Chapter 33 - chapter 23:2: family turns away the bond breaks

---

"This is wrong, sir! Why should we be punished?" a girl screamed.

"Are you seriously asking me that?" the disciplinary head snapped, his voice laced with disdain. "Look at you! We were all watching a performance when you barged in and disgraced yourselves. It's clear you weren't acting—you beat a classmate half to death. And one of you was even devious enough to lie to her friend's parents. And the parents? So stupid they came here and threw tantrums like children."

Maria glanced at the disciplinary head, then at the teachers and the furious parents. Finally, she looked at Chole.

"Did you... use your family name to, you know... ask for help?"

"I would never," Chole scoffed. "I'm not a bully, and I, Chile Hade, don't ask for help. I just thought this school was boring, so I said, 'Why not shoot a play?' The school approved. I selected students who mocked, insulted, and attacked you to be part of it. But guess what? They didn't read the script. Instead of acting, they exposed their true selves—beating their classmate and staying silent while someone nearly died. That's why she got beaten half-dead. I didn't lift a finger."

She smiled sweetly. "I did nothing wrong."

"Seriously?" Maria muttered, staring at the bullet hole in the wall.

Chole chuckled. "Okay, you caught me. Maybe the first gun was real. My bodyguard got too into character and brought the wrong prop. He used his real gun instead of the stun gun. But hey, nobody got hurt."

The boy who had stared down the barrel of that gun went pale. That was real? he thought before collapsing on the spot.

"You bitch!" another boy shouted, charging at Chole in rage.

Her bodyguard stepped forward, caught him mid-swing, and slammed him into the ground. A sickening crack echoed through the room. The guard calmly aimed his gun at the boy's head.

"We're not acting anymore," Chole said coldly. "No more stun guns. You attack me, you get a hole in your head. Give your parents a reason to cry. Honestly, they'll probably thank me—it's one less headache for them."

She turned to the disciplinary head. "Punish them. Expel them. Whatever. They're an eyesore."

The disciplinary head gave a stiff nod and waved his hand. The students were dragged out, kicking and screaming.

Just then, Neo and Jay walked in.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa..." Neo blinked. "Wait—she's really here? They said Chile Hade was in school, and I didn't believe it. But wow... just wow. The real Chile Hade. In the flesh."

Some students froze, their jaws dropping. She's really the heir of the Hade family?

Neo turned to Chole. "Tell me—why are you even in school?"

"What else do people do in school, if not learn?" Chole replied calmly, tilting her head.

"True, true," Neo nodded. "But didn't you finish school like... years ago? Weren't you done by thirteen or fourteen? You've been handling documents, running companies, making money—so why come back now?"

"I want to enjoy my teen life," Chole said simply. "Besides, I'm doing you all a favor. I'm stepping back. I won't take the biggest slice of the pie anymore. Consider it charity."

Neo raised an eyebrow. "Do you actually believe you'll stay out of business?"

Jay stepped in with a soft smile. "Either way, welcome to our school. I hope it entertains you... and maybe you'll make a few friends."

"I think one friend is enough," Chole said, folding her arms.

Jay nodded, still smiling. "If you ever want to visit us or hang out, our lounge is open to you. And Maria—same goes for you. You're free to use any private space in the school."

He gently petted the white cat on his shoulder, then turned to leave.

Neo followed and threw an arm around Jay's neck. "Wait—Jay. Why'd you say that? Maria can go anywhere she wants now?"

Jay sighed. "Don't forget—Mike bought this school for Maria. She can do whatever she likes."

"No, no—that's not what I meant. Since when do you get involved in Mike and Maria's affairs? You usually just nod and stay quiet. Don't tell me... you're interested in Chole?"

Jay glanced at him, expression unreadable, and removed Neo's arm from his neck without a word.

Neo scratched his head and rubbed his eyes. Then he froze.

"Wait a second—how does Chole know Maria that well? They're super close. She even showed her crazy side to protect Maria, not hurt her. Oh. My. Gosh!"

He ran after Jay, panicking.

Jay sighed without turning around. "It took you two minutes to realize that. I pity you. Maybe you really do need to go to the army and train your brain."

....

As the students were being dragged out of the classroom by security, another figure was suddenly held back—Maria's mother.

"Maria! From now on, our bond is broken!" her mother screamed, her voice echoing down the hall. "You're dead to me, you hear me? Dead! I don't want to ever see your face again!"

Her eyes were blazing with hatred as she continued, "We're not paying your school fees anymore, you waste of oxygen. Go run to your backer, you pathetic bitch!"

"This is uncalled for!" Maria's class teacher said, stepping forward in disbelief. "She's your daughter, for Christ's sake!"

"My only daughter is Oliver! I don't know her!" Maria's mother shrieked, struggling against the grip of the security guards.

"Good. Then you can leave," Chole said coldly, stepping in between them. Her eyes glowed faintly, full of possessive intensity. "And just so you know—Maria doesn't need you. I'll take care of her."

A beat passed—and then, smack!

Maria slapped Chole lightly on the back of the head.

Chole blinked. "...Huh?"

Maria stared at her hand, confused for a second, then looked at Chole with a faint smirk. It reminded her of how she used to slap Jake's head whenever he got too cocky.

Without saying a word, Maria grabbed Chole by the wrist and dragged her back into the classroom.

Once inside, Maria sighed, pulled out her phone, and typed a quick message to Jake.

No reply.

She stared at the screen for a moment, then turned her phone off with a quiet click. Instead, she opened her textbook and began to read, her expression calm, yet distant—as if nothing had happened.

She was supposed to be a heroine.

Elegant, gentle, full of love and light.

They called her unpredictable. Uncontrollable. Unfit.

So the system did what any responsible authority would do—

They kicked her out.
