The reason they had come here to spy was quite simple.

They had heard from the guardian deities that this was Solgaleo's wife.

When these single Pokémon received the news from Tapu Koko, their reactions were filled with shock and disbelief.

Damn it, he's already surpassed us in this aspect.

Lucario clenched his fist in frustration.

Not long ago, when everyone was still single, Xiao Xingyun had still seemed like just a kid to them.

In the blink of an eye, they remained a group of bachelors.

Yet he already had a wife!

Blastoise, don't you want a wife too?

Blastoise was left speechless by the question. He turned her head and walked away, not wanting to watch Lucario sulking with jealousy.

Although he felt envious as well, at least if he didn't say anything about it, the others wouldn't be able to tell.

Despite their different reactions, once they had calmed down a bit, none of them could suppress their curiosity.

That was why they had decided to sneak over and spy on the situation.

However, this silly little turtle was truly a terrible teammate. They had been discovered almost immediately after arriving at their hiding spot.

The enraged Mimikyu bounced around even more vigorously than before.

We shouldn't have brought Blastoise along.

The eldest brother muttered this complaint as he led the younger ones back to where Roy was staying.

"Crack!"

Mimikyu nodded in strong agreement with that sentiment.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Lunala—who had maintained a deep-seated wariness since birth due to facing constant battles—was staring in bewilderment at two coconut leaves that almost completely covered his body.

Lunala turned the coconut leaves over repeatedly, examining them from every angle until he could no longer see anything suspicious.

He even tore the coconut leaves apart to check if there was anything poisonous hidden inside them.

After repeated inspections, Lunala finally determined that the coconut leaves were just ordinary coconut leaves.

The only unusual aspect was probably that they were much larger than typical leaves.

Lunala didn't spare another glance at the tattered leaves he had thrown on the ground. Instead, he turned and headed in the opposite direction from the black tower.

Today, he wanted to find a suitable place for himself to rest.

Once he found it, he could begin properly recovering his strength.

When all the Pokémon arrived near the Black Tower, they quickly realized that Roy had already fallen asleep.

So they tiptoed their way to the washing area, and the smaller Pokémon quietly made their way into the warmer tent.

The larger Pokémon found comfortable spots for themselves and fell asleep while gazing up at the starlight in the sky.

Although these Pokémon had been raised by Roy, they could successfully match their Trainer's routine because of the good living habits Roy had taught them.

In such an environment, even Salamence, who had been here for the shortest amount of time, quickly adapted to the rhythm.

When the Pokémon returned, Salamence quietly opened his eyes from his perch in the treetops, watching closely in the direction from which they had come back.

Good. Nothing else had come back with them.

No one had been harmed.

The area around here was safe, and all the other Pokémon had returned unharmed.

Satisfied with his observations, Salamence closed his eyes again and returned to his meditation.

The ruins regained their peaceful tranquility.

The red sun rose over the horizon, and a cool breeze swept through the area.

The ruins had been built on an open rocky mountain, but for some inexplicable reason, the entire area was now covered with a layer of mist that looked as delicate as tulle.

Roy distributed toothbrushes and other washing utensils to the group of Pokémon and led them to the washing area.

"This is really strange. Why is there fog here?"

It should just be some kind of special weather phenomenon.

I didn't sense anything particularly unusual about this fog.

Naturally, Lucario had explored the nearby vicinity a bit before Roy had woken up, and he hadn't found anything particularly noteworthy.

Roy nodded, feeling somewhat relieved.

He had been genuinely worried that something unexpected might happen again, especially with the black towers that he had painstakingly brought back from the Sea of Time and Space now surrounding his camp.

This matter was extremely important to him.

However, before long, the fog gradually dissipated as the sun continued to rise.

A small figure slowly emerged from the dispersing mist, flapping its wings as it flew in Roy's direction.

The creature rubbed its eyes, looking as though it had just woken up moments ago.

However, when it noticed Roy and the many Pokémon all staring directly at it, the little creature was caught completely off guard and startled.

Why were these people up so early? Could it be that they hadn't slept at all?

The Pokémon that had arrived was a Ribombee. Under orders from Tapu Lele, it was responsible for conveying news to the trial participants who were resting on Akala Island.

This time, the tour of the islands was something the guardian deities of Tapu had decided to continue. After all, they couldn't simply send the children who had come all this way back empty-handed.

However, they still needed to worry about maintaining fair relations.

As Tapu Koko controlled the spiritual network that stretched across all of Alola's domains, he would be responsible for conveying the coordinates of each trial participant. The Totems of each island would then distribute Pokémon and guide them to the corresponding locations.

This would ensure apparent fairness in the proceedings.

At the very least, it would prevent the gossiping elders from outside the region from finding anything to criticize.

This way, Tapu Koko, who served as the examiner, wouldn't have to endure being nagged repeatedly by those individuals.

Normally, Tapu Fini was something of a reclusive character, nearly impossible to get a word out of.

Tapu Bulu was unwilling to remain alert for more than a moment at a time.

Tapu Lele, while good-natured and easy to talk to, spent most of its time fluttering about like a butterfly. Playing around was far more interesting than chatting with others—the former was obviously much more entertaining.

So for quite a long time, Tapu Koko had grown accustomed to handling Alola's affairs quietly by himself.

That was, until one day, when the Alola Region suddenly began merging with a world called Earth.

And it seemed there was even a stable channel connecting the two worlds.

After that incident, aside from dealing with Pokémon that were becoming increasingly violent because the region was still in its integration period—which caused all sorts of strange troubles every single day—Tapu Koko also had the additional job of dealing with these outsiders.

It had simply burned him out completely, yet the other three guardian deities happily continued to play dead and avoid their responsibilities.

What made matters worse was that these outsiders weren't the same group of people every day. They spoke different languages, held different positions and viewpoints, and when they argued with each other, the disputes were lengthy and absolutely irritating.

However, Tapu Koko possessed a strong learning ability.

He soon learned something called "being perfunctory" from the assistant of a particularly important figure.

The assistant had mastered this skill with remarkable proficiency, practically becoming a master of perfunctory responses.

Interestingly enough, the important figure himself seemed quite content with this arrangement.

After observing and learning from this assistant many times over, Tapu Koko felt considerably more relaxed in handling his duties.
