Chapter 140 - The Great Desolate Holy Body

Su Min felt no particular way about the gruesome remains. She was no longer the naive, wide eyed girl who had just transmigrated into this world. She had long since grown numb to such gory sights. Since that guy had openly shown hostility and murderous intent toward her, there was nothing left to discuss. In the world of cultivation, death was the only fitting answer for such an offense.

Honestly, Su Min had not expected the crowd to be quite so proactive, swarming the Wood Madman like a pack of ravenous wolves the moment the bounty was announced. But this worked entirely in her favor, as the competition within the ruins had thinned considerably.

"Let us go. Next stop, the core of the legacy hall," Su Min declared. "Even if we do not plan to claim the main inheritance, there might still be unexpected gains or side treasures."

"Good." Xie Yingying's response was terse. She remained largely silent; this fire attribute secret realm offered her, a Lunar Sovereign Body, little in terms of tangible improvement. As they walked, Su Min casually tossed the leftover… parts… into her Qiankun Gourd. For the gourd to rank up significantly, it ideally needed the remains of a Nascent Soul stage demonic beast, something even the resource rich Golden Core Great Dao could not provide.

There was no point in rushing its evolution, but feeding it these high grade scraps was better than nothing. However, as the gourd absorbed the spiritual energy from the remains, it suddenly shuddered violently, as if protesting the taste of "leftovers" after a steady diet of pristine demonic beast cores. Su Min could only shrug helplessly at its finicky nature. But the moment she took another step forward, she froze. So did Xie Yingying. At that instant, their heightened spiritual senses tingled in unison, they sensed that someone had already triggered the main legacy inheritance.

"I was busy collecting the Five Elements Flags, those guys were busy slaughtering each other for a chance at fourth grade pills, and now someone else has swooped in to quietly claim the grand prize."

Su Min smirked, more amused than annoyed. True legacies could not be stolen; either you were worthy and met the conditions, or you were not. And with the full set of Five Elements Flags now in hand, she already held the key to the true legacy she sought, that of the Five Elements Holy Body. But a cultivator's capacity for absorbing different legacies and profound techniques was limited. She did not even dare to fully accept and integrate her Heavenly Dao Insight talent yet, lest her body and soul explode from the informational overload. So this Mahayana stage fire legacy was ultimately useless to her. Xie Yingying was in the same boat, as her pure Yin Lunar Sovereign Body could not accommodate a powerful Yang fire based inheritance. Thus, neither of them cared much about who claimed it.

But still...

"Damn, this still feels like a loss, like someone took a treasure from under my nose," Su Min grumbled. "Let us at least see who got it. Either way, we are squeezing some profit or compensation out of this situation."

"..."

Xie Yingying could only sigh inwardly at Su Min's blatant, almost merchant like greed. When they had first met, Su Min had been cautious and reserved, partly because of her own hidden grudge. Now? She was completely unrestrained, showing her true, calculating colors. Of course, Xie Yingying did not realize that back then, Su Min had been wary of her. Now, with their alliance solidified, there was no need for such pretenses.

The two rushed forward, only stopping briefly to grab any conspicuously valuable herbs or ores they passed. Legacy inheritance was not an instantaneous process. Su Min herself had spent a full decade just to secure and begin refining the Azure Dragon's legacy, after all. Others would not need to refine a Heavenly Divine Object as part of the process, so it would likely take at least a full day, during which the inheritor would be vulnerable and need protection.

By the time Su Min and Xie Yingying arrived at the grand legacy hall at a leisurely pace, tensions were already at a boiling point. Su Min just wanted to see the situation and perhaps extort some benefits, but others present were desperate. This was, after all, a Mahayana stage cultivator's ruin.

Yet now, the entire crowd was blocked by a single, solitary figure standing guard at the entrance to the inner chambers. Su Min blinked in genuine surprise. The young man standing there, one man against an army, was not someone she recognized.

