She wasn't.

Auren picked up a spoon, started eating. He didn't compliment the food. He didn't need to.

And then, in the same calm tone, he said:

"After I leave… take the wooden handle from under the sink. The round one."

Selene froze.

"Place it inside your pussy. Keep it there until I return."

Her face turned pale.

But she nodded.

"I asked you a question?" he added sharply.

Selene swallowed. "Yes… Master. I will obey."

"Good."

He kept eating, slowly, savoring it now.

"I'm going to the market," he said casually between bites. "I need something for myself."

He wiped his hands, stood up, and extended a hand toward her.

"Give me all the money you have."

She reached inside the drawer, then from her pocket, and placed a small bundle of worn coins in his hand.

"Everything?" he asked.

She nodded, ashamed. "Yes."

Without another word, he turned and walked out of the house. As he stepped outside, the sun hit his face, and the dirt road ahead stretched like a ribbon between the endless fields of vegetables on both sides.

---

As Auren walked further, the breeze brushed against him, warm and earthy, smelling of leaves and water. Birds called out lazily from the trees.

Then—

A shout.

"AUREN!!"

Auren stopped.

The voice cracked with excitement.

He turned.

A boy was running toward him, arms wide, grinning like a madman.

"Auren, how are you, man?! You don't know how much tension I had when I heard about you falling from the roof!" he said, out of breath, "And now… after ten freaking days I see you walking around like nothing happened!"

Auren stared.

For a second, his mind blurred.

Who was this?

Then—

A flash.

Another.

A small memory, like a candle flickering in the dark.

Two boys climbing trees.

Eating roasted potatoes together near a fire.

Running through the forest, barefoot, sticks in their hands like swords.

One standing in front of him… shielding him from bullies.

The name came slowly.

Riven.

His best friend.

His only real friend.

Still standing before him, full of worry and innocence.

"Auren?" Riven stepped closer. "Why aren't you saying anything? You okay, bro?"

Auren blinked.

Then, all at once, emotion hit him.

He reached forward and pulled Riven into a tight hug.

Riven froze for a moment, then laughed. "Hey, whoa—what's this?"

"Thank you," Auren said, voice barely a whisper. "For protecting me. For always being there. It's my turn now. To protect you from everything."

Riven pulled back slowly. "Huh? What's gotten into you, my brother? You sound like a knight from a sad book or something."

Auren smiled faintly, shaking his head. "Nothing. Just... remembering what matters."

He placed a hand on Riven's shoulder. "Let's go. I need to buy something for me. And for you."

"Wait—for me? Are we talking bread? Or a sword?"

"We'll see."

And the two of them walked forward, side by side, down the dusty path between the fields.

Both, still laughing.
