Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Playing with a Wolf

Chapter 9: Playing with a Wolf

She hadn't expected him to trap her like this.

From the moment she woke up in the hospital, he had been suspicious. The egg was just a test.

She already knew he was ruthless, but now she realized he was also dangerously cunning.

What a waste of intelligence. If only he used it for good…

Oxygen-deprived, she barely had the strength to curse him. Her voice came out weak and hoarse:

"If… you… kill… me… you'll… lose… your inheritance…"

His grip loosened, then released her completely.

She sat up, gasping for breath.

There was only one thing on her mind—escaping this house of horrors.

Suddenly, he reached out and stroked her cheek, his gaze turning gentle again, like a caring brother.

"Of course, I love you," he murmured. "I just had to be sure no one was impersonating you… or had undergone surgery to replace you."

Her mind clicked.

His weakness is the inheritance.

Even if she wasn't Trần Ngọc Linh, as long as she was in this body, if she died and there was any evidence linking him to her death, he would lose everything.

I've found my trump card.

Feeling safer, she pulled the blanket over her face and drifted into sleep.

Midnight.

A heavy, uncomfortable pressure built in her stomach.

Damn. I need to pee.

She clutched her abdomen, threw off the blanket, and reached for the doorknob.

Then she froze.

Wait. I'm in a teenage boy's body.

Going to the bathroom meant touching certain areas.

She had done countless autopsies before, but that was different. Those were corpses. This was a living body.

And the last thing she wanted was to become some kind of pervert taking advantage of this situation.

Her movement must have made noise because Nguyễn Thế Anh stirred and asked, "What's wrong?"

A wicked idea formed in her mind.

This guy was a germophobe. Perfect.

She shuffled closer to his bed, clutching her stomach, and tugged at his sleeve.

"I need to pee."

The moment she said it, she regretted it.

Shit.

That sounded too childish. Should've said 'I need to use the restroom.'

Nguyễn Thế Anh frowned and yanked his sleeve away, dusting off the spot she touched.

"Then go."

He lay back down, completely unconcerned.

She wasn't giving up.

She grabbed him again. "Help me."

In the dim light, she saw his lips twitch. He was holding back irritation.

"Help how?"

She put on her most pained expression.

"Ever since I came back to life, I've been terrified of touching my lower half. In hell, the souls of the people I… well, let's just say they were obsessed with tormenting me. I still have nightmares about it."

He ignored her completely.

No matter how much she shook him, he pretended not to hear.

Fine.

She collapsed dramatically onto the bed, clutching her stomach, and moaned pitifully.

"I can't hold it anymore… If the bed starts smelling, you can't blame me."

Silence.

Then—

WHOOSH!

In one swift motion, he scooped her up and carried her to the bathroom.

Once inside, he turned to leave, but she grabbed his sleeve again.

"Please help me," she pleaded. "There are still marks on my neck from earlier. If you do this for me, I promise I won't tell anyone about what happened tonight."

She noticed a flash of killing intent in his eyes, but it quickly faded. He looked at her gently again and carefully pulled up her zipper for her.

At the same time, he took out a box of rubber gloves, put one on, and helped her relieve herself.

Seeing this, Hoàng Hải Vân suddenly realized that this method could work. After all, she would have to live with this body from now on, so she needed to learn to do things herself.

Hoàng Hải Vân hesitantly said:

- Give me that box.

Nguyễn Thế Anh looked at her with a doubtful expression, then handed it to her and stepped outside.
