Chapter 112: Fractures
The sky continued splitting above them like a broken mirror. Through each fracture, glimpses of something huge and hungry pressed against reality itself.
The air grew thick with the smell of decay and old evil. "Everyone back to the safe house," Liana commanded, her words carrying the weight of absolute authority. "Now."
"We can't just run," Kael stepped forward, his alpha presence testing hers. "We need to know what's coming through those cracks."
Liana turned to face him, silver fire flashing in her eyes. "I wasn't asking for your opinion." The words hit like a slap. Kael's jaw clenched.
"Excuse me?" "You heard me." Liana's voice got colder. "I'm handling this situation. Follow orders or get out of my way."
Death whistled low. "Okay, that's new." Jace limped between them, still bleeding from his arrest. "Hey, let's all take a breath here. We're on the same side." "Are we?" Kael's eyes never left Liana's face.