He looked no older than twenty, his face still carrying a hint of youthful roundness. But that was not what stunned Su Min and Xie Yingying into momentary silence. It was his aura. To their refined senses, he felt less like a person and more like an ancient, primordial force that had crossed through time itself, a contained power that promised utter devastation.

"The Great Desolate Holy Body… To think I would encounter it here, in this era," Xie Yingying murmured, her mind reeling. "A physique that is said to appear only once in ten thousand years, and now, three such legendary physiques stand in this very hall."

Her thoughts raced. If only a Solar Sovereign Body appeared too, the legendary union of Lunar Sovereign and Solar Sovereign could theoretically produce an offspring capable of slaying true immortals. But both physiques were exceptionally rare, almost never appearing in the same era. As for the Great Desolate Holy Body, its standing alongside the Solar Sovereign, Lunar Sovereign, and Five Elements Holy Body was no accident. Its power was absolute, pure, and unadulterated.

"One force to shatter ten thousand techniques."

At its peak, a single punch from a perfected Great Desolate Holy Body could make the very heavens tremble. The small antechamber they stood in bore the marks of recent battle, no fancy elemental techniques, just simple, brutal craters in the walls and floor. Some even had a faint blood mist still lingering inside them. This young man had not bothered with flashy spells. One punch per person, sending them flying with severe internal injuries, was his method.

The tense atmosphere shattered the moment Su Min and Xie Yingying fully entered the hall. Every eye turned toward them. Before Su Min could even speak, four bloodied, ragged figures, looking more like desperate beggars than sect prodigies, rushed to her side.

"You four…?" Su Min's eyebrow twitched. These were supposed to be proud young masters from major sects, yet they looked like they had been through a meat grinder.

"Lady Su! Here is part of that guy's head!" One of them, the Holy Son from a lesser known sect, flipped his hand, revealing a severed… piece, with a glaring eye still intact. Su Min's lips twitched. She knew the Wood Madman was doomed, but this was… excessively thorough.

"Lady Su! We have parts too—" Soon, all four presented their… grisly trophies.

The atmosphere in the hall eased slightly. These four were clearly too injured to compete for the legacy any further, so cashing in on Su Min's promise was their best and safest move. Four fourth grade pills might not compare to a Mahayana legacy, but they were nothing to scoff at, a fortune for most. The absurd part?

Each had brought a different piece of the head. When mentally combined, they formed the Wood Madman's final, furious, and undoubtedly unwilling expression.

"I recall offering five pills in total," Su Min eyed the four men, then the… macabre collection. She sighed internally. She had said "bring me his head," and they had interpreted it in the most literal, piecemeal way possible.

"Uh…" The four exchanged awkward, shifty glances.

"Fine. Let us go by weight," Su Min declared, deciding to embrace the absurdity. "The two heaviest pieces get two pill requests, the others get one each." She was not above enjoying a little chaos, but now was not the time to incite another bloodbath among them. So, to the astonishment of all present, she pulled out a small, precise scale and a clean mallet from her spatial ring.

"..." The entire room fell into a stunned silence. Even the unflappable Great Desolate Holy Body wielder stared at her as if she were an alien from another world. Who the hell carried a scale and weighed severed heads?!

The four prodigies hesitated for a moment, glancing at each other and the watching, dangerous crowd, but ultimately agreed. They were already injured, another fight amongst themselves would be suicidal. Thus, under the utterly bewildered and disbelieving gazes of the entire assembly, Su Min proceeded to weigh the head parts with the detached efficiency of a market vendor assessing produce. In the end, the Ancient Mansion Holy Son's chunk was deemed the heaviest.

"Ancient Mansion Holy Son, you get two requests. The rest of you get one each," Su Min announced, putting her tools away. "I will be resting outside the Fire Domain after this, bring your own materials when you come to find me."

"Thank you, Lady Su!"

"Many thanks!!!"

The four bowed gratefully, a bizarre sight given the circumstances, before swiftly gathering their remaining faction members and leaving the hall. In their current state, staying here was asking for trouble. Better to secure their rewards and live to prepare the alchemy materials another day. With their departure, the hall felt noticeably emptier.

Su Min paid them no further mind. Even Han Chaoyan's presence in the corner did not faze her. If he was not seeking trouble, she would not bother with him. Now, her full attention was on the Great Desolate Holy Body wielder guarding the inner chambers.

"If my senses are right, there are three chambers behind you," Su Min stated, striding forward confidently with Xie Yingying a half step behind. "One is currently occupied by the legacy inheritor, I will not interfere with that. But the other two? Their contents belong to me."

She made her declaration without a hint of doubt. The crowd parted before them like the Red Sea. They had just witnessed the young man's terrifying strength firsthand, one punch per opponent, no exceptions. But now, two more monstrous physiques had arrived.

Whispers erupted immediately.

"That woman… is that the Lunar Sovereign Body? Just being near her makes my spiritual energy feel sluggish and cold!"

"No mistake, it is the Lunar Sovereign Body. A once in an era physique. And that alchemist must be the Five Elements Holy Body, though I have never heard of it actually appearing before."

"The Five Elements Holy Body requires refining five different Heavenly Divine Objects, one for each element. One misstep, and you are dead. And finding even one is a miracle across lifetimes, let alone five!"

"Who is stronger between them, then?"

"Hard to say. Her Five Elements Holy Body is not complete yet, and the Great Desolate Holy Body seems similarly unfinished. But the Lunar Sovereign Body present here is likely the most formidable in direct combat at this moment."

"The Lunar Sovereign Body's frost is too domineering, but controlling such pure Yin energy is no easy feat either."

"..."

Most spectators wisely retreated to the edges of the hall, anticipating a inevitable clash of titans. The Great Desolate Holy Body was straightforward, unparalleled brute force. But Su Min was no slouch either. She had famously defeated three top tier prodigies alone, and now, with the Eastern Azure Wood fully refined, her combat power was rumored to have soared to new heights.

As for Xie Yingying, rumors said she had single handedly frozen dozens of Six Nine Heavenly Tribulation survivors in place during the battle for the Eastern Azure Wood. In short, none of these three were pushovers.

The remaining onlookers honestly doubted they could even match an average prodigy now, let alone these freaks of nature. Some even suspected that these three could fight early Nascent Soul stage experts evenly.

"Eastern Azure Wood… Nanming Lihuo… Drools."

Of course, there were always those who coveted Su Min's divine objects. But the moment those foolish words left a cultivator's mouth, a vacuum instantly formed around him. Everyone took a step back, eyeing him as if he were already dead. Nanming Lihuo and Eastern Azure Wood were priceless treasures, but killing Su Min would not extract them. Heavenly Divine Objects would simply return to their points of origin upon their master's death.

And the Azure Dragon's legacy site would not reopen in this lifetime. These artifacts chose their masters, force was meaningless. So even if Su Min flaunted them freely, she had surprisingly little to fear from outright theft for personal gain.

"No. Huo'er is inside," the Great Desolate Holy Body wielder refused outright, his voice firm and resolute. Even facing two formidable opponents, he would not back down. A true warrior's path admitted no retreat.

"That your little girlfriend in there?" Su Min guessed, her tone shifting to that of a seasoned elder advising a junior. "You two must be rogue cultivators, without a major sect backing you. Listen, kid, cultivation is not just about fists and brute force. There is also diplomacy and compromise. Besides, what I want is in the other room. It is useless to you, but it is a key item for my future path."

She spoke with confidence because her spiritual sense had already picked up on a specific, faint aura from one of the side chambers, the Black Tortoise Token.

In the game, this was a random world drop, pure luck whether it appeared or not. Its sole purpose? To unlock the entrance to the Black Tortoise's legacy site.

Of course, that legacy was not located within the Golden Core Avenue, so the token would be useless for now. But if it was here, she was not leaving without it. She was not afraid of the Great Desolate Holy Body, but a full blown fight now would only drain their energy and benefit the vultures watching from the sidelines.

She had heard that guy drooling over her Nanming Lihuo quite clearly, and she had no intention of making herself an easy target for scavengers.
